Mediacom-Worst company ever--customer service is terrible. You can never count on the rep you get on the phone will know his or her job. Within the last three days reps have told me three different answers relating to the problem I'm having with my on demand. One rep told me I needed to wait twenty-four hours for it to be restored when the last rep explained that it was always working--the box had to be reset. This is not the first experience I have had with this crazy company. It happens all the time. The outside tech reps are good. They hate their own customer service dept. as well. They say the reps don't know their job also. Problem--it takes forever to get them to your house. Will definitely change to another company when my contract is over! I hope Rocco reads this review. He needs to know how poorly trained his employees are. Does anybody know if Direct TV pays Mediacom's penalty fee if you cancel and change to them? Joan read more

So I am only giving them 1 star because that is the lowest you can go. In no way am I complaining about the employees, they are only doing their jobs and I believe relaying the information they have in front of them. As for the company MediaCom, I don't believe I have ever dealt with a company that has less integrity and honesty when dealing with their customers. I have spent hours doing a variety of house troubleshooting and going to get new modems because Mediacom thought that was the issue. I am a techy and I knew what I was being directed to do was basically BS but just in case thy were correct I did the troubleshooting. It has not one time been my issue. it is always MediaCom doing something and affecting the entire neighborhood of over 200 homes. Selling a service has to be a challenge, I get that, but OMG please tell me the truth that you are having issue and maybe I can live with that. I'll never know because the deception is awful. Paying for a premium speed internet means nothing when in a speed test the upload is less than 1 and download single digits. Dial up was better. As for their surveys, the design is to get a good rating and to blame everything on the tech if the issue is not resolved. We've had mediacom for internet provider for just over a year. The 3 stars are for my surprise at fairly decent customer service. Not that the product is in any way an acceptable one. Every month I pay the bill I usually have to schedule a service call as well. Last month, the person asked if I had called tech support (as opposed to just scheduling the service call) & I pretty much told the guy I was done calling. I don't have time for that. Just did the problem. I'm paying wayyy too high a price to have service disruption constantly. The last time they left, my teenagers had to reset the modem & router less than ten minutes after the guy left. So, basically, I had heard nothing but horror stories about mediacom so was not thrilled that this was our only option for ISP. Not happy with product, but customer service is usually very pleasant to work with. Not sure that deserves 3 stars... but in my thoughts... If 0 stars was an option...more accurate. WORST customer service EVER! Had difficulties with wifi connection for nearly 8 mos. "Customer service" is a terrible joke, honestly feel like I must be in an episode of punked. Wait 45 mins to talk to a person who is clearly reading from a script "I can sense you are frustrated". OMG, just get a human being with a brain, some understanding of your product & the ability to help me find a solution. Takes 2 wks to get a "service call", take a morning/afternoon off work to wait for technician. They make something up, criticize the last tech you went thru the charade with, flip some switch, say everything is better & take off before you realize that it's still not fixed....call Mediacomm (when you'd rather go down there & see if Oz is hiding behind a curtain & possibly go postal on these morons) & start the whole process over again. After 4 technicians suggested it & a private guy I hired suggested it, I spent $100- to buy my own modem...still having problems with wiring..... My cell bill has gone through the roof because we have had to use our personal hotspots (can you say data overage??) so that our daughter could complete her homework (internet/google docs needed). Can NOT believe the absolute sub zero level of service, expertise. Service dept techs said they are NOT ALLOWED to call the maintenance dept???? I have requested (& been assured I would receive) call backs-nothing..... There are not words to adequately describe the nightmares of dealing with mediacomm. read more

Mediacom is THE WORST company around here. I've been trying to get them to install Internet for months now. I've had a couple of their contractors out to my place, the first one said that I couldn't get mediacom Internet at my house even though everyone on my road has mediacom and that I should just go with another provider because they "don't usually run a line to just one home". Mediacom called me a couple weeks later asking if I wanted to reschedule my canceled appointment and I told them what their contractor said and told them that they needed to run a line to my house. A few weeks later, the second contractor came with no "crew" to run a line and said that they would need to set up a time where a crew could come out (so again wasted my time and we're not prepared). It had been a few more weeks and no one contacted me to set up an appointment to run a line. I called around Christmas and told them everything that had happened so far and the representative told me that she'd have a supervisor contact me within 4 days. It's been a few more weeks and I just called them again today and flipped my lid. The lady told me that they will not be able to run any lines until spring. It would have been nice if someone could have at least contacted me and told me that. I told her that they have lost my business and are continuing to lose business fast. read more

