Boba tea in a pharmacy?!?! Come again? Yeah you heard right. The concept stems from wellness and comfort, which could fit the mold for any. Two seemingly different worlds blended into a unique concept. Now I can't speak to utilizing any of the pharmacy services and products, but when it came down to their drinks. It definitely was better than I expected. I expected the drink to be mediocre the same way I expect hometown buffet's take on gourmet food to be. That being said the only direction to go is up and definitely enjoyed it. I had the mango green tea and it was super refreshing. The staff there was incredibly nice and able to modify the drink to how I wanted it. I the vibe I get is very positive and I do look forward to coming back! read more

This is my second time going to Medella Boba, first time was a week ago for a Yelp Elite event. I figured I would write a review for the business this second time around since I am a paying customer now. Overall I'm giving this boba spot 5 stars. Their drinks are fantastic! I had a coconut milk tea and it was delicious! Better than at a few other boba locations I've tried it at. I also bought a Green Apple Lemonade and it's really good, super refreshing. I also love the concept of the pharmacy and soda fountain shop reminiscent of the olden days (lol). For a weekend, it's not too busy with plenty of seats inside and plenty of parking. Overall, highly recommend Medella for some good Boba! read more

Perhaps the most unique new business to Downey to date is Medella Pharmacy and Boba. A popular hangout in the afternoons for Downey High students, I made my first visit here well in advance of their after school shenanigans for my own boba break. The staff is very nice and helpful. Don't be surprised if one is working in the pharmacy and comes out to greet you (and washes their hands before creating your drink). Good place for a refreshing iced tea or coffee... or both. The boba isn't my absolute favorite - it's just a bit too hard. Deeply appreciate this business helping out our daughters' PTA fundraiser. Dude! This must be the place where they send all the Chick-fil-A and In-N-Out employees to train on how to have amazing customer service, because... ...EVERY single employee that works at Medella Boba, and I mean all of them, has been the nicest, most friendly and customer oriented employee ever. You can sense it in their smile and demeanor and way they treat you. They're just so happy and not in a fake way. You would swear making drinks for customers was their dream since they were little. This is their calling! Kudos to every single one of you! (I apologize that I don't remember each of your names!) As for the drinks, I've only ever had the Java Chip with whip cream and boba and dang has it always come out tasty! I literally think about coming here after work on the way home. My lovely wife has always ordered the iced matcha latte (no ice, lol) and she loves/enjoys it the next day at work! This review is long overdue, but I just had to leave one finally. And again, I'm beating myself up for not writing/remembering each of your names. But just so you know who I am! Check out my Yelp picture. I'm in often enough. This boba shop quickly has become one of my favorites. My usual go-to spots are either in Artesia or Cerritos, so knowing that this place is in Downey (where I live), coming to here is much more convenient and time appropriate. I'm very heavy on quality of boba and theirs is really good here! And the consistency of the drinks are also really yummy as well I've tried different frappes--white chocolate mocha, pistachio, spiced cocoa and strawberry banana. I've tried one tea and one slush! The only thing I WISH THEY HAD or would consider having in store is adding Matcha to their frappe's My mom and I both love matcha and there's this spot out in Gardena (by my moms work) that sells them really good. Very interesting setting. As other reviews have indicated, this boba spot is located in a local pharmacy. Not the most common setting I've seen, but it definitely adds some flavor to this place! I had the thai tea with boba and a friend got the Hokkaido tea with boba. Mine was perfect, but she said her Hokkaido tea was a little sweet. They used a powdered mix for my Milk tea boba was not good at all for a good boba. So far the best black tea milk boba I've tried is at Bay Poke in Santa Fe Springs they brew freshly batch of black tea leaves every day and the Boba is amazing read more

