Sea sullen sandwich (open faced here) with ancient grains on side
    Nicola M.

We stopped in for lunch. Order from the QR code with quick service for food to the table. We had the Berserkers meatballs which were very tasty with roasted root vegetable mash. My friend had the Sullen sea sandwich which was just ok. The ancient grains were really hard and not edible. They have freestyle machines for your soda choice.

Mead Hall in the Isle of Berk leans fully into its How to Train Your Dragon fantasy, a rowdy Viking mess hall where characters wander through like they own the place and will interact with guests. The tables are locked down with QR codes so you order everything through the Universal app. It's a strange mix of theme‑park chaos and modern efficiency, but it works. We went for the sausage links and the meatballs. Straightforward, hearty plates that won't change your life but absolutely hit the spot. Nothing flashy, nothing trying too hard, just good, tasty food served in a space that feels alive and loud and a little ridiculous in the best way.

Mobile app only ordering, might be a bit interesting to handle. Food was good but prices are resort, so prepare for some sticker shock. Ambiance was strong, as befitting a theme park.

As I mentioned in previous reviews we were very impressed with the food at Epic Universe, but of all the lands the food at How to Train your Dragon really stands out. Mead Hall is the main dining hall in the land and it really takes you back to the Viking era, with the lighting in the hall feeling like it's candle light. For the main meal we ordered their Hooligan's sausage links. The smoked sausage were very tasty and texture had the right snap. The sides included herb garlic miniature potatoes and roasted veggie. For dessert my daughter was dying to try the Stormfly's Catch of the day which is a chocolate mousse fish on top of cereal crumble. The mousse is encased in an orange sweet shell and the mousse was delicious while the crumble had fruity pebbles flavor. The whole family enjoyed the food and ambience of the Mead Hall!

This place is for those who want to be a Viking for the day! An amazing experience and ambiance! We came in with a large group of 13 and were seated pretty quickly after being asked if we could split the group, which we didn't mind at all. We mobile ordered on the app and our food came out quickly. We tried many dishes on the menu, and everything was super delicious and for a reasonable price. I had to try the mead, which was so yummy and fun that they went with a boysenberry and black currant mead instead of the traditional type. After being outside in the cold, some sausage links and mead really hit the spot. If you really love the How to Train Your Dragon universe, this is THE spot to eat! It's more than just theme park food, it's an experience that truly immerses you in the world of Berk. So happy that we chose to eat here!

Mead hall is the great dining hall at the back of Isle of Berk inside Epic Universe. It's themed to a grand dining hall, where vikings would gather and celebrate. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Universal always does their theming so well. It really feels like I've stepped into the past when walking in. This establishment, like many of the other restaurants within Epic Universe, has an option for mobile ordering. You just order your food on the Universal app and scan the QR code on your table. I wanted to eat like a Viking so I went with something meaty. I found the turkey wings a unique dish, especially for theme park food. Our server brought it to us within about 10 mins. These wings are gigantic! I was expecting it to be bigger than chicken wings but wow! They were almost the size of my forearm. The wings, along with the barbeque sauce were excellent. The skin was a little crispy and the wings were not dry. The dish came with a baked potato, onions, and carrots. These were just as good as the wings. I'll warn you, you might get your hands dirty eating these, but that's okay. We're vikings here! I will definitely be back for the yaknog!

Like many of the sit down eateries you will see in EPIC this one is done so so well. It was part of Berk Universe and was so so well done. So much detail went into every part of this restaurant that I felt immersed in the land. We opted to sit in the back where there were two high back chairs and a bench and it was so cool. For the food I ordered the turkey wings and OMG so good! They had a bbq glaze that was just enough and so tasty. I tore my wings up! My sons had the salmon and the ohter had a kids burger and kids mac and cheese bites and nothing was left on their plates. It wasn't freezing in here either as some of the restaurants are themed that way in Dark Universe. The staff was prompt and friendly. Really nothing bad to say about this place!

