I had these folks cater and event for 70 people at our home and the execution was flawless. I do need to say that we are in the restaurant industry so we are definitely more critical than most and they pulled it off. read more

Was a good dining experience. The food was good, wait staff nice, and the restaurant side of the house clean and neat. There was a diverse selection of food including carciofi alla giudia, one of my favorites from Rome which is where I grew up. I have never had a bad meal at Mediterraneo. Everything I have ever ordered is delicious, but their homemade cheesecake is far and away the best I have ever tasted. Ate here quite by accident (we parked nearby when meeting friends for a hike). Afterwards we were starving, liked the looks of Mediterraneo and went in. What a find! Great service, and food better than I got in Naples, Italy on a recent trip. The 'Rigatoni alla Norma' was to die for, and the portions were huge. We were out visiting estate sales and decided to stop in here for lunch. First time in Alpine, but I'll definitely be back just to eat here. Service was prompt and our waiter was very friendly. But it's the food...yum. I had the chicken marsala, and it was so good!One of the best marsala sauces I've had, and the chicken wasn't dry at all. My partner had the gnocchi, which she is very picky about, and loved it. Bottom line - totally recommend this place. Worth the drive out here for us. read more

My wife (who comes from an Italian -American family in upstate New York and has high standards for Italian food) love this little restaurant. Clearly a family establishment, there is a warmth here that makes their excellent quality of service feel implicit. We had a great dinner on Mediterraneo comfortable outdoor patio. It was the perfect temperature for sitting outside, and the tables/chairs made it nice to sit and relax for as long as we liked. The seating areas inside and out are cozy, clean, and nicely decorated. There were three of us for dinner, and we had to wait about 15 minutes for a table. The restaurant seemed to be set up mostly for tables of two, though there were at least three parties of 6 or more - so maybe some of their larger tables had been pulled together. The kitchen seemed like it was a little busy; we waited slightly longer than usual between our salads and the main course, but not too long. On to the food - it was great. Each of us started with a salad, all of which were quickly devoured. The tasty herb focaccia while we were reading the menus had helped dull our hunger, but none of us filled up on bread. I probably would have if the focaccia was a little more crisp on the bottom... Back to the salads - my Caesar was very fresh and simple, the way I like it. The house green salad also looked fresh and delicious. Two of us ordered the seared salmon with fingerling potatoes, shiitake mushrooms, and arugula for our main course. The salmon was nearly perfect, obviously fresh and cooked just to the right side of "done". The waiter said it is his favorite dish, and I'd probably agree. The 3rd wheel had shrimp with penne, which came with about a dozen large shrimp, sundried tomatoes, and a light cream sauce. The shrimp were tender (properly cooked) and delicious. All in all, the food was spot on. There isn't much room for waiting in the front of the restaurant, but there is a bar attached to the restaurant which seemed pretty busy. Might try that out next time. Mediterraneo doesn't take reservations for parties under 6 people, so its wise to plan on a small wait on weekend nights. read more

I am an Alpine resident. My husband have dined at Mediterraneo twice recently for lunch. Both times we were immensely impressed by the friendly, enthusiastic service on the patio, and equally impressed by the quality of the items were ordered. The appetizer angus sliders (cooked to order - we had ours medium) with carmelized onions are to die for ..... one order is a sufficient meal for one person. The garlic fries are yummy and need no catsup. Last visit, we shared the sliders, and then shared the grilled chicken sandwich, which was served on a very tasty foccia bread -- not like most places where the chicken sandwiches are mostly bread, this item was tasty for all the other ingredients, and I am getting my own next time instead of sharing with hubby! Now our favorite lunch spot, it will be tough to choose somewhere else the next time we have time for lunch together! read more

We met up with friends in the area and I must say this was a great choice. They offer both inside and patio seating with a decent view and a nice breeze. I ordered one of the specials, mahi mahi with mashed potatoes and spinach. The fish was topped with capers and done perfectly. The service was great, attentive but not annoying. Excellent service. Cute little restaurant. Amazing food!! My bf and I celebrated our anniversary here and it was a 10/10 experience. Everyone who came across us was more than nice. From the appetizer to the main dish to the dessert everything was to die for memorable. The seafood is great quality as well. It is family owned and it's amazing seeing how hands on the owners are. I definitely recommend giving this place a try, you won't regret it. Also they had the best old fashioned I at-least have personally tried. My friend lives up in Gutay so sometime I meet him here for happy hour. They havve good Happy Hour specials and good drinks. I have only been to the bar never the resturant though. I have see the resraurant and it is nicely decorated. The poeple who work there are always friendly. If you are even in Alpine and need a drunk, this is the place to go! read more

We went in there was only 2 other tables at the time. We ordered our food about 35 minutes the waitress apologized about the wait and told us our food orders were mixed up and that she would give us a discount on the wait. After an hour we finally received our food and again told we would get a discount. When our checks came items were on the wrong check and it took forever to get our cards back, when I went up to the front to ask for our cards I was given attitude for asking. The manger came out and and gave a half apology. Terrible service I will never be back read more

My family and I went here for the first time tonight and I have to say I'm not impressed. I've actually never really been to an Italian place like this. Our food took FOREVER to come. There was only three other tables in use so I don't get why it took so long. my son got the personal pizza and my husband got a pizza as well. I got the calamari and it was so dry chewy and bland I couldn't even eat it. Our waiter (I think he was the manager) asked me why I didn't eat it and I told him so he didn't charge us for the calamari which was nice. But all in all the food was very bland even the pizza and the butter that they serve with the bread was not to my liking either. Would get pizza from here again but not sure about anything else. read more

This restaurant and it's food are not a good value. The location is central to Alpine and you can sit outside (which is nice). The food is average and overpriced for the quality and taste. My wife and I had the fried Calimari with dipping sauce. The sauce tasted like regular tomato soup with a bit of cream in it. It was bad. We also had a BBQ chicken pizza. Again, the pizza was OK and not overly flavorful. The cost of this meal was $40.00?? That's overpriced for the quality and flavor we received. The best part of our meal was the table bread and rosemary butter. This is the second and last time I'll eat at this restaurant. I'll give other establishments in the area my future business. read more

Went once and it was great . . . went back looking for the same quality and experience and it was just ok. The food is overpriced for what you get (Italian food is marked up way more than any other style), the chicken was dry, and the waiter checked in with us to much. For Alpine this is one of the only decent eats but it's only decent at best. read more

The chestnut & bacon soup is delicious! I tried the mango, avocado, and shrimp salad which was not as tasty as I had hoped. The service was great although I was their entire lunch crowd. The prices are a bit high which probably was a factor in my expectations on the salad. Soup, salad, and iced tea set me back $26. read more
