Expensive. Food was okay. My chicken-farfalle pasta dish was a chef specialty. It was fine. But, at $21, that's a pricey bowl of pasta. My daughter had the chicken marsala, another popular dish on this menu, and it was also okay. Again, pretty pricey. We had the (half-price) appetizer, with hummus, dolmas and babaganoush. It was okay. I would have added more tahini into the dips for richness. This is mostly a lunchtime pizza and sandwich place, so I would say stick to that part of the menu. (My mistake was checking real quick on Google maps for a nearby eatery. I should have stuck with my ever-trustworthy YELP!) Service was very friendly and the food was quickly served hot and fresh. The inside decor is nice, the staff is great, and for the most part, the food isn't bad. I can't put if I recommend it or not because it doesn't blow me away. Their pizzas, are really good. Don't give up on places that have been solid for you in the past, is one of my top pieces of advice for anyone on Yelp. If they have a history of satisfying you, even if they have off nights, you ought to give them a try again in the future. I wanted to update this review and since I had a couple off experiences at this Mediterraneo, I have indeed since been back, and decided that overall I do like coming here. No matter any other measure, this is still my absolute favorite place that serves complimentary bread with their meals. The texture and taste continue to be one of the things that make me return, and honestly, don't we all just love good bread? The strange thing, is that they now charge a token amount (50 cents) for the spiced olive oil dip. While that is odd (never run into that before) i'm happy to hand it over for this staple. They do let you know about it when bread is requested. My most recent trip, I went for veal parm. Something I haven't had in awhile. This comes with pasta, but a salad is extra if you'd like one. Most around the table ordered chicken parm, and we had one gnocchi taker. It was apparently a parm kind of night! Everything was paced well, our server did a great job even though she was handling a lot of tables that particular evening. My veal parm in the end was pretty darn good, I have always liked their marinara here. I could cut it with a fork, and you could tell the veal was tenderized nicely before being breaded and fried. I don't know why it has taken me so long to write this review because this little gem impresses me every time I go there. I'm talking about Mediterraneo, located at the shopping center on Pisgah Church and N. Elm. I have sweet memories of this place including a wonderful lunch with Rabbi Fred and Nancy, a scrumptious dinner with my friend, Sally and a few meals by myself when that craving for marinara sauce became just too much for me to bear. But my most memorable experience at Mediterraneo was during the heart of COVID, when no one would dare step inside a restaurant. It was November 29th 2021 and I wanted Italian food for my birthday dinner. The kids wanted to satisfy my craving but how could that be possible unless we did take out? Then I remembered that Mediterraneo had outdoor seating, and even though it was the end of November and cold, it was not a particularly freezing night. So me and the kids bundled up and headed over to Mediterraneo to sit outside. It was almost December, but when Dad wants red sauce for his birthday, you better find it for him!! I'll never forget that meal. It felt so wonderful to have a little sense of normalcy for an hour, although I don't know what was normal about five people sitting outside the end of November for dinner LOL Although Mediterraneo is also known for some Middle Eastern dishes, I have only had their Italian food which I really enjoy. First off, nobody can compare to their dinner rolls. They are warm and delicious and always come with a nice oil-based dip alongside them. What I also love about this place is as long as you keep finishing the basket, they will continue to bring you more rolls. I had chicken parmesan with pasta, my favorite, and I remember the waiter being extremely courteous and appreciative of our visit during such a difficult time. We were freezing, but happy! I have been back to Mediterranean many, many times. Their prices are good, their portions are large and I really like their food. Their lunch specials are really well priced with a hearty portion and those same delicious rolls. I don't know how many people know about this place but it's a great restaurant to visit if you are in that part of town. I have never been disappointed. I would have to say it's one of my top three Italian restaurants in Greensboro, and being a boy who grew up in the Bronx around Italians and real Italian food, that's a compliment! What a nice surprise! We discovered this place by walking after had a meal in this complex. We went in a Saturday lunch and the service was super cozy and fast. We ordered the spinach pies that were super tasteful, the risotto Mediterranean and they like me to personalize my dish so I ordered the gnocchi with Alfredo sauce and bacon. OMG! It was amazing! For starters we came at an "off" time - between lunch and dinner. There were very few patrons and our waiter seemed to be manning the whole show. The service was exceptional and he was great with acknowledging and accommodating our toddler -- which is often amiss in restaurants. We ordered the hummus and wings - both were top tier! The hummus is the best hummus we've had from a restaurant in a long time. It's extra creamy -- so good! They were out of the lamb which hubby found disappointing. Nevertheless, he ordered the chicken shawarma which was reportedly not the best but "ok." Toddler loved her chicken Parmesan from the kid's menu and had enough to eat the next day - which she gobbled up both times. I had the fattoush salad with