I wanted to like this place, but being sensitive I won't go back. It wasn't so much a taste issue as it was texture. I keep my selection simple when going out to eat, so I ordered the bean, rice and cheese burrito with onions and cilantro. Extra spicy. The red chili was delicious, I asked for extras. Burrito came wrapped in parchment and aluminum foil. Perhaps it sat too long?? Problem I had was the flour tortilla. It felt like raw dough. I so much prefer a toasted burrito. It felt like I was eating a mushy tortilla, which can do a number on my head and stomach. Taste and hot sauce kept me eating it. I did wake feeling like a dragon (too many onions). Next morning upset stomach. Nothing charcoal can't take away. I hated to review not so great because the gal at counter was sweet, place was clean, but empty. I did read good reviews prior to going. I've come to realize that even my favorite restaurants have a bad day. One restaurant I reviewed went downhill on second visit. I do know staff has a lot to do with much. Time to search for a new burrito place. A breakfast burrito without the egg (or meat) to be exact. Potato, cheese, onion, with something green and toasted, should anyone know of any, I'm all ears. read more

It felt like coming over to a friend's house and having their mom cook you food. Bonus, getting to talk to their cool sisters Ester & Debra. Oh and the food? Wow. We absolutely loved the quesatacos. My partner kept talking about these mushroom quesatacos from Mexico City but we've never seen them here. Mama Noemí made us the cutest little sample ones. We tried mushrooms, asada, and birria. Heard about this place on ig. It did not disappoint. I've had a really hard time finding good Mexican food in the HD. I'm so happy I came across this place. The queso taco is big, tortillas homemade and filled with meat! Both red and green salsa are amazing. The service is excellent, it reminded me of visiting my Tia. We have finally found our spot. Mecres is near Outpost Cafe next to the Indian Cuisine restaurant off the 395. The corn tortillas are hand made, my hubby loved both of his tacos. I had a very filling Birria Burrito (no rice) with queso. It was fantastic! The cheese paired perfectly with the birria and lime, ot was fantastic. The beans were delicious as well. Hubby and I thought we'd try the new Mexican spot by Pilot Truck Stop because it is conveniently located right off the freeway and on the way home. When we entered, we were greeted by a young lady (we later learned her name was Ether) at the counter who welcomed us and asked if it was our first time there. She explained they had been open less than 1 month. We began talking about the restaurant, and I asked questions while 2 gentlemen were finishing their lunch. This restaurant is completely family owned and operated. Esther offered "sample tacos" so we could try the birria. I'm a huge fan of birria. And this tiny taco was so good. The size is very generous for a sample (2 big bites or 3 average bites). After the first bite, I was sold on the birria. She explained they make everything there, including the tortillas. She also said they may be adding Mole to the menu. I hope they do. The menu is small with the typical meat choices. They offer a vegetarian option with mushroom and a keto option with a cheese taco shell (I don't recall what she called those). Something for everyone without going overboard on options. Went there for the first time today, went to the bathroom to wash my hands. The bathroom was filthy. Went to the counter and no one was there. There was a bell so I rang it. No one came out, I waited and rang the bell again 3 times. A girl came out with a look on her face like what do you want. Another employee was behind her and asked what I wanted to order.