It was awkward coming to a boba spot that shared space with a pharmacy, but I looked past that fact and realized the drink was pretty good. I ordered a mango green tea boba. Felt like there was a good amount of mango flavor for my liking, but not enough boba added in so that was disappointing. Other than that, it also took a little longer to get my drink because there was only one guy working at the time since his colleague was on break. Unfortunately I can't recommend the milk tea here despite all the positive reviews. The milk and sweetness overpower any tea flavor. The lady working here is nice which was why I gave an extra star. I miss the Ding Tea that was at Apollo Way (RIP). The search for a new great milk tea spot continues. read more

Such a cute boba spot, despite the weird location as some have said. Yes, it is inside a pharmacy but I think it's innovative and unique. The drinks were spot on and so delicious! Visited this little boba spot/pharmacy for the first time and had a mango green tea with boba. It was a good little refresher. Taste was good, but it was hard to give it a 5 because I've had this exact drink elsewhere for the last 7 years and think that they have a better mango green tea. Anyway, the boba at Medella was super good, nice and chewy how I like it and not too soft to the point where it's dissolving like other places have it sometimes. Great boba spot! Interesting location to be placed in a pharmacy...but, there's a history lesson for you as to why! As you wait for your boba, you can read some history on the wall as to why the two mesh (pharmacy and boba). I got one of the coffee bobas which was really good! My partner got the horchata boba and it tasted a little like a protein shake, but it was nonetheless good. Plus, staff were very nice and personable! read more

Kids were looking for a good boba place and Yelp guided us here! It was different to see a boba place inside a pharmacy but regardless, it was nice & clean. Customer service is great! Very nice and answered all our questions since it was our first time there. They sell cute little stickers, AirPod cases and keychains too. We ordered a Tiger Tea, Honey Milk Boba and Matcha. The only one we loved and would go back for is the Tiger tea. It's a mix of milk tea and Thai tea. Matcha needed more flavor, it was simple. Honey milk boba was very aromatic, I personally wasn't a fan at all. Only suggestion would be to put more ice in cups. They only put a few in each cup and we like a lot of ice so the drink is nice and refreshing. read more

Came to pick up some basic last minute meds and discovered delicious boba! Haven't had boba this good ever since I lived deep in OC. Not to mention the service was great. Chill little boba spot tucked in a wonky little pharmacy. We stopped by during the pandemic, so the pharmacy was closed, but no matter because we came for the boba! I had a blended taro boba which was so tasty! Hadn't had one in years and this one may have gotten me re-hooked. My fiancee ordered a non-blended coconut boba, which she enjoyed as well. Great experience today 2-22-2020 at the pharmacy. They have anything you need as far as over the counter drugs. They are willing to look into getting anything they don't have. And I am sure any questions you have about getting your prescriptions sent there could be answered by their friendly intelligent staff. And the coffee was bomb! Great space and environment. The croissant itself was disappointing -- it didn't taste fresh, and this was only about 30 minutes after opening. For $7.50, I expected a lot more, especially compared to other spots serving matcha pistachio croissants that are both tastier and more affordable. The shop was nice and clean and it has plenty of seating. That said, their matcha is still easily in my top 3 -- that part never disappoints. I'll keep coming back for that, but I'll be skipping the coffee and pastries going forward.

The spot itself had plenty of parking, and inside was cute with mariachi music playing. It felt welcoming, clean, and had plenty of seating. Overall, 5 stars. Definitely meets authenticity, too!

Today I learned I don't really like the flavor of banana leaf that gets absorbed into the tamal. Also, it was primarily made of rice. It had a piece of bell pepper, a little chicken and I think a plum. Aside from the banana leaf I liked the tamale. The latte was delicious. Nice coffee flavor and sweetened perfectly. Definite recommend and I will for sure be back.

I went with the Mayan Mocha, the tamal Chapin, and a chuchito. The Mayan Mocha was the standout. It had this bold, sweetish flavor with notes I've never tasted in coffee before. The tamal Chapin was a bit bland overall and had very little chicken inside. The chuchito had a nice salsa with good flavor, but the masa itself felt a little dry with each bite, even though it was bathed in sauce. The coffee alone makes this place worth a visit.