shrimp. We had guests in and decided to try them. We were so disappointed in general but myself in particular. Specifically : Very dark and uncomfortable seating. The wait staff was quite good and it was reasonably clean excluding the toilet. I'll just speak to my experience. I ordered a Kofta on pita with house side salad. The kofta was completely bland lacking any discernible cumin or cardamom. The Tzatziki was lacking dill as well as cucumber( at least that was noticeable. Having said that, I would like to mention that I'm a cook with over 30 years experience and have tasted many a bland dish. The "pita" was most likely a sandwich wrap or perhaps a flour Tortilla. I love Mediterranean food! This place tops many! We started with the lebanese platter. This usually comes with hummus, grape leaves and baba ghanouj. Not spicy at all. Adds the perfect amount of flavor. For dinner, I ordered the lamb gyro. I asked for it as a platter because I didn't want too much pita. Lamb meat was tasty and not too salty which I love. The cucumber sauce is hand made and delectable. Portions are large so plan on sharing. My husband ordered the stromboli and it was huge! It was good especially with the marinara sauce. The portion size of the marinara sauce was too big. I feel this could have been smaller. The service was great and everything came out on time! They had half price wine glasses and bottles on Saturday night. The only constructive criticism I could offer besides the mozzarella sticks without cheese would be the frito chips as a side. He tries different dishes every time and that different then most places he orders the same thing every time. Food- the bread is AMAZING. Ask for bread! My hubby had gluten free chicken and spinach ravioli in a mushroom sauce, he isn't even gluten free‍ but he LOVED it! I had tabouli salad with feta and chicken( my absolute favorite!) This meal has been on my mind since I was there. I very much want to go back soon, as it was one of the best Italian meals I have had in the area in a while. It was a nice day out, so we were able to enjoy our meal celebrating my dad's birthday on their patio. I sadly don't remember our waiters name, but he was extremely personable and very attentive to us even if we were the only people outside. Now the food! First, the included bread is absolutely delicious! Soft, fluffy, and doughy in the perfect way. We demolished the first basket quickly and were delighted to keep receiving more. The oil and spices dip for it is also very tasty. We got two appetizers: Caprese (buffalo mozzarella cheese, slices tomatoes, fresh basil, oregano, and olive oil) and Fried Calamari (squid breaded and deep fried, served with homemade marinara sauce). Both were beautifully plated and so yummy. Their calamari were some of the best I have had in the area. Just lightly fried, nicely seasoned, and went great with their homemade marinara. Most of it was the rings, which I prefer to the tentacles. As this was my first time here, I decided to go for a classic dish for my entrée by selecting the Chicken Parmesan (chicken breast breaded and baked with tomato sauce, mozzarella, and Parmigiano cheese). I was so excited when my dish was sat in front of me. It looked beautiful and exactly as one pictures this dish should be. I couldn't wait to dive into this big old plate of pasta, sauce, and two chicken breasts. I absolutely had another meal to take home! Their chicken parm was perfection. All the elements were cooked just right but the homemade tomato sauce was the star. My husband got the Gnocchi Gorgonzola (potato dumplings with mushrooms, peas, and ham in a Gorgonzola sauce). The portion size was very generous, allowing for leftovers too. I got to try a couple bites and found the gnocchi well cooked and the gorgonzola sauce to be creamy and satisfying. The dish is a bit heavy for me, but hubby liked it. My dad got the Eggplant Rotini (Eggplant rolled with ricotta cheese, ham, and provolone cheese in tomato sauce). It was also a beautiful plate. This dish oddly did not come with any pasta, which we found a little weird as most others did and it was of similar cost. Dad decided to order a side of pasta and red sauce. I will say a "side" was a huge amount, but wish didn't have to pay extra just to get some pasta. Finally, my brother and his wife shared a large, customized pizza with pepperoni, jalapenos, garlic, sausage, and mushrooms on half. They both commented that the pizza crust was the perfect mix of soft and crunchy. There was also a TON of toppings, which I say is always a plus. I honestly wanted a slice but was too full! I will absolutely order a pizza creation of my own to try from here in the future! When it's my dad's birthday he always wants Italian food, and Mediterraneodid not disappoint him or any of us. I love Mediterraneo - I am particular about my red sauce and meatballs but there's is perfect to me! I was craving pasta and bread with olive oil and I pretty much got it but no olive oil. Normally I would call in and go pick up my order however after a long day I was feeling lazy and placed an order through door dash. On the menu it just said bread so I assumed it came with olive oil since it does at the restaurant but it didn't :( I was sad but it didn't say olive oil on the site so I guess it's my fault! read more

Excellent first experience at Mediterraneo! Even though it was brisk outside (we sat on their patio), the food and service was warm and inviting. We DESTROYED their bread. It is by far my favorite bread in any local Italian joint, and the server kept bringing it out hot and fresh, exactly when we needed it. Throughout our meal, our sever was very attentive and kind. I shared a pizza, which was fine in its own right. I will say, I was far more impressed with my family's entrée selections. The marina is so flavorful.
