I called Friday about a clogged toilette and was told they could have someone at my home from 1-3…read moreor 1-4PM (not sure) on Monday. I called later to ask them to also provide an estimate on a tankless water heater and water softener. He said they would do both at the same appointment. I got a call around 1:30 and was informed they were on route. Brad showed up soon after and did an A+ job. He had the clog removed in 10 minutes and that included giving me advice on ways to prevent it and possible causes. Big help. He looked at the water heater next, taking pictures and said he would get me back an estimate soon. I trust him. Solid guy. That's worth a lot right there. I will update when they follow through with the estimate. -- UPDATE [Feb 2018]: They gave me an estimate that beat another company by $600 and matched another one. They also gave me the option of buying my own heater (though they would not guarantee the heater itself if I did, and could not get parts to fix it as quickly if it had issues). He called my water company and verified water hardness and called the maker of both heaters (his and the one I was considering) and verified the water hardness was acceptable without a water softener. I was very impressed and went with their company because of it. Two guys showed up and did an excellent job. They were so friendly and professional was I was shocked and made them dinner as a thank you when the wrong heater was delivered to them and required them to be there late. The extra labor did not increase the price. One piece was not installed, a heat sheath that warms up if the temperature in the garage drops below freezing. They mentioned this and said they will be back to finish it. I was happy with the work except for the gas line being installed in a spot in the garage where it could be hit by the car or lawnmower if backed in poorly. I told the lead guy this the next day but he was not concerned and did not offer to address it even after I brought it up three times. I was disappointed by that but did not demand he address it. There were a few other small issues like a door being left off the hinges and water and exhaust pipes not being removed from a closet after having been told they would be, but the guys were there late due to the wrong heater being delivered so didn't make an issue of it. I had two friends who are professional contractors look at the work and both were fully satisfied with it and said it was excellent. My impression is that they are friendly and trustworthy people. UPDATE: It has now been three months and they have not come back to complete the work. Still waiting in the heated sheath around the exposed tubing in the garage. Lowered the rating by one star.

I won't call Bloomington Rotorooter again. I had them come to clean out our main drain line out to…read morethe city sewer under the street in front of the house. They showed up on time and seemed very professional. We have an older house with a combination of PVC, cast iron and clay pipe for the final run to the main sewer line. So like most everyone in our area we have root infiltration and I get it cleaned out every few years. The problems that followed - first red flag, they were done in 35 minutes. Very fast. Asked for the video of the cleaned pipe I always get afterwards and they didn't bother to run a camera through. It's usually a 2 minute video from where it enters the sewer to the access port in my garage. That would be extra and they were already paid up and ready to leave. They assured me they'd encountered lots of roots but the motorized auger cut through them ($400). Fast Forward seven days (2 days after heavy rains began resulting in 6+ inches over a couple days. My garage floor is flooded. The utility sink is overflowing with water (from our continually running sump pump) and the line to the sewer is obviously completely blocked. We are an older couple and never put anything "bad" down the toilet that could clog it. No kids that might find it fun to flush the cat or anything like that. Commercial Service was called and they came out after hours that night. Two hours to unclog the line. It was completely blocked with roots ($2,400). They suggested I have the hydro-jet unit available through Commercial Service out to use that to cut roots that invariably remain anchored to the inside of the line (another $1,500). Bottom line, don't waste your time and money having Rotorooter clean a main drain line. They do a half- ass job. Thanks to Commercial Service, line is all clear now and video to document.
