Great cup of coffee, poor customer service. Went in to order a large Americano and received a double espresso in a 16 ounce cup. I questioned a a double? She confirmed. I walked to the board and asked how am I to order you have a single (small), double (medium), triple (large) the ( ) is what I thought it translated to. She offers I know it is confusing. I been ordering coffee for decades, again great coffee, customer services sucks. The conversation continued(no being admittedly frustrating), I asked if I order a triple what size cup will it come in ( 12 or 16 oz), no response. Great coffee, bad service, think I would rather go to another shop (even though this is so good), would rather spend my money where someone wants me to come back (without confusion). I LOVE mean cup. Their Chai Tea is wonderful, and I love their spiced nuts. It is convenient to be able to go and get work done. The only problem is the hours. I wish they were open later (they close at 5 P.M.). I would love to be able to get work done in the evening hours, but their hours limit that. Most coffee shops stay open until 9 or 10. That would be amazing. Otherwise, I would have given it 5 stars. read more

Love the coffee and never had a problem until I asked for an empty cup to which the response was, "Oh for a drink you bought somewhere else?" The attitude was not appreciated mostly because I spent my whole day there buying coffee and snacks and only went to another place for a juice bc they do not sell juice. read more

Very strange place. I went there with great expectations of staff, coffee, and atmosphere. Was frankly disappointed in all free. The staff is discourteous and a little ostentatious. I mean truly how much do you get for serving a cup of coffee. If that's your job put a smile on your face and say hello. I tried it the second time with a friend of mine who insisted we leave before we drank the coffee. She said it just wasn't a nice place to be in. Must say that I was surprised by her reaction but in truth it only served to strengthen my dislike for the place. Clean, modern, artsy vibe with comfortable seating for adults as well as a little kids corner! Coffee was great and the sandwiches were delicious. Picked up the smoked turkey on focaccia and the vegetarian. Lemon muffin was a bit on the dry side - seemed like it was baked maybe the day before and was thawing to room temp, and the crumble on top had a bit of an off flavor, like a crisco flavor? I'm a coffee connoisseur. One might say a coffee snob, but I try to not be pretentious about it. I do, however, have particular tastes and Mean Cup makes some good coffee. I ordered a double shot of espresso, since that's my go to drink the first time I visit a place (that or a macchiato, though the small amount of dairy disagrees with me...) and I was pleasantly surprised given the price. The shot was more on the bitter side, something I'm not as fond of, though my girlfriend likes and you can't beat the price. A bit light on the crema and possibly slightly over pulled, but you know what? It was a great drink for a great price. I'll definitely come back when I'm in the neighborhood. read more

Mean cup is appropriately named as their staff is definitely mean. I entered the building and the first thing I see is a sign that reads, "Don't bother the barista, ask at the register." I walked around to the register and would like to say I was greeted by a customer service specialist, but instead I got a gentleman with a stern face who looked up and waited for me to begin speaking. I ordered my iced coffee, paid and walked to the pick up area without so much as a hello, thanks for coming in, thank you... nothing but my total for my purchase. I will say that my drink was made quickly and pushed towards me by yet another unfriendly chap who also did not bother with a thank you. I think from now on I will not bother with anyone there because I'll get my coffee at someplace that wants my business. read more

I love everything they offer, but the people working there are why I go back (ok. and for the coffee). Everyone there has a smile on and is friendly as all hell. They deliver with quality and consistency. There are pre-made sandwhiches and salads (pasta,chix,tuna,wheatberry whatever) from the goodie shop and it's Damn good. Yesterday I was meeting my daughter's behavioral case manager at Mean Cup. Whenever we meet, we usually go there and purchase beverages for each of us. As I walked in, I noticed a sign on their door that said something to the effect of seating being available for paying customers. Fine with me as I had every intention on making a purchase, as did my daughter's manager. We did not do it immediately bc I sat down to discuss my personal circumstances about my father possibly being in dying process and my car accident last week. We were there maybe a minute or slightly over when a staff member walked up to us. He was asking about our order. We were telling him we would be ordering shortly. He walked away mumbling then when he got back to counter he was talking loudly about us, to his coworkers, in front of a shop full of people. My friend walked up bc she was upset and she was just going to order sooner just to satisfy him. Then telling him about why we were not ordering immediately, she had mentioned my Dad dying. He grabs a card and says, here you can call her and tell her your story, as if we were lying. Then I was trying to tell him the same thing. I was saying I sat down to talk to her. My Dad is dying. He yells back at me and says, "My Dad is already dead!" Hands me a card too. My friend put in a complaint about way we were treated. The owner gave a half ass response. I am appalled. My friend has been a paying customer for two years. Why would anyone want to give business to a company who mistreats customers like that? read more

I am going to ignore the fact they forgot my coffee order because it WAS almost 2 when I got there and they were wrapping up for the day. But once I got it, the coffee was pretty good. The Bacon Latte I tried was not that bad either. Different. Something you don't see at Starbucks. And I am a fan of anyone who can stick out to make an impression. It wasn't overwhelming, but if you looked for it, you could taste the meaty salt flavor. read more

Went in there for an iced tea and iced coffee, when I asked for an unsweetened ice tea, the worker acted very patronizing because we didn't know much about the types of drinks we were ordering. Poor service but can't complain about the drinks or croissants, which are excellent. read more

Stopped here for a quick bite on a Saturday morning. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Service is quick as well. Had an ice coffee and a ham & swiss strata, very tasty! My wife had a 'dirty girl' and she had no complaints ;) Nice chill atmosphere and urban modern feel. Being to many places in Philadelphia, this place has the same feel but with parking! This is my favorite place in Lancaster! I've been a long time Mean Cup customer at Central Market and now at their coffee shop on Harrisburg Ave. Now that they have a shop with a parking lot, I'm there weekly or daily! I drink unsweetened iced tea. Most places have iced tea that comes out of a machine. Not only does Mean Cup have it freshly brewed from loose leaf tea but they also change the flavor weekly! I've read the other reviews about the staff and I can assure you that they have my order memorized and always entertain me with their dry humor. One of their staff members, Stellar, found out I was grabbing an iced tea before my wedding and gave it to me on the house as a good luck gift. He is surely missed. My husband orders all kinds of coffee drinks and he's never disappointed. His favorites are a "dirty girl"(he always has to crack a joke while ordering), hot and iced "chai-der", and a hot chocolate with a shot of espresso (no, it's not a mocha!). Mean Cup will always be my #1 coffee shop, personal hangout, and work meeting spot in Lancaster County! read more
