For my birthday, my hubby and I went to Meat & Brew in Silang, Cavite, Philippines. The restaurant has a rustic atmosphere with a bar for drinks, and sturdy tables and chairs.
They delivered a fantastic dining experience, offering high-quality ingredients, generous portions, and well-executed dishes. While the meal came out to around $140 USD, it was well worth the price given the portion sizes and premium cuts of meat.
We started with the seafood chowder, which was thick, hearty, and packed with mussels, clams, and shrimp. It had great flavor, though it would have been even better with some bread or crackers to soak up the broth. In place of the bread, we ordered a side of fries, which were piping hot and crispy.
For our entree, we chose the ribeye sampler, which featured three different cuts: St. Helen's Angus Ribeye, a Five Star Choice Grade Ribeye, and a Four Star Choice Grade Ribeye. Surprisingly, there wasn't a huge difference in taste between them, but each was well-marbled and cooked to perfection. The au gratin potatoes and Mexican corn salad came as sides with the sampler. The potatoes had the perfect balance of creamy and cheesy, while the corn salad--made with loose corn, peppers, and chunks of white cheese--added a refreshing, if rather spicy, contrast to the richness of the steak.
For dessert, we ended with the s'mores brownie sundae, which featured a chewy brownie topped with a hot fudge drizzle, vanilla ice cream, roasted marshmallows, and whipped cream. The marshmallows had a nice, toasty, caramelized flavor, making the dessert taste as decadent as it sounds.
Overall, Meat & Brew impressed us with its quality steaks, generous portions, and well-balanced flavors. While it is on the pricier side, the experience made it worth every penny. If you're looking for a great steakhouse in Cavite, this place is absolutely worth a visit! read more
