Poor service. Constantly down. Raises prices every other month, but I haven't consistently had working internet in about 2 years. When I've called asking for a refund for the time my internet is down, I've been told they'll only issue a refund if I reported my internet down in advance. Then, if u report my internet down and ask for a refund, I'm told they'll only issue a refund after the outage has been fixed and I'd need to call back at that time. Mediacom convinced us to buy the fastest internet speed available in our area, assuring us that it was the most reliable. Have had numerous packet loss events, disconnections on a constant basis. The internet slows to a crawl within the same two hour window each night, suggesting that despite we have the fastest speed, we are throttled or deprioritized. A single phone call to their customer service, they assured us we were not being throttled, but internet worked for twenty-four hours perfectly, and then it was dropping again in the same way. Consider another service. They also allowed their local office building to close, meaning all service calls are from techs that are 30+ minutes away and I sincerely doubt they have the will to come up here at all. read more

price went up another 50.00 dollars this month. Total bill over $300.00 for tv and internet. Have been a loyal customer for years. Called and of course they cant do anything about it. I canceled the tv service but wanted to keep the internet (around 65.00 a month).. Nope that is not 95.00 a month now. What the heck...I said new customers get it for around 65.00 a month. So i can't cancel and sign back up for that. Nope. So loyal customers get robbed. You know you could keep your loyal customers happy by not jacking them around. I have several friends that are dealing with this right now with mediacom and the only reason they are not switching is because of the hassle of switching. They will bill you for things you dont get and then refuse to 'fix' it. If you quit they will continue to bill you without telling you and then claim they shut you off for non payment and report you to the credit bureaus. Not once in 2 years did they tell me this was going on until I tried to sign up for service. They will continue to say the same things over and over without telling you anything and again refuse to figure out what happened. They will then continue to call you to 'finish' the sign up process as if nothing has happened, but only if you pay the bill you were never aware even existed because it was for service after you quit. I had internet-only Mediacom service for 10 lousy years. The connection is slow and unstable with constant outage issues. Slowly ratcheted my price up over time, almost to 2x my original price. If you own your equipment, they instantly blame that rather than investigate. When Metronet was building up in the area I constantly asked Mediacom reps on the phone what they were going to do to retain me as a customer, and all I got was silence. I'm now a happy Metronet customer with no regrets dumping Mediacom. Faster speeds, symmetrical up/down speed, no data cap, reliable service, and GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND SUPPORT. I get a good laugh thinking about how many thousands of customers are leaving Mediacom daily. They were warned, yet did nothing. Mediacom deserves to go bankrupt. read more

If I could give negative stars I would. We moved to Iowa on 8/21 and got internet only service on 8/23. So a few days after getting it, we would lose internet connection and I would have to reset modem. No biggie at first then a couple days later I was resting EVERY OTHER DAY! Last week (Sept 14 & 15) we had absolutely no internet. I couldn't work or do homework for classes. A tech came out on the 16th and seemed like it was resolved only to wake up today to try to get some work done and NOTHING! I'm not sure how there's no other internet company but them to chose from but their service is unreliable! If I didn't have work to do, I would use rabbit ears!! read more

Awful customer service and awful internet. We have been trying for the past month to figure out our internet issues. Download speed is fine, but the upload speed is abysmal. We pay for the 200/20 service and we're lucky to get more than 3 or 4 Mbps upload. Replaced the coax, replaced the splitter, just replaced the modem and we are still getting throttled. Had an appointment between 10-12 today and they cancelled it because we didn't answer the phone call that never went through on our phones. This company is a joke! i have had an upload speed issue for over 3 months and a number of techs out look at the issue. the first techs came and replaced all the lines, but i still have the issue and each time i call to report it they send another tech who hooks up a meter to lines says its fine and then leaves. nothing else has been done to fix my issue. read more

My husband and I contacted Mediacom regarding a package that looked like a good deal. We had concerns because two of the installs for cable would be on an LCD. The Sales Rep assured us that would not be a problem since it would be run through a box. We ordered it for 4 TV's, and were told that there would be no additional charges for the extra TV's as long as it didn't exceed 4. When the Installation Techs showed up they only had one box and remote. We were informed that in order to get 3 more we would be charged an additional $10.50 per box! We called customer service and initially were told to go pick up the boxes at the local Mediacom office. The Installation Techs told us that it was a lie, that they did this to customers everyday - that we should call back to confirm. We called back and asked if we were still going to be charged and they said yes. No matter what we said they would not work with us on this matter. We are very upset and feel as though this should have been disclosed at the time of the sale. We get 1/2 the channels on the other TV(s), and 2 of them don't even work because there are no boxes! Do not get Mediacom it is nothing but junk and the technicians are a joke, each one telling me what the last one did wrong and the last one was the worst. I called about the same problem 3 times now, it has not been repaired and after today's tech. it is worse. Each time I call it is 11/2 to 2 weeks wait for service. I called soon after the tech. left today to get him back because he did a horrible job and I wanted it fixed, everything is much worse after his visit, I was told that it will be another week and a half wait for them to return. Well guess what, there is soon to be a new game in town called Metronet and as soon as I can, I am going to switch to them. I would go to Dish or DirecTV now but I do not want to switch to them and then have to switch again when I can get Metronet. Just another greedy, corporate devil looking to milk you for your money with outrageous prices that they can get away with because it's either them or Comcast. They throttle internet nightly, sometimes to 1/10th speeds they advertise, and when you call and ask they just blame it on traffic or tell you to reset your router. They charge you for every little thing, and their customer service is the worst I've ever experienced. You call, you talk to a computer until your fuming angry, you finally get someone on the phone and they don't even speak English. While the people at Mediacom are typically pretty nice, this is the WORST internet I've ever had. We have the internet go out multiple times a day and when we have someone come to check it out, they say they've fixed it or it's a problem for our area but will be fixed... and it NEVER is. We've upgraded packages and all to see if it would get better that way as well. It doesn't. The problem also with this, is there aren't any other options for where my house is, in Rock Island, so we can't switch companies. It's pathetic and a waste of money. read more

Literally the most garbage company I have ever had the experience of using. Internet cut out during an online exam, and 5 other times during that 1 hour time span (not exaggerating). Had 3 technicians come in one week only to keep having the same issue, and media-com uses these *technicians* as their only solution. Technicians themselves were rude and essentially told me to go tell my problems to someone else after I asked why we were consistently having issues after they came. There's no other viable competitor (barring Dish), and Mediacom is very well aware of this. A complaint about another internet outage gave me around a dollar in change in discount, and no apology from customer service. I work from home and Mediacom's spotty internet is my lifeline. It's one thing that outages happen--it's another that 1. the only alternative is CenturyLink, which really isn't broadband, and 2. Mediacom knows we have no leverage. One star for that alone. Mediacom-Worst company ever--customer service is terrible. You can never count on the rep you get on the phone will know his or her job. Within the last three days reps have told me three different answers relating to the problem I'm having with my on demand. One rep told me I needed to wait twenty-four hours for it to be restored when the last rep explained that it was always working--the box had to be reset. This is not the first experience I have had with this crazy company. It happens all the time. The outside tech reps are good. They hate their own customer service dept. as well. They say the reps don't know their job also. Problem--it takes forever to get them to your house. Will definitely change to another company when my contract is over! I hope Rocco reads this review.
