Cheese selection to clean the palate before the devouring the mains.

Good food and good drinks. Service was also good. We were well attended, even the owner/Exec Chef Carlos came to our table to check on us. A must try in the menu are the lamb dishes (Rack of Lamb and the Lamb Shoulders), the Scallops, Beef Fillet with marrow and the Grouper with Squid ink risotto. Very good desserts too...Tiramisu (Black Pig version) and the Calamnsi-Dalandan pie is superb. Definitely one of the restaurants to go back to. Highly recommended if you want to eat food that is gastronomically original and superb taste.

Buffet style for large parties

We wanted to book something special for my gfs grandmother whom was celebrating her 75th birthday. We inquired at local hotels in the filinvest area but non could offer food that deviates from the typical buffet spread of chicken cordon bleu, chop suey, pork afritada, etc. we know we wanted the food to be the co-star of the dinner and so through suggestions we ended up here at Black Pig. We had our own private area in the restaurant which included a bar and a private entrance to the balcony. We served buffet style. The food was nothing short of incredible, however the couscous had too much olive oil making it mushy. We started with the Chorizo Iberico it's smokiness was the perfect start. Our main course included roasted pork belly paired with an apple chutney, seared ahi tuna, salad, couscous with roasted vegetables, and cheesecake for dessert. Excuse me for not getting the names correctly :) as I'm doing from my memory. The drink selection was unique as well. They carried an array of craft beer, so please try them and support these local craft beer geniuses. The service was great as the staff and the chefs/ owners introduced themselves to us and made sure we had a great overall dining experience in which we did. I would definitely eat here again to try more of their creations.

Porkchop made perfect.

We were in a hurry; our movie was going to show in 45 minutes, so we asked our server what she would recommend from the menu. When she spoke, it really sounded like she didn't know what to say but had to hide that fact, and so she recommended A WHOLE SECTION. Yep, a whole section! It would have been better if she asked someone who might know the right answer. We so wanted to be delighted for our first visit. 4 Stars, though, are deserved for the awesome shrimp and mushroom risottos, and the pork chop that we made disappear! And they served the food quick just as promised! Definitely worth a second trip! At the very least.

I absolutely love everything about this place from their interiors, the ambiance, the very polite and attentive servers, friendly chefs, the drinks and most importantly the food! The Black Pig is located in an upscale neighborhood. They serve real quality dishes that not only taste good but also look beautiful on a plate! I usually head on over to the Black Pig when I want to have a wine night with some cheese and sausages to match, or a light meal to go with their many different kinds of beer both local, and foreign (Yay)! When I want an appetizer or two, I usually order their Pot of Fries Pickles and their Fried Potato Wedges. For their mains, I've only tried two of their dishes so far, The Rack of Lamb (pulled lamb shoulder, black olive gnocchi, tomato, & balsamic caramel), and a variation of their eggs called Sobrassada which is served with crispy potato, tomato bernaise sauce. For their cocktails, my favorite is their very own Calamansi Mojito! My second favorite is the Green Mango Margarita! I have no words to describe how good these drinks are, you must try them for yourself. :)

A very special place indeed! Great menu, amazing quality food (Spanish/European), affordable price and, to top it, friendly and service-minded team from the waiters to the Chef. A MUST VISIT in Alabang!

Just giving them sashimi doesn't cut it anymore. It's something they can have at Yakimix or Sambokojin for half the price. You have to add something a bit more so that diners can rationalize for themselves that they got what they paid for. In Bellevue's Café d' Asie in Alabang, they serve what you'd normally see in hotel buffets - sashimi, rib-eye steak, and fresh shrimps. What I like that I don't see in other places though, is the Mongolian barbecue station. It's really not much, but I like it, especially since you can have as many shrimps as you can as opposed to going to a dedicated Mongolian buffet which doesn't even have shrimp. This, coupled with the fact that the staff of Bellevue are among the best, is enough to make someone like me from the other side of the Metro be willing to make the long trek there because I know I'm getting my money's worth.

We went to Bellevue after work at around seven in the morning, most of the tables were still empty and the waiters were very accommodating in leading us to the large round table that we have previously reserved. The ambience was high -class and elegant, and the almost 50 foot chandelier hanging above gave a wonderful site and superior feel to the area. I usually go to Café d'Asie at dinner with my family, but today I experienced dining at breakfast time. When I'm in a buffet setting, I usually target the Japanese section and go for the sashimis, but sadly, (maybe because they were still serving breakfast), my usual favorite dishes like roast beefs, lechon, steaks, cakes and desserts were still not available. Nevertheless, I've discovered some great tasting breakfast dishes such as their Swiss Muesli; after thorough observation I noticed that it was a combination of oats, nuts, apples, yogurt, milk, raisins, walnuts, almonds, milk and honey- and wow, it's a perfect ten for all the oatmeals that I've eaten my life. They have breads and pastries, several imported cheeses, meats, hams, bacon, muffins, croisaants, imported yogurt,, spreads, ommeletes, danggits, crispy squids, Korean and Mongolian sections, a lot of fresh and vegetables. Previously, dining at Cafe d' Asie does not include drinks, but now I had a choice between mango juice, orange juice , iced tea or coffee. The hotel manager was kind enough to give us a huge corporate discount and gave the buffet rates at a very affordable price. Truly a bang for the buck.

