This was a nice gem of a spot for us. The hostess was very friendly and seated us for our reservation immediately. Our server was Zack, he was awesome and attentive as was Frank and the rest of the staff. The drinks were great. We totally enjoyed everything we ate. The Korean Beef Bulgogi and the Tuna Tartare were way better than my expectations. The Cowboy steak was cooked perfectly medium rare and was amazing.The Short Ribs were awesome as well. Tremendous 18 oz cowboy steak! I had been craving steak and luckily was able to consume it when back home a few months ago. Was able to make a reservation relatively easily on a Saturday night. I can see why it's popular, as they have a nice area in front with tvs where you can watch sports at the bar, and then there's a nice dining area adjacent to that for more of a sit down feel. Great service; our waiter was super attentive and answered all our questions, as well as got our orders out quick (a must with kids). My family enjoyed the tuna tartare nachos and calamari as well. You're able to have a nice conversation without it being too overwhelmingly loud, nor too quiet where you feel like everyone can hear what you're saying. Parking is a little tight but we were able to find some in front by the meters (which were expiring by the time we arrived). Would go back again if/when in the area again. read more

Okay, this is my new fave place for dinner! From food, to service, to ambiance, it hits a 5 star on all for me. I ordered the forever braised beef short rib entree. It's short rib over mashed potato's and asparagus with thin onion rings on top. It was spectacular! My new fave meal. I'll be coming back to eat this dish over and over again. They also have tasty dessert. I usually get the s'mores dessert which is huge and tastes so good. The cocktails I think are pricey for how tiny mine was, I got a miss nutley and it was $14.00 but I don't feel like I got much of a drink. So that's my only con of this place. I stuck to wine after that and didn't explore the cocktail menu. The environment is artistic , love the chandeliers and art on the wall. I came here for the first time to try the lunch special and it was fantastic. We were the first customers of the day so we had the waitress' full attention. She made some good recommendations and I enjoyed everything here. The actual food here is the best part. The meals are portioned appropriately and seasoned/cooked according to my taste. I especially enjoyed the chopped salad because it was refreshing and the corn was a sweet touch to the dish. My only complaint was that the filet mignon portion was smaller than the portions posted by other yelp reviewers. Otherwise I really enjoyed all the food including the disco fries and mussels in tomato sauce. Great happy hour and their steak sandwich is to die for!! Meat is sooo good and what they put on it is so different than any other steak sandwich. MEAL has been on my radar for a little bit so I decided to go for a birthday meal with my family (2 adults + toddler). We walked in before 5:30pm and the place was empty. We were promptly seated in the dining area and was informed that they do not have high chairs to offer for my son which was okay as he can sit in the regular chair or on my lap. We ordered some water and then browsed the menu. I inquired if they had a separate Happy Hour menu but was informed by the gentleman that they only offered HH at their bar area. He then offered to speak to the manager to see if we could order HH items while in the dining area as he "couldn't see why not they wouldn't be able to offer it". A few minutes later he came back to ask if we were only ordering HH items or if we were having an actual meal. We said we weren't only ordering HH items so they allowed it. A few seconds later the manager (I assume) walked over and said she was "allowing it this time but this is the last time". We offered to move to the bar area but no kids are allowed there and they only had high tops. She stated once again that "this would be the last exception" and she "can't have a baby running around" and that was when I informed her that we would be leaving as we had started to feel unwelcome after the conversation. I'm not sure if they just have many people trying to take advantage of HH or what but it was really just an odd and uncomfortable interaction. The place was empty (no diners in the dining area) so it wasn't like we were taking a table away from other guests or my toddler was bothering other tables. My SO and I decided to come here for our anniversary dinner. We went to their happy hour at their bar area first which is usually Tuesday-Sunday from 4-6:30. We went at 5 and the bar area was packed so we had to stand. Their happy hour menu includes a $1 raw bar, some drinks, and some small plates. We decided to go with the $1 oysters. They have bluepoint oysters which were so good. I think we will definitely be back for more. We then moved to the dining area for some real food. We didn't order any starters but the server was nice enough to ask us if we wanted some bread/dinner rolls before our food came. I ordered the Colorado lamb with red wine sauce and a side of smashed crispy russet. The wine sauce was a perfect compliment to the lamb and I enjoyed it a lot. The side dish was also really good and definitely was a HUGE portion. It could easily feed 2 people as a side dish. We then ordered a dessert of creme brûlée and man oh man was it amazing. The first bite, I fell in love. It was hands down one of the BEST desserts I have ever had. If there was one thing I would be back for it would be that creme brûlée. The custard base wasn't too sweet and the berries were a nice compliment to it. I wish I could get that creme brûlée to go. I still think about it randomly. My wife had the salmon and told me it tasted bland, it was missing something. I had the New York strip and it blew me out of the water, my taste buds couldn't get enough. The drinks were great as I had the new fashioned and she has the miss nutley. When in for happy hour with a friend on a Thursday. I've been looking forward to coming here- I've only been once before a couple years ago. What drew me in was the $1 oysters as a part of happy hour. I was actually looking forward to sitting at the bar for drinks and apps but