Watch the Panorama programme on them. My own vet - Roberta from South Harrow - featured, saying that the reason a cat had multiple different claims was that they could claim more money. She diagnosed my 6-year old cat with kidney disease and prescribed life-long drugs, at considerable profit, no doubt. I wanted a more definite diagnosis rather than just basing it on blood tests and agreed to a kidney biopsy. The biopsy needle broke off inside him and they couldn't find it, so just sewed him up again with the needle inside him, which could have been fatal. They refused to do anything about it and tried on no less than 7 occasions to get me to sign a disclaimer saying that they weren't liable, which of course I didn't sign, after consulting a lawyer. When I took him to the Royal Veterinary College to remove the needle and check the diagnosis, they said there was nothing wrong with him. He's now 17 and STILL doesn't have kidney disease, so Medivet has lost out on 11 years of charging over the odds for drugs he never needed in the first place, let alone the trauma they put me through. Don't touch them with a very long barge pole. They're all about profit and not about animal welfare at all in my experience. I complained to the RCVS, but they weren't willing to do anything either. read more
