    Grassroots Gorge Overlook

Big park with lots of trails and overlooks to relax at. It has so much open space in addition to shaded areas so there's a good variety of terrain to check out. West Creek Reservation is the nicest thing about Parma. Get some good exercise. There's also learning opportunities at the nature center where you can learn about the watershed. In the park it has many places where you can get a start on hiking. Maybe the best place is the parking lot located outside of the nature center, which is where you can catch the start of several trails. There's a large loop trail that stats around here and it takes you a long way. Grassroots Gorge is a beautiful area. Here there's a bridge across the creek. This lets you see the creek from pretty high up. Bluebird Point is a large open area. It also has a parking lot so you can come right here. There's a nice paved trail around it. Children can get educated at the nature center. It teaches about the watershed and why it's important to not pollute. They have a few exhibits they can look at too.

CLEVELAND sure has hidden gems that are FREE (no cost). What a beautiful reservation that I never knew about until I did a quick search online of nature places to visit. OUTDOORS -- I visited in the middle of September (2019) with fellow Yelper, Ilona P. and her young son. We walked around the reservation for a little bit. There are lots of trees aligned all around and plenty of space for the whole family to walk, run, and ride a bicycle. I also noticed bathrooms at a particular point so that is convenient. INSIDE -- There is a visitors center that looks fairly new. It has a lounge area with comfortable chairs, books for kids to read (in a mini play area), a mini aquarium, a shop, and front desk. It mimics a museum and it is just super nice and clean. I highly recommend coming here with your whole family, by yourself, or with a friend. It would be wonderful to visit again in Autumn when all the colourful leaves have changed colours. **** - 133 total reviews in 2019 - 342 total overall Yelp reviews - Reviewed on 13 November 2019

This place is beautiful! We visited late October and the leaves had so many bright colors. There are plenty of waking/hiking loops. Most of them are on the shorter side (0.2-1.5 miles) but there are a couple of long loops (12-13miles). We saw birds, chipmunks and squirrels on the walks. The nature center here was cute. It's on the small side but has cute little turtles/snakes/fish and the dunkleosteous statue. I'd definitely recommend visiting if you are in the area! It's free and a great way to see and learn about the nature here.

Since I had a meeting at 77 and Rockside Road, I searched the area for hiking trails; decided to give West Creek Reservation a try and it was a great choice. I parked at the Watershed Stewardship Center where the Metroparks demonstrate ways to handle rain water in responsible ways. Entering into the park you will encounter the All Purpose Trail which will take you to a large meadow where you can view several TV and Radio broadcast antennas. By crossing a bridge on the Gateway Trial, you can access 3 different loops that are shared by hikers and single track bike riders. The loops are excellent, following different ridgelines with views of forests, valleys and rivers. The loops look like they would be a lot of fun for bike riders, including many twists and banked turns. The Turners Run trail is an out and back path that mostly follows the West Creek and is well worth a stroll. Finally there is the Lookout Ridge Loop that winds through the forest and provides numerous paths. Make sure that you find the top trail which will lead to the Skyline Overlook which presents you with a fabulous framed view of Downtown Cleveland and Lake Erie about 10 miles away; this may be the best overlook in Northeast Ohio. I had not considered West Creek Reservation before, it may be one of the more overlooked Metropark properties, but it is well worth a visit; I managed to put together an excellent 8+mile hike. If you are a single track rider it is well worth a visit since the loops seem like they would fun and provide a nice flow.

Beautiful park and totally worth to visit. I came here with my son to meet my girlfriend. The park had several hiking trails and a spacious spots to sit down and relax. From the main entrance approximately 0.5-1 mile was a visitor center. The center was well kept, clean and informative. My child loved the center as it had an area for kids to play and read. After the rest, we explored the center's exhibition about wild life and read some information about animals that habituated in Ohio. We all three had enjoyable experience! Great place to visit!

20 minutes from down town and a beautiful place to spend a few hours. There are several natural and paved trails here, a creek (obviously), a nature center, pavilions and a look out area. I like to come here and review recorded lectures before big exams- the trails and beauty of the area is perfect for this. I also always bring my dog, and she loves it. Plenty of smells, other dogs, and even a dog water fountain. Great place to come if you want to walk, chill, take photos, see the CLE skyline, or exercise.

West Creek Reservation is new to the Cleveland Metroparks system. It is a nice park and great relief from the hustle and bustle of the Cleveland metropolis. West Creek is home to one of the world famous RF towers of the Cleveland Antenna Farm. It is also a watershed and home to some wonderful creatures. There is a visitor center along with a picnic area. West Creek Reservation is a lush, green landscape in the summer. On this cold day in January, it was barren and quiet. The sun was trying to shine through the dense cloud cover on this 10 degree day. Reminded me of the song Half Moon Bay by Sun Kil Moon. Grey clouds, muted suns.

Nice area amongst the urban backdrop of Parma. Feels like you escaped your normal schedule. I like the Watershed house.

A favorite area to walk. And since my last review the trails are marked. So far I have seen (one) coyote, deer and plenty of birds. Enjoy!

I visited this park on a Sunday afternoon in May 2021 with my friend and fellow Yelper, Christina…read moreP. The park is located in Parma, Ohio and this was my first time there. TENNIS COURTS -- I arrived to play tennis. There are about 8 tennis courts which is plenty for a park. When I arrived around 4pm, there were people playing tennis and about 5 courts open. The tennis courts are all hard surface and it felt good to play on them. The nets seemed well kept as well. I have no complaints about the conditions of the court. The park itself has a big grassy field that sits on a hill just across from the tennis courts. I heard that there used to be a swimming pool here but that has since been removed. I didn't get to walk around the other side of the park. PROS -- Clean park with plenty of tennis courts. CONS -- There aren't many benches to sit on by the big grassy field and I didn't see any swings or play activities for kids. I don't have kids but I'm assuming that families with kids would prefer a park with swings or slides. Well, now that I think about it, there are benches by a big open structure in the ground which I hear will become a man-made pond soon. Be careful if you bring kids here because they may easily slide down and fall into it. If I'm in the area again, I'll definitely be back to play tennis since I love tennis. **** - 34/100 total reviews in 2021 - 454 total overall Yelp reviews - Reviewed on 30 May 2021
