I googled wine tasting near me and stumbled upon this hidden gem. We are no strangers to "blink and you will miss it" type of venues and we had the pleasure of finding this one. Thanks to Google, and an adventures mind set. Much like any other wine tasting, we knew we were in for a variety of wines, but like in a safari, we were fortunate to have a exceptional guide like Alex who had the passion for the business like a matador. He prepared the line up like a narrator in a Broadway play making sure that every bottle had the proper presentation utilizing decanters, air aerators and precise attention to serving temperatures. But that aside, the attention to detail that is given to the wines before they even become a staple for us to enjoy that matured into voyage that complimented the experience.

We had my daughter's bridal shower here and they did a wonderful job getting everything ready. And we do apologetic when something didn't happen as they thought. But it was a great shower and Alex and Ken were great.

What a gem of a winery! It's hard to decide the best part, the wine, the hosts or the location. Wines were truly unique in their taste, each having the Medina Winery magic sprinkled into a recognizable wine style. The Sangiovese, the Cab and the Pinot Grigio were our favorites, maybe they're a little but too drinkable... Matt and Ken were fantastic hosts, very knowledgeable about wine but also huge fun to spend an evening with putting the world right. Due to their huge parking lot (with water and electricity for a nominal fee) and Harvest Host membership we were fortunate enough to see a magnificent sunset and glorious sunrise. Do not miss a chance to visit.

I have nothing but good things to say about this small, privately owned winery. I was pleasantly surprised by how good their wines were. The tasting room is small, but this is not a very busy winery. The owners are knowledgeable and friendly. I especially enjoyed their dry Riesling. I will definitely return in the future

Got two wines from here about a year ago. Both were skunked when we opened them. Very disappointed with this winery!

After dinner, we stopped for Fiorella Friday and ended the night at Hill Country Cider House. It is a really comfortable space. There are a few tables in the main room, with extra rooms available for overflow. The guy running the bar had a strong country warmth to him and was clearly knowledgeable about every cider they were pouring. My parents and my girlfriend all ordered the hot cider made with their 'Tis the Season cider, I think. They all really enjoyed it and its warmth. I ordered a cider mule, which was also excellent. A whole bottle of their cider can definitely get the night going, and I am excited to buy some bottles to take back with me next time I am in Castroville. RIYL: Ciders, houses, or the Hill Country

I was…read morethe first to arrive around 130pm, but about 4 other couples walked in not 10 mins after me. It was a fairly hot day for the end of winter, so I chose to sit inside. They have a handful of high top tables and about 17 different wines on the tasting menu. The prices for the bottles range from $24 - $165. One interesting note, the grapes are currently grown in Lubbock due to the water shortage in this area, but they have some vines that are being replanted on this property so maybe in a few years they will be ready. They do have some snacks to try/purchase in the cold case, and more dry snacks that aren't refrigerated on the other side of the room. Since we hadn't eaten lunch yet, we grabbed a meat and cheese from the refrigerated case for $10 Restrooms are in a side building adjacent to the tasting room building. I tried the El Jardin, Albarino, Cinsaut, Sangiovese, Mourvedre, and Cabernet Franc. We also sampled a 1/2 pour of the Nectar du Terroir which is a fortified dessert wine instilled with brandy. I liked it but just be warned that it is strong at 17%. El Jardin - light white wine easy to drink; would go well with seafood Cinsaut - sort of like a pinot noir but slightly bitter Sangiovese - fruity similar to cinsaut but not as bitter Mourvedre - tasted similar to cinsaut but slightly better Cabernet franc - the best of the bunch, pretty smooth Overall, we enjoyed our experience here but are not huge wine drinkers and didn't really find one we were in love with. We didn't end up taking home any bottles but will always enjoy the memories. One note, their wine is reportedly not sold at liquor stores, but it is sent to select wine bars throughout Texas, so you may find it in your town; otherwise, the only other ways to get it is through their website, or by visiting the tasting room just outside of Boerne. They do not have a tasting room in Lubbock where the grapes are grown.

When we arrived, we waited in line at the bar since we weren't sure what to do. There wasn't a sign that said seat yourself. We told the bartender it was our first time here and wanted to know what their process for ordering was. She mentioned several people called in and for that night we would have to go to the bar to order food or drinks then they would give us a number and serve us. We ended up ordering one drink each only since we were more interested in the band. We sat ourself outside and there was already a large crowd around 7ish. Still found a place to sit and enjoy the sunset. They had plenty of space and while we were waiting for the band we noticed one gentleman already singing. We waited for the band to show up but ended up leaving because this gentleman that was singing was catering to a much much older crowd and his music selection was very sleepy for us on a Saturday night. Not sure what happened to the band, maybe they were running late but overall still enjoyed our drinks and relaxed. We did not order food but might return and try it then. They do have several containers of water to access without going to the bar every time which was convenient.
