Aside from that, the salmon smelled and tasted funny, I honestly thought it was the sauce they poured over top of it. We came in on a week night, which was relatively packed house as seating was a bit scarce. The front desk interaction was less than stellar. We weren't met with a welcome to the restaurant or anything for that matter. The lady just kind of stared at me until we started to order which was a bit awkward. Proceeded to ask a few questions but felt like I was annoying the cashier by asking if they had an appetizer or just sides of Falafel's. Turns out its just a side by the way :) Because she just said one order of Falafel's, ya know, vs asking if I wanted it. Customer service is the only reason for this 3 star rating. The hummus, shawarmabaa and kids chicken bowl was all great! Hummus is quite good and likely a big reason for returning. Shawarmabaa was full of flavor and delicious. Kids Chicken Bowl....that thing had quite a bit of a food for the price. Even if you ordered this at the adult rate, it would be worth the price. Complimentary bread as you sat down was GREAT. You get to make your own dipping sauce, which honestly isn't even needed with this bread. Managers walking around were very friendly and nice. Food delivery---young-adult....almost like the cashier....unfriendly and not-so-welcoming attitude. Don't recall interaction but my wife & I looked at one another questioning what the heck is going on this evening. Overall; food was great and worth giving this place a try. Very likely could have come on a day when stuff was hitting the fan and it set back some employees moods. read more

I am so happy that Meddys is now in my neighborhood! The city center area desperately needed more variety than just bars and grills and this is the perfect addition for that area. I went for the first time today, but I ordered online ahead of time to go during the lunch rush hour. The space is very modern and clean. Cute outdoor patio as well. As I walked in, an employee was making sure all the windows were cleaned and the doors were sanitized. I was standing in line for about five seconds, the manager immediately greeted me and asked if I would like a menu. I told him I was here for a to go order and he quickly ran back and grabbed it for me and even offered me to go or drink on my way out. As soon as I got home, I tore in! I opted for the hummus stacked bowl with beef Shawarma, and pita bread. Holy moly, the amount of food for the price was incredible! Even the presentation in my to go box was beautiful. You can tell they use lots of fresh vegetables and the hummus was so smooth and delicious. Beef shawarma had lots of flavor and they don't skimp on portions!!! I really liked the pita bread as well. It was soft and had the perfect amount of flavor. I cannot wait to bring friends and family back to this place and even try some of their drinks at the bar next time. I'v visited multiple locations, but frequent the Lenexa Meddy's. Tonight, I ordered the Main Plate to go, with lamb, veggies and hummus. It's enough for 2 people, easily. Everything was fresh, flavorful and delicious! I waited only about 7 minutes for the food to arrive. The food was still hot when I arrived home. Meddy's has become a favorite! So good! read more

Probably won't be back; didn't do much for me...but all the positive reviews leaves me wondering if we just didn't order the right thing??? So maybe if a friend really wanted to go I'd give it a 2nd shot? Not sure if they have specific menu items they are known for? Maybe I'm a food snob; I've only found 1 Mediterranean restaurant in the KC area since moving here that I would happily return to. I love Mediterranean food (friend's uncle had a Lebanese restaurant growing up), so was excited to try this place (thus earned a star in my book). Interacted with multiple staff, who were all super friendly (worthy of another star). Liked the atmosphere, with indoor & outdoor seating options (3rd star)...but ultimately I go out to eat for the food, which we found disappointing. When the food came, first impression was that the portion size was WAY too much...and in my opinion, this is not the type of food to easily box up, take home, and eat later. I can't remember the last time I left that much food on my plate to go to waste (and at 40lb overweight, I don't eat like a bird, pretty much a lifelong clean-your-plate club member). Would have preferred 1/2 the quantity/volume even if 3/4 the cost (not sure if they've considered 1/2 portions?). What we tried... Hummus - was a little too creamy for my liking, I prefer a little texture, and seemed to be lacking something in the flavor (possibly tahini/lemon juice?). Falafel - pretty bland & tasteless, could not force myself to eat all of them Tabbouleh - ok, but way too much, and not any better than I've made at home Tomato/Eggplant soup? - no desire to keep eating after a few spoonfuls Garlicky Chicken Platter - difficult to eat chicken on the bone (oops, might have had a Pretty Women moment of a piece accidentally going flying, since didn't fall off the bone easily), and garlic potatoes were super oily (would have preferred a little crunch on the outside). Chicken skin had some flavor, but unfortunately didn't permeate into the meat. Never been to another Meddy's, so not sure if this new location is still dialing in the flavor profiles, or if it is consistent with the others. read more

Most everything about Meddy's is very good. Food taste freshly delishious. The menu has a wide variety for all tastes. Service has been superb each time I've been here. One thing that I could not deal with is the noise level. The music is played way too loud. Even the live musician outside's sound was way too loud where we found ourselves yelling the whole time we were there trying to have a conversation. Please address this issue by adding acoustics or simply turn the volume down. read more