Breakfast is the one thing that I look forward to whenever we check in on any hotel. To date, the best breakfast buffet that I have eaten in is at the Cafe Eight! I'm glad that we have been given the best place where we can conveniently have breakfast with our toddler and have our bulky stroller by our side without making it hard for others to pass by. The waiters were already on their toes as there were a lot of us who planned to have an early breakfast. Our coffee was served promptly as we were busy hoisting our son's booster seat on the dining chair. As my husband and I took turns in getting food for ourselves and for our little one, we cannot keep smiling as we hop from one buffet table to the next seeing our favorites and discovering new dishes. The omelette station was a hit and plenty of people were lining up for it but the staff assigned to that station were able to manage us well. I like it that the waiters were prompt to refill the empty trays with warm food that we didn't have to wait for our plates to be filled. Also, they were prompt to clear our table of empty plates just so we could conveniently place our newly filled ones. Oh how I'd love to have another breakfast buffet at Cafe Eight soon!

It can get quite confusing getting there at first, but just trust the occasional signs you encounter and the GPS of your mobile phones. Vieux Chalet also doubles as a bed & breakfast, so you can actually stay the night there while you watch the Antipolo night sky envelop the Manila skyline. In the restaurant, you'll likely be greeted by the restaurant manager Rico Doy, who is the best at what he does. If you're still unsure on what to order, don't hesitate to ask him for his recommendations. If you're a fan of arugula like me, you'll be enamored with their salad, which is generously peppered with the piquant green. For the main course, the beef tenderloin drizzled with mushroom sauce will send you writhing in ecstasy as it's just that good. So if you're looking for a date place and want to avoid Tagaytay as it has become to cliché of late, head on over to Antipolo and Vieux Chalet!

Tucked away in a village in Antipolo, Vieux Chalet is actually the home of the owners, which they converted into a restaurant, and bed and breakfast. I have tried several kinds of salad, pasta, pizza and mains, having been there several times. What I like most about their pizza and pasta is that they make it from scratch, so the taste and texture is really different and you can really distinguish the good quality of the dough and the noodles or the ravioli. My must-orders would be their raclette and the chocolate cake ala mode. With Vieux Chalet serving predominantly Swiss and European cuisine, it's no surprise that they offer good raclette, complete with olives, boiled potatoes, young corn, pickled onions, and gherkins (my personal favorite!). The cherry-infused chocolate cake is made with no other than Swiss chocolate and is topped with homemade (you guessed it!) Swiss dark chocolate ice cream. Indeed, Vieux Chalet is a restaurant born from the passion for food and accommodating guests into their home, with homemade dishes carefully and passionately prepared. At Vieux Chalet, happiness is indeed homemade.

This quaint shop is first and foremost a bakery but they also offer meals, coffee, and snacks on the side. The smell of chocolate and bread in the oven wafting from the kitchen greet customers the moment they step inside this bread house. On the counter you will see various types of dinner rolls, croissants, buns, and breads. Although they serve familiar dishes, like lechon kawali with rice and chicken shawarma, I chose to try Dutch specialty snacks which -- according to the staff -- were made using traditional means from the Netherlands. I was a bit adventurous so I got Berehap (slices of meat ball and onion on a stick served with peanut sauce) and Bitterballen (small meat-based balls served with mustard, a favorite snack from Holland). My wife was hungry this time and she was not in the mood to try products she can't pronounce so she decided to have parma ham and cheese sandwich. The attendant asked her to choose the type of bread for the sandwich and she picked spelt, a type of bread made from hulled or dinkel wheat that's popular in Europe. Of course, both of us had coffee. I was glad that we decided to drop by this place because the coffee was good as expected from Lavazza and the food was different but surprisingly savory. The spelt bread was tough and heavy so I don't think anyone could finish one order of sandwich using this bread. I liked my order of Berehap. The sausage was a bit salty when eaten on its own but a bite of the sweet onion and a dab of the peanut sauce neutralizes the saltiness. My wife liked the Bitterballen dipped in mustard. She said it was similar to croquettes because it's crunchy on the outside but a bit gooey on the inside. The place is clean, well-maintained, and generally peaceful so I think this is an ideal place for a meeting. It's also worth noting that their restroom faucet comes with hot or cold water. Parking can be a problem but if you do not mind walking for one or two kilometers, you can park your car at Power Plant Mall and just walk your way to Dutch Bread Hauz.