Internet drops every 7 min for 30sec to 4 min. I've many, many, many appointments over the last 6 months. They arrive and tell me its an issue with equipment in the area and there is nothing they can do. They put a work order in for another crew and nothing changes. They told me they would credit my account until the problem is fixed but then they still bill me 70 dollars a month. Rental for their equipment and service fees. Why would I pay for fees and rental for equipment that doesn't do anything without a signal coming into my house? Absolutely criminal. Then several months in they said they will no longer be able to credit my account because I've canceled my last several appointments. This was plain false. They come over, come in, and tell me that they cannot do anything to help me and then THEY cancel the appointment. I put a complaint into the FCC and they responded to the FCC by saying they did some equipment replacements in my area and everything had returned to normal. Again, completely false. I have had at least 16 appointments after that with them telling me they still have an issue in the area. There is NO ONE else to get internet from in my area. I've even offered to pay for AT&T to extend their range into my area. This company is a criminal organization plain and simple. Disgusting. I don't know how they even keep anyone working there with such low moral standards. I would see how this is run and immediately quit. Shame on anyone who is a part of this disgusting company. read more

The worst cable and internet provider in the area. Absolutely horrible customer service, if you go into the actual business all they do is tell you to call the customer service line, so I called it and all they did was tell me to go into the store or that he could schedule a person to come out in 14 business days and Id have to pay for him to come out and help me. I honestly do not know how this place is still in business. Ive had so many issues with them and every single time they have no one that knows what to do. Worst internet/cable provider EVER!! You have to wait a week for technical support!! My box hasn't worked properly since I signed up for service February 2007! I travel for work, so trying to make an appointment a week out is not convenient! When I had DirectTV and had problems there was someone there that day or the next to fix them. read more

Mediacoms BIG LIE is that DSL and Satellite don't work together. Complete BS because I have had DSL and Direct TV for over 10 years without issue whatsoever. Yet Everyday Mediacom runs a commercial that keeps trying to convince people that they can not use either of them together. They make no attempt to explain their reasoning, just stating that they could not possibly work in the same house together. What a way to try to solicit new customers. Mediacom needs to get a life and stop lying because nothing at all will work for you if you have the service they offer. read more

Holy shit my service with Mediacom has been terrible. Speeds are regularly less than 50% of what I pay for, packet loss is high, I have CONSTANT outages (like 10-15 PER DAY lasting between 10 and 90 minutes EACH). I've had three techs scheduled to come look at it. The first one came inside, asked where my cable line was, and then left without doing anything. The second one never even showed for the appointment. The third one did replace my cable line and my modem, but somehow that immediately made the problem worse. After that, a phone technician logged into my modem to change the settings in an attempt to fix the issue, and somehow managed to make the issue EVEN WORSE THAN BEFORE, and hung up without even TRYING to fix what she had done. I'm ready to shop for a new ISP, Mediacom is shit. read more

This is the worst internet provider I have ever experienced. Spend the extra money to save you from pulling your hair out. They have horrible customer support and will not help you with any of the problems you have. They are super slow on responding to calls and can't fix anything when they finally get around to you. You may as well be dealing with old dial-up internet because these guys suck. Good luck watching Netflix on a daily basis without ten interruptions per episode. I cannot stress how bad Mediacom is compared to anyone else. Please find someone else so they have to step their game up. read more

Mediacom is the worst internet provider ever with as many times as my internet cut out or as many times as I have gone with out internet I should of paid them not to have internet (at least then I'd be getting what I paid for) because that's basically what I did I pay them a large amount of money for Internet every month and every day the Internet cut out and would be off for hours Mediacoms representatives/ Associates also have little to no idea what they are talking about if your choices are no internet and Mediacom you would be better off with no internet then you would save money read more

I have the highspeed internet 50mbps. Knock on wood but I have not had an outage in nearly two years. Power went out. Plugged internet gear and computers into a generator and my internet was still there. read more

Well, the internet service itself, is up and running, and is great. However, I have had to make frequent phone calls to them for various reasons. The first disappointment, was when they came to install my service, they didn't tell me until the time of installation, that they were out of wireless hubs and could only connect it with a cord, and it would be a month before they had any hubs again. The second disappointment was a month later, when my internet spontaneously stopped working. I called and a technician came out only to discover that my internet had mistakenly been disconnected. I had to call the following month because I was over-charged for the service. I ended up buying my own modem and wireless hub, but was charged a rental fee for both anyway. They removed the charges, but I had to call again the following month for the same issue. The service agents were always polite and resolved my situations, but the fact that I've had to call so often has been quite a nuisance. read more
