Frazee House is located at the west most point of Bedford Reservation, right at the point that the metropark transitions into the Federal park. Frazee House is a historic farm house that has a small parking lot and a bathroom so it is a good place to start a hike. From the house you can cross the road and access the Towpath Trail which heads northto Valley View and south to Brecksville Reservation.
Going east from Frazee House there is a very nice 4 mile loop trail that leads to the Alexander road trailhead. The north side of the loop follows the bridal trail as it winds through the woods staying near to Sagamore Creek. The trail crosses the creek twice and while it mostly has a gradual pitch there is a steeper section that brings you to the top of the small gorge. After climbing out has a short run to the Alexander trailhead.
Once at the trailhead you head down the bike/hike path for a short distance until you head back west using a section of the Buckeye Trail. This portion of the loop stays up along the top of the gorge for about half of the return. This trail winds quite a bit around several small streams. Right before the start of the descent you will encounter Linda Falls which can be a nice highlight if the stream is running. This trail does get close to the road so you might hear car noises.
Another option is that from the Alexander trailhead you can head up into more of Bedford Reservation. I added parts of the single track mountain bike loop that is between Egbert and Alexander roads to add even more fun and length to the hike. If you choose to hike the mountain bike trails it is best to go the opposite direction that the bikes are going, be aware of bikes heading towards you and allow them the right of way.
The Sagamore Creek loop from the Frazee House is an interesting hike that has nice variety, some challenge and is usually not very busy. If you want a nice moderate hike in the 4 mile range well worth considering. Get out and have enjoy the great opportunities we are lucky to have. read more
