Reagan Park - My bike creek crossing

Reagan Park

This review is for Reagan Park's 11 miles of mountain bike trails…read more This park has a combined total of five trails. See the website to see all the trails marked on a map. All of the trails are challenging! I would say front a suspension mountain bike is a must, and having a rear suspension would make these trails a little easier. I have seen people riding these trails with no suspension. Roughnecks! The first trail, Huffman Trail, is a low to medium difficulty trail. Though, it is much harder than most the other mountain bike trails in northeast Ohio, based on the little bit of biking I've done in the last few years in the Cleveland Metroparks. To me, the climb is probably the toughest part. This trail will challenge you both physically and technically. It starts off flat, but then there is a long climb that will get your heart going. Most of the technical stuff is on the way down. There are several rock gardens and sharp drops that will test your balance. The second trail, is the Fawn Ridge trail, which connects to the Annex trail, which connects to the River Trail, but for my reviews purposes, I'm treating them as one trail because, well, it feels like one trail when you ride it. Fawn Ridge and Annex are not that long or difficult and there is one section where you actually have to ride along the road to get to the next section. Basically, this is the trail you ride to get to the difficult River Trail section. The River Trail section is really challenging. There is a very steep, downhill rock garden with small logs that cross the path. It's very bumpy and hard to ride without losing your balance, while maintaining the right speed. It's tough to brake because your rear tire is bouncing off the logs and rocks, if you have no rear suspension like me. You don't want to give too much front brake because you don't want to fly over the handlebars. Out of approximately five attempts at this obstacle, I've only made it past it once without falling and that was during my first attempt! This trail circles back to the Annex Trail, where you will cross the street to the Reagan Park Trail. The Reagan Park Trail is a large, difficult trail with some interesting obstacles. Lots of climbs and narrow single track. But there is a nice section that is a gradual decline through a pine forest. Very cool! There is a section where you have to cross a creek, and yet another section that has a 10 foot drop that is extremely steep and makes a 90 degree right turn at the bottom. I usually just drag my rear wheel down this part and steer through the sharp turn. When you ride all three trails, it will get you in shape quickly. You will need lots of water, preferably a Camel Back to keep you hydrated. There is also an RC car track, which is cool to stop and watch people using while you catch your breath.

This is a fun place to walk and talk. There aren't any play grounds, lots of playing fields, nature…read moreeverywhere. Lots of fun

Having done another hike at Hinckley Reservation I realized I had not posted a review for one of…read morethe gems of the Cleveland Metroparks system. Hinckley offers as diverse a range of activities and some of the best view as any other park in the area. Most people know Hinckley from the annual Buzzard festival, the nice lake and the awesome ledges, but that is just scratching the surface. With the newly renovated dam and the lake refilled Hinckley Reservation is once again at its peak. I have often hiked at Hinckley, my most recent hike started at the Top of the Ledges picnic area, went down through the Ledges, along the North side of the Hinckley Lake Loop, on the Bridal Trails and then the Buckeye Trail back through the Ledges. If you are looking for some interesting hiking the Bridal Trails provide some nice variety from open fields, stream crossings, hills and narrow winding trails. Whipp's Ledges are some of the most impressive you will see; they provide multiple routes and views, plus there is actual rock climbing allowed. Less well known are Worden's Ledges on the other side of the park which while smaller still are lots of fun and they have some interesting carvings that are well worth visiting. The Lake provides the opportunity for kayaking, canoeing, and fishing. There is a nice boathouse where you can rent a boat at reasonable rate, and while not terribly challenging, the lake is picturesque and getting out on the water is always a great time. Although I have never taken advantage at the bottom of the dam there is a nice beach and swimming area. Hinckley Reservation is a wonderful asset and a great way to get outside and enjoy yourself. This is a large park with plenty to do and see. Never been disappointed with a visit here.

They had so many t-shirts and sweatshirts with the Cleveland Metro Park logos and scenery. I bought one months ago in pink with a squirrel on it. I also like their selection of plush toys, kids gifts, socks, etc. Please go in and have a cup of coffee and support the park. The trail is definitely an adventure as you walk around the park, and now IT's FULL OF WATER AGAIN!! As you walk look at the color of the trees, the trees that are barely hanging on, and the trees that became part of the waterscape! Beauty! As you get to the beach are and new dam you can appreciate all of the work put into getting this back and better than it was. So get your FITBIT, Apple Watch or any pedometer type technology and start steppin'. Say hello to my friends at the store. Let them know Cee Cee sent you! Lol

Stan and Esther Allard were early pioneers of soils conservation and forestry. They loved their…read morethree-generation farm and trees so much that in 1992 they gave it away. Now, the Medina County Park District lovingly cares for and preserves this land and all those magnificent woods for everyone to enjoy. (They've added 212 acres, too!) When it was still a farm, we rode sleds and inner tubes down the sledding hill; now, you can bring your family out for some "coasting." There were no real trails, back then; now, there is a nice, paved half-miler and an upaved mile-long trek up over the ridge, then back down along the stream. No matter the season there are wonderful things to see here. The number and variety of trees is staggering. You are nearly assured of seeing at least one type of tree you've never seen in Ohio. Dog-friendly (on-leash), has a nice pavilion, restrooms, plenty of parking and some of the most wonderful scenery this state has to offer. A true diamond in the rough, sitting as it does hard by an interstate highway. Come on out for a visit.

A climbing net going back up that hill. & a slide going down that same hill. Along with steps, mommas lol Picnic tables under a cool roof. Dog walking park also! Saw lots of people walking their dogs. Looks like a lot of pretty trails, but we didn't experience those. All play areas are visible from closest picnic area, except the bottom of the turf slide hill. 4 stars due to it being on the smaller side, but my kids really enjoyed it. Mostly stayed at the turf hill though & the tractor. Wouldn't make a long trip here as kiddos might get bored after awhile. But def nice if close for picnics, short play, or dog walks!

They are in a completely fenced in area and all the dogs seem to know and love it. There are trails with in the fenced in area that are awesome as well, great place to take them for a walk and still be in nature. It's a HUGE area. We recently had to put our other dog down, so he had been getting depressed, (it appeared) so we tried this and it has been amazing, for all of us ;-D. I also take my grandson to the playground which is perfect and then we walk around the lake. If you haven't been here I suggest you put in on your bucket list. Even if you don't have children, grandchildren or a dog, the 'people' trails are paved. Have fun. #KristineBarskiSells #Remaxcrossroads

We've never had a problem with any other dogs or owners. Highly recommend!