the bar was PACKED and full. We were very grateful when one of the servers happily told us they could still serve us happy hour at one of the tables in the dining room. We ordered wine and a yummy lychee martini, oysters & shrimp, arancini and truffle chips. The food was good but the truffle chips were amazing! At first we had no intention of getting dessert...and then we ordered the s'mores dessert. OH. MY. GOD. I'm not much of a chocolate dessert person, but this dessert was PHENOMENAL. The best part was the graham cracker ice cream. It was so amazing and such an experience!!!! All in all, we had a nice time! Everything we had was awesome. The cocktails were very creative, the Aperol negroni was the best I ever had. And the after dinner espresso martini was spot on. The server gave me the choice of dark which I prefer. Our aps were great. We had the MEAL chips which we cleaned up every crumb, and the tuna nachos, r u kidding! Off the hook! I haven't been to MEAL since they relocated, but I really liked their old place, and their $1 oyster happy hour was incredible. I was honestly bracing myself for disappointment. I didn't' know what to expect from the new location. Very often, when restaurants move, things change. Thankfully, all the things I loved about MEAL are even better now. I've heard from friends that the food in the restaurant is great, but it was their oyster happy hour that I was here for. $1 oysters, clams and shrimp! They also have a few hot items on the happy hour menu, which all looked really good as I saw them coming out. I honestly don't know how they can offer freshly shucked oysters of this quality for only $1 each, but I'm very happy they do. Served properly on a bed of ice, with mignonette sauce, cocktail sauce, freshly grated horseradish and lemon. It's just fantastic! The new bar area is bigger and can accommodate more people than in the old space, and the whole restaurant has a better layout and looks wonderful. I can't wait to go back. read more

I kept hearing buzz about this place since it moved locations and am so glad I checked it out. I love when places have happy hours that include small bites and damn do the happy hour foods here SLAP. The Mac and cheese was amazing and probably my favorite of the items I tried. I also enjoyed the Thai chick nuggets which were an uncommon twist but delicious non the less. Both times I've been by the bartenders were super friendly and introduced themselves as though they knew I'd be back (which I will be). (Never been here, didn't know it was reservation worthy) Based on the prices of the steaks and chops, their specialities (Yelp should reassess the 2$$ to 3) Calamari is good. Large portion. Caesar salad was slightly over dressed and the stem of the lettuce had an odd flavor. The lobster ravioli was bland. I was not a fan, I ended up giving it to my partner. The short rib was really good. Recommend. If you are a fan of steaks I would recommend, based solely of reactions of others (I personally do not like steak). The star of the show was s'more meal style. It was phenomenal. I'm a dessert junkie and this satisfied me fully. As I previously stated the value/cost of the restaurant is higher than listed on Yelp. That being said it provides the service of such. Overall, slower than an average place giving you a lot space to enjoy or not enjoy your meal and the setting. My fiancé and I popped into MEAL on a Friday night - the Resturant was pretty packed and we were lucky enough to grab a spot without a reservation. The setup itself is quite nice, they have a bar section, a dining section, and an outdoor section for you to choose from. Oh and did I mention they have parking? We choose the dinning room section. Air conditioning is a wonderful thing, in any case we had the braised short rib and the filet minion. The short rib was so delicious and broke away with a slight touch of my fork. The portions are large so do try to make room for dessert, I didn't get a chance to try anything this time around. Had dinner with a friend, and we selected Meal initially because we liked the look of the cocktail menu posted online. We both enjoy a good craft cocktail or two before dinner. Reservations are encouraged, especially for a Friday or Saturday night. Small parking lot to the side of the building and street parking. We had a small table for two in the front room of the restaurant. The ambiance was slightly upscale and classy, even romantic if you're taking someone on a date. Noise level was a little loud in the small room we were in, but was a good level for conversation later in the night as it emptied out a bit. Cocktails did not disappoint, but the service did. It was a busy Saturday night, but we chatted and lingered for a leisurely meal and even as the dining room cleared out the service didn't get much better. We would have had 1-2 more cocktails had they been more timely in noticing our empty glasses. We had the mussels and chorizo appetizer, which was very good. We even dipped our extra bread in the broth after we finished. My friend had the stroganoff, which she enjoyed. I had the filet mignon with roasted garlic and a horseradish cream sauce (see pic). Cooked to perfection, and very enjoyable. We had a side of roasted Brussels sprouts, which were perfectly prepared--crispy and roasted but not overly cinged or blackened. Coffee with dessert was flavorful, but again service could have been better so we didn't have to practically tackle anyone to get a refill. Dessert (pictured) was a flourless chocolate cake we shared. Small enough for one, ample enough for two if you just wanted something small and sweet to complete your dining experience. MEAL is the perfect brunch spot! I love this place. Every Sunday, they have unlimited mimosas during brunch for $18. Their menu has a wide variety of food options and everything is delicious. However, the French toast deserves a special shout out because it's absolutely phenomenal. The portion is HUGE (almost too huge so expect to take some home), but the taste and presentation are absolutely spot on! Another tip is to ALWAYS start brunch with meal chips as an appetizer. Definitely not a family friendly restaurant. No high chairs, booster seats, do not allow strollers, there are no plastic cups for kids to drink in, and no kids menu.
