I've needed an electrician for several issues for quit some time but knew of no one who could recommend some names. I've relied on Yelp reviews in the past and have had good results. After reading the positive comments, I called Ty. He answered the phone and asked some basic questions and an appointment time was arranged for the weekend. He provided his cost for the service call, which also included his labor (very reasonable). Every comment I read proved true when I met him. He was punctual, professional, experienced and, has a great sense of humor. He has a great assistant who is also polite, friendly (and great with dogs!). The minor problem I thought I had turned out to be a little more complicated, but Ty was persistent and determined to find the problem, correct it and didn't leave until he was sure everything was resolved. I was so pleased with his knowledge and work ethic that I'm having him come back to do some more extensive work to correct issues not done correctly when the kitchen was remodeled. I'm also having him do some ceiling fan and lighting updates. Call him if you want someone you can trust to do the job right. I called and left a message with Mr. McWilliams after having my dryer worked on for 2 days by a Samsung dryer technician who couldn't find anything wrong with my dryer which would not heat. Bought a new dryer and it would not heat either leading us to suspect an electrical problem. I was desperate and asked him about the possibility of same day service and he not only returned my call, he followed up on his his way home from a job in Bellaire at the end of the day to see if I was able to have my dryer electrical issue repaired and said if I was still not able to have it repaired then he would stop by on his way home in about 30 minutes. He did exactly that and had the problem solved in less than 5 minutes, never made us feel rushed or like we were a bother. Instead, he thanked us for calling on him and welcomed us to Pearland. Past experiences had not been very positive for various reasons. I found McWilliams Electric & contacted TY. We quickly set up a diagnostic rvw appt. TY was very knowledgeable, attentive & informative. Met some of his crew on the 1st day of service - very friendly, knowledgeable... I got their number from a friend and let me say this... I am glad I did. The owner Ty is going to give it to you straight, no hidden fees, and no games. He is not trying to charge you an arm and a leg for a job. He is going to give you a fair price. His associate Brian was pleasant, educated, and took the time to explain everything to me. It was refreshing to have someone step inside my place and know exactly what he was doing. It is getting all too common to have to call several people to come by just to get a single job done these days, but with Ty and Brian that won't be your problem. Charlet from McWilliams Electric did a fantastic job with my repairs. Prior to actually coming to my home, they had a good idea of what the issue might be and had me send photographs of the circuit box in question. When Charlet came to my home for the repair, she was prepared with the necessary breaker in hand. The repair was quick and efficient. She also helped with my outdoor fireplace, spending time patiently cleaning parts so that it would work more easily. She billed me less than the quoted service fee and the price of the circuit breaker. She did not even charge me for the work on the fireplace. Needless to say, I gave her a generous tip. I had an electrical problem that was extremely difficult to detect. Half of my home had power, and half was without. We'd been experiencing flickering lights which I had traced to burned breakers in our main panel. I replaced the bad breakers, but found that the problem recurred (twice). After a visit from another electrician who clearly did not understand the issue, I contacted McWilliams Electric to come give me a second opinion. Ty stopped by the same afternooon to check things out... he obviously knew his stuff, and I felt was totally straight with me about possible causes and options. We ultimately decided to replace the main breaker panel, and Ty and his crew were on site and completed the job the very next day. The work was completed very professionally, and at a fair price. I met Mr McWilliams for a consultation about changing the inbound power lines on a house we were considering buying. He was very helpful and informative. We bought the house and had a company renovate the kitchen. The kitchen contractor left the wiring in the kitchen in a complete shambles. I was very nervous about it not being safe. I called Ty. He answered some question over the phone to make sure it was safe and scheduled to come over the next day. He showed up and dug right in. It wasn't long before he had found the issue left behind by the contractor and got busy taking it all apart and started putting it back together correctly. We couldn't be more pleased with Ty! We are in the process of selling our home and received an amendment less than 24 hours before the option period was over with a list of repair items. This was a Saturday night. We couldn't have been more frustrated with having to respond to fixing repairs without having a clue as to what they would cost. A quick google search brought me to Mcwilliams and i called the yelp number and left a message. To my surprise, i was called back in minutes (this was 7PM on a Saturday). My wife and I had just moved into our new home in Friendswood. After my wife had washed the first load of clothes our dryer wasn't getting any electricity. Ty McWilliams is an upfront and honest gentleman. I contacted him during Hurricane Harvey when 7 circuit breakers on the right side of the electrical panel all short circuited. He saw the photo and noticed water on the right side of the panel suggesting rainwater leak during the storm. He was willing to drive through the rain that Saturday to get if fixed but it was not an emergency as our AC, cable, and internet was still on. He recommended we contact our builder who contacted their electrical subcontractor who found that the top cap to the electrical box was never screwed in and never had silicone water sealed around it which allowed for driving rains to go down that top of the electrical box and short circuit 7 of our circuit breakers. He returned my call promptly and we discussed my situation and informed me that he would not be able to do the job at this time. This is where Mr. Ty earned 5 Stars...he spent about 15 minutes talking with me about the process and the questions I needed to ask when getting other quotes and explained the process to me so I wouldn't get ripped off. I highly recommend McWilliams Electric. I had what I thought was a bad outlet but was a bad breaker instead. When I did some research, I found that all of my breakers (Zinsco) had a reputation for causing fires. I got two different companies to quote replacing the breaker box. When I compared the estimated cost online to the two quotes, McWilliams was in line with the estimate while the second company was twice the price. The owner, Ty, was very professional and courteous when he came to inspect the existing panel and explained what would be required to meet my needs as well as meet the electrical code. I hired McWilliams Electric to install a standalone generator. Ty McWilliams and his crew were very professional. And they were always willing to answer all my questions. When they worked they were always neat and they left the place very clean. I am a neat freak so I was very happy about that. Most important the generator was properly installed. They have given us peace of mind because they spent a lot of time testing the Generac Standalone generator. I looked into a couple large name companies but I felt that McWilliams Electric gave more value to my purchase. A larger company would not have given such TLC. Ty McWilliams is a true professional. We moved into a 40 year old house, and as expected, there were several updates and issues needing to be resolved. Ty took care of all the updates needed; as well as, relocated several wires/outlets/switches when we were remodeling. My wife and I attempted to install a new chandelier lighting fixture in our dining room, to no avail. Once installed, every time we flipped the switch, the breaker tripped.