The theming of this dining hall is spot on. It makes you feel like Vikings living in Berk gathering for a meal. We ordered the Thawfest Plater & Yaknog drink. It's too much food for the 2 of us. It would've been perfect for 3 people. Taste wise, it's standard, nothing bad. Wish the sausage has mozzarella inside. The drumstick tastes better when dip in the bbq sauce. The pesto on the salmon def makes it taste better. You can either mobile order and say you're here, or get a table then order from the QR code. They'll bring the food to your table. As a fan of How To Train Your Dragon, I'm glad I went eat here.

Food was surprisingly good. Walk over to the bar and they have cups for water. Handled a gluten free allergy with no issue. Setting was awesome.

If you're a How to Train Your Dragon fan, you're going to love the Mead Hall at Epic Universe. The décor is incredibly detailed--every corner truly feels like you've stepped into the Viking world of Berk. We started with the Nordic Harvest Salad, which was a pleasant surprise. The portion was big, the flavors were fresh and tasty, and the price felt very reasonable for a theme park. For our main dish, we shared the Thawfest Platter, and it was absolutely delicious. It comes with wild berry BBQ-glazed chicken drumsticks, grilled salmon, sausage links, roasted carrots, Cipollini onions, Nordic fries, and a variety of dipping sauces. Everything was well-seasoned, cooked perfectly, and the mix of flavors made it really fun to share. Another perk: no reservation needed. We walked in, picked a table we liked, scanned the QR code to order, paid, and the food was brought right to us. Super convenient and stress-free. Overall, the Mead Hall is a must-visit--great theming, hearty food, and a smooth, modern dining experience. If you love How to Train Your Dragon, this place will make you feel right at home in Berk.

The ambience was really good. Very indicative of how to train your Dragon aesthetic. The food was incredible. We had salmon with vegetables and it was very well prepared. This is a great option for a full meal when in epic universe. The service is really fast and the staff are very kind and quick.

Value for money: 5 Cleanliness: 5 Food Quality: 4 Customer Service: 5 (friendly staff) Look and Feel (Ambiance): 5 Thank you, Come Again?: 5 Mead Hall at Epic Universe is a feast for the senses--and not just because of the food. Themed after "How to Train Your Dragon" movie, the restaurant fully immerses you in the Viking world of Berk, with dramatic decor and a lively atmosphere that makes you feel like you've stepped into the movie. We ordered the Turkey Wing Platter, which came with a full-sized potato, roasted carrots, and onion. The turkey wing was a bit overcooked, but still had decent flavor and paired well with the hearty sides. We also tried the Sausage Platter, which came with the same accompaniments. Both dishes were surprisingly tasty--better than I expected for a theme park meal. The portions were generous, and the rustic presentation added to the immersive experience. It's clear that the designers put a lot of thought into making the space feel authentic and fun. Overall, Mead Hall is a great stop if you're exploring Epic Universe and want a meal that matches the magic of the surroundings. I'd come back to try more dishes and soak in the atmosphere again.

I was apprehensive about food options when going to Epic because I was traveling with kids, some of which are picky eaters. I did not think we'd end up here after looking at the menu but the kids wanted to try it. Got seated very quickly and placed our order through the app. The kids decided to share the Thawfest platter and I was so proud of them for trying different things!! It has chicken drumsticks, salmon, sausage links, carrots, Nordic fries and onions plus sauces. Neither kids wanted the onions but that was ok. Nobody was a fan of the Nordic fries because the seasoning tasted like maybe dill pickles?? If that's your thing you will love them. But they enjoyed all the meats and ate until they were full. Several adults could have easily shared this. I got the Berserkers meatballs wanting them to be like Ikeas in the best way and they were!! We also tried the Toothless plasma blast drink and the Stormflys Catch of the day dessert, both were pretty good. Worth checking out this place!! Loved the decor

