A team member in costume would typically be stationed at the front door, handing out menus for patrons to review while waiting in the short line that is situated inside the building. Upon entering, the interior with its decor and decorations is nothing short of striking. The pub doubles as an inn, stepping right off the pages of the Harry Potter books. The movie set, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, was based on the restaurant, which made it feel so authentic. Keep casting one's eyes upward and one can't help but notice the dimmed lighting vibe, beautifully weathered rafters, and cast-iron chandeliers. The ordering process was easy via the Universal app and delivered right to your table. My partner and I decided on their Fish and Chips and slices of Watermelon. Our fish came with tartar sauce (a French addition), of course, and our chips (fries). Lemon wouldn't be usual. Both dishes were crispy, fresh, and genuinely delicious. They were perfectly "on brand" for an authentic, old-school English lunch. The service was extremely quick. The staff were friendly and helpful, even during the busy lunch hour. The appetizer/side of truffle French fries arrived as a generous yet barely warm portion. Each of the 3 desserts we ordered were great: Celebration Cake, Champagne Raspberry Cake, and the Apple Pie. Our table was impressed with the amount of thinly sliced apples stuffed into the tall slice of pie. Yes, the cake slices are still notoriously large and expensive. At $22 per large slice a single portion equals 2 slices of cake that would be priced around $12 each, so your dessert math may make this price point a value if you intend to share. Service was fun and friendly. The biggest qualm on this visit: The hostess outside in the front of the restaurant was passive-aggressive in the most chipper way of being unhelpful upon my arrival. I walked thru a parking lot, I walked through grass and the side of the road with traffic under good conditions. Wait until it's hot and humid to do that walk, or in the rain. However it was hard to flag the servers afterwards when we forgot to ask for ketchup so we just got our own at another table nearby. The minion tots themselves weren't traditional potatoes but yams instead so they weren't a favortie from me. I think i ate one in total and gave the other four to my sister. For $17.99, the melt itself was a little small but it did taste good.

While looking for somewhere to celebrate a special occasion and using the July Passholder discounts, I came across some open lunch times at Be Our Guest,  one place we haven't been since its opening. I was a bit concerned after reading all the negative reviews but quickly realized that you can't always believe everything you read on the internet. Upon checking in with the Hostess, I requested the West Wing as I heard that this dining room is the more secluded part of the castle and most quiet. I had to admit that we found eating with artificial candlelight a bit romantic which created the mood. Dillon our server was extremely helpful and walked us through the menu and made the necessary recommendations. I have to admit,  I cheated when making the reservation and looked at the menu, so I already had a good idea of what I was going to order but always like to hear the other options. I went with the Tuna Tartar which as a meal of itself for the appetizer and for the main course, which is my go-to, the Fillet. I also asked for medium rare as it tends to come back as medium anyway. A last-minute change to the Enchanted Rose for the desert was a welcome surprise. It was delicious and I didn't even have to ask the dishes.  I must say that this was the BEST meal I ever had on Property in all the years of eating at Disney. MK has never been our favorite place to eat, so it was a welcomed surprise. The food was extremely high quality, and the service was bar none. Yes, it can come at a cost, so buyer beware but since this was a special occasion, we decided to splurge a bit. The passholder discount made it a bit easier to swallow no pun intended. But coming from a frequent Disney Cruiser, I found it equal in many ways to the fine dining you would get on a Disney ship.  The Beast did make two appearances while dining, and he does this without Belle. No spoilers but just keeping it real.  Be warned that although he does not stop at each individual table, nor does he allow for a photo opportunities, he does do a quick walk-through waving and then a final bow to all his guests. All in all, I found the "Be our Guest" restaurant a pleasant surprise and would highly recommend to anyone who has hasn't had the experience of dining in the Beast's Castle. Please be sure to take some time to walk around all the dining areas to take in the themed decorations and artwork throughout the castle. The restrooms are also well themed to go along with the overall experience.

While in Magic Kingdom over the weekend, we decided to try to find a last minute reservation for something close to where we were and BOG was the only thing available so we decided to give it a try. The castle itself and dining rooms are a bit "nicer" than what you get at many of the "character dining" restaurants- places that typically have a cafeteria like dining room but meet and greets with the characters. I think if evaluated on that point alone, BOG is better in the sense that it feels more on par with what you're paying, you're just not getting any one on one time with characters. We were seated in the west wing, which was cool because it was a much smaller dining room with dimmed lighting. We enjoyed watching the painting change every time it "thundered". The food was also a bit better than the buffet food, except my partner had a plate of greens accompanying his steak and with the current cyclospora outbreak, it felt risky, so he didn't eat that. The worst part of our meal was our waiter. I'm not sure what's been going on with the waiters lately, but it feels like they always act so put out. We don't ask for anything outside of ordering our meal, and are always polite, so it feels super uncomfortable to have a server act like you're an imposition when you're simply just trying to enjoy an evening out. My husband has a severe dairy allergy but he hates to inconvenience anyone about it, so I asked if there were any dairy free options for the French onion soup, since WDW Is usually extremely accommodating with allergies, often having plant based alternatives for many dishes. The waiter, Wilson, replied that there was, and later when our food gets there, it's a bowl of French onion soup, minus the cheese. This would have been fine had he simply said, we can only do it without cheese. But to confirm there is a plant based alternative only for it to be half the item, was odd. My husband was like, it's okay, it's really good. I then try it, and say to him, it just tastes like normal French onion soup broth, and he's like, yeah, I know. At least he had a good attitude about it. For a meal that comes out to close to $300 for two adults, a toddler and a baby, who didn't order anything, you'd expect slightly better service.

Now when I say favorite, he is the current favorite. That does change around. But I love the ones that interact heavily with the crowd, including the tables they are not waiting on. That shows the dedication to the work and a genuine interest in the performance environment of the restaurant. But don't discount the food. It is darn good. I have had it all. And I love it all. The pot roast is amazing. The salmon is delicious. I would get the onion rings every time if they didn't leave me with the heartburn, I always get from onion rings. But what I really love there is aunt Liz's fried chicken. A huge portion of moist and delicious chicken cooked perfectly with a delightful breading that simply can't be beat. I love it. I get it almost every time along with a shake. I love the chocolate. I love the peanut butter and jelly. I pretty much alternate those two. Desserts are great and I've had them a couple of times but I'm usually too full for dessert unless there's a few people there who wanna split them. They have a nice bar, but not being an avid alcohol drinker I have not partaken. This is on our must stop list when we are at Disney and visiting Hollywood Studios. It should be on yours too.

Both of these sandwiches are unique & incredibly flavorful while they also fully lean into the theming. The burger, which was recommended by my brother, has a tomato pepper chutney, dill aioli, white cheddar, grilled onions, cherry peppers & bacon. To my surprise, It even came out a little pink (I was thrilled to see it wasn't cooked to a tire). There's a nice heat that creeps up once you get a few bites in; the toppings work really well together. The fried chicken sandwich has a blood orange sauce, pickles & house slaw. While it was a bit more "normal" compared to the burger, the flavors were anything but. I'd order both of these again without a doubt.