When I arrived with some of my dinner guests, we still had a wait before we were escorted to a private room. We encountered an issue with one of the servers and I had to request to speak with a manager. Rachel came over and we spoke about the unfortunate situation we were having. Rachel apologized and worked to get us someone else to take care of us. After that, we settled in and enjoyed the rest of our dinner. I ordered the Beef Empanadas, the Tequila Sunburn Glazed Salmon (comes with Mashed Sweet Potato and Green Beans) and a Dragon Fruit Margarita. The Dragon Fruit Margarita was delicious. I didn't want to get full before receiving my food so I took sips while we waited. It was hard not drinking it all too quickly. It was good. It was served in a glass with a sugar coated rim and lime wedge. The Beef Empanadas are an all-time favorite and never disappoints. I couldn't eat all my food so I packaged the rest to go. I was presented with a glass of ice cream topped with whipped cream and cherries. A candle perfectly placed in the ice cream was lit and waiting for me to make a birthday wish and blow out the flame. The night was not over yet. After dinner, we went outside and sat to listen to the live steel pan music. It was a wonderful way to end the evening. As the cool air embraced us so did the melodic tunes of the steel pan music. Thank you Rachel for salvaging the evening and remedying our unfortunate experience with one of the service staff. Your response and actions saved the evening and help earned this four star rating.

There is even a large fishbowl at one of the host stands with a Cowfish swimming about a giant hamburger. The menu offers so many choices, I found it hard to decide. Ultimately, I landed on the All American Bacon Double Cheeseburgooshi - a combination of a bacon double cheeseburger in sushi form. Hubby got a Bento Box that included a slider, sushi roll, edamame and more. I was a little worried that I wouldn't like my dish. It seemed a bit out there but once it arrived, I was beyond pleasantly surprised and loved every bite! Hubby also loved his bento box and we left quite full. They also offer a myriad of unique and fun drinks including one in a fish shaped glass with boba pearls and a Bloody Mary with, basically, a whole meal on top! First off, the concept alone is wild. Instead of choosing between sushi or burgers, you get both. And somehow it actually works. The "Burgushi" idea sounds like it shouldn't... but it does. The bento box is probably the move if you can't decide. It gives you a little bit of everything and is perfect after a long park day when you're starving but also indecisive. We did this through the Ride and Dine package, which made it super convenient. Having a reserved meal time built into a Universal day just hits differently. It's a nice break from the chaos of the parks, and CityWalk has such a fun energy at night. The value feels worth it when you factor in the portion sizes and the overall experience. Food wise, the burgers are solid, juicy, and definitely not an afterthought, and the sushi is surprisingly fresh for a theme park spot. The menu is huge and creative, with everything from classic rolls to over the top fusion options, plus shakes and drinks if you're feeling it. The vibe is very "Universal." Colorful, slightly over the top, and a little loud, but it works. Think quirky décor, bright lights, and a mix of tourists, families, and people decompressing after a park day. Overall, not necessarily a fine dining sushi spot, but that's not what you come here for. You come for the experience, the variety, and the fact that you can eat a burger and sushi in the same bite if you really want to. Perfect for a fun Universal night! Was great for our needs to eat some dinner before hitting the park to throw beads!

Found this place by chance after driving away from another restaurant that we scoped out that looked pretty empty - there were a lot of cars in the parking lot here so we pulled in, having no idea what this place was all about. First of all - if you are a vegetarian or a vegan, or even an ovo-lacto, you have to pay the full price of a meat-eater, because people will cheat and proclaim that they are vegans and probably stuff their face full of beef, so I had to pay the same price as my husband, a carnivore. You are seated a table with a grill and a personal hot-pot, dependent on whatever broth you choose. The attendant will turn on all of the hot pots and grill, so you don't need to mess with that; he/she will put a piece of foil on your grill and drop a piece of butter on it so you can cook and fry your meats or veggies but one of the annoying things I've found was the feeling we got that they didn't want us eating more - they would come by infrequently and we would have to flag them down to replace our grilling foil, and they did so begrudgingly, with little interaction. The selections were very, very generous: organ meats including guts, tongue, tripe, beef aorta, intestines and exotic things like duck feet, frog legs; different cuts of meat, loads of veggies and fungi and tofu for someone like myself, and dessert like ice cream in individual containers and Oreo cookies, which I found a bit odd.
