Unfortunately, we had a very bad experience with McSwain flooring and will never have them or an Armstrong floor in our house again. Be forewarned, neither company will stand behind their flooring and the "lifetime warranty" they sell you is meaningless. We purchased an Armstrong vinyl plank floor (A6899 Luxe Plank) from them for our kitchen. It was supposed to be their top-of-the-line floor and was sold with a lifetime warranty. We recently started a remodel of the kitchen with plans to keep the flooring in place. However, during construction, our contractor noticed that the vinyl planks were separating at the joints. We called McSwain, who in turn sent someone to the house (Paul I believe) and he was extremely rude and condescending. He basically said our issue was "an environmental" issue and they would not honor the warranty claim. With this news we opened a claim with Armstrong in the hopes that they would stand behind their product. Fast forward 5 months later and today they rejected the claim stating, " issue you are having with your flooring is not a warranted issue". No other information provided. Our kitchen is no different from any other kitchen, so their excuse of it being an "environmental" issue does not hold water. Especially given that they can't/won't explain what that even means. Do not use this location! We had a great experience with the Field's Ertel location so when we moved to Anderson we decided to use McSwains to install a new wood floor in one room. They assured us this would match the rest of the flooring - it did not. When questioned they blew me off. read more

Not a good customer service experience. It started out okay. I only needed carpeting in one room and the sales person directed me to some remnants to save money. After the order was completed, he said I would hear from someone in a couple of days for scheduling the installation. I did not hear from anyone. I gave it a few more days and still nothing. I called him and he assured me the scheduling department was just busy and I should hear from them soon. This cycle repeated a couple more times. Finally after three weeks, I called Corporate. They informed me that the reason no one had called me yet to schedule my installation was because the sales person never submitted the order for processing. Fortunately at that point Corporate took over and scheduled me right away, even bumping it up a little bit because I had already been waiting so long. After that things went smoothly. Unsurprisingly, I never heard from the sales rep again. Human error happens to us all but I feel he could have at least acknowledged the error and apologized. I would not recommend doing business at this location. P.S. If you read all the negative reviews here, I assure you this "sales person" we are all alluding to is the same guy. He is the essentially the only one at that location. And I also got the distinct impression that the reason he did not take my business or my concerns seriously is because I am a woman. Very condescending in his speech toward me. I noticed that most of the other negative reviews here are by women as well. You have been warned. read more

Absolutely horrible customer service from the very beginning. We had so many warnings to back out and didn't, so learn from our mistake. First was an estimate appointment that the salesman "completely forgot about", next was never receiving an estimate after the salesman lost our number and "figured I'd call soon". After all of that, the installers came and installed the incorrect size carpet, completely ruining our hardwood. My credit card was also charged for the remaining balance without my permission. Multiple days passed of us contacting customer service many, many times and never getting a call back. It finally took a claim with the Better Business Bureau and threatening a lawsuit to get our money back. Go anywhere but here! read more

Horrible and completely unprofessional: 1) Missed the installation scheduled timing by weeks 2) Installation team crammed the furniture in one bedroom in the bathroom to install the new carpet - they jolted the toilet line causing a leak in the ceiling - I was lucky I was home to catch it within 15 minutes. When I confronted them they first tried to say it wasn't them, complete idiots. 3) They installed carpet in our basement with a manufacturing defect. They tried to hide it from by putting a piece of furniture on the defect. When I found it a few days later and called the installation manager furious he told me that maybe they called him and told him that day but he was really busy and told them to keep installing. 4) The cost of my order was significant and they were horrible in all aspects. I recommend anybody to think twice before they pay for installation with Mcswain, just horrible! read more

Had major problems with a bad batch of Armstrong 5" plank hardwood. Had it replaced 3 times until we decided it was time to switch to the 3 1/2' plank( a good decision). McSwain's was behind us 100%. I truly believe if we had hired an independent installer, we would have been stuck with the first install with an excuse like" well, sometimes you just get bad wood" or something as lame. McSwains got Armstrong involved and the problem got resolved. All the staff that we had contact with through this ordeal were very polite and professional. We have used McSwain in the past and will continue to use in the future because I know for a fact they will have your back. read more

Stay away. Installed carpet on stairs in my home. Installer knew right away carpet was to thin to look good and said so. I was on site, so stopped the install prior to cutting and called sales manager. Manager said there was no info on carpet to say that an install would not go well, and with the 100% satisfaction guarantee, there was nothing to lose anyway. So I said, "go ahead and try." Well, carpet looks like crap. McSwain dragging feet on replacement. We are now 2 mos out. Still haven't even been able to order replacement carpet, let alone schedule an install. So much for satisfaction. My advice is to shop elsewhere. read more

This was my first and LAST experience with McSwain Carpets. I was completely unprepared for a ramshackle van from the 80's to pull into my driveway (I was clearly expecting a professional installation vehicle as McSwain claims to be the "premiere" carpet installers). I was completely unprepared to have to actually go outside in freezing weather to validate that they had brought the right carpet making for an exceptionally weird/awkward/uncomfortable experience where I really wish my husband had been home to deal with it. The carpet and installers also stank of very strong smoke (the installers would actually go sit in the van and smoke during breaks) so now my brand new carpet and entire house smells terrible but as it's winter I can't really open windows to air it out. What a dreadful experience all around. read more

I had dining room and living room carpet installed. Each room had two pieces of carpet that had to be joined. During the installation it became apparent that in each room the two carpet pieces did not match. The difference was obvious and glaring, The installer called his supervisor who insisted that they continue the installation and promised to resolve the matter promptly. That was more than three months ago. The carpet has been inspected and photographed three times but nothing has been done. Now the McSwain representative says they can do nothing until the California Mill decides who is responsible. Lousy customer service. read more

Really bummed by their customer service. I had floors picked out, had someone come out and measure. He never sent me the estimate. I called the store and left my email and phone and told them I never got an estimate. Never heard anything. They don't want my business? Went to Carpetland, instead. read more

We had high hopes for McSwain for replacing stair and hallway carpet with laminate since we had used them many years ago. From the start, many mistakes were made in ordering our product. The salesperson could never seem to remember what we were ordering! On installation day, we came home to the wrong product on our floors. When we contacted our salesperson, he was very nice, but basically blamed the wrong flooring on us. He simply wrote down the wrong flooring name! He said it was obviously confusion, but it was HIS confusion!! We took out only one sample, said that was the one we wanted, and he wrote down the wrong name. So, then we had to have the right stuff re-ordered (supposedly in stock, according to salesperson---but it wasn't), and get back on the installer's schedule. That took many weeks, and we wanted it done in a certain time frame. The rip-out and re-installation should have taken no more than two days, but after three days, we still have an unattached step, lack of molding on one part, and a corner that will not hold up as it isn't glued together. According to the installers, it's our problem, and we have to find someone to come out and finish the job! Unacceptable! The floor looks nice, but we are pretty disgusted with the sales person and his many errors, and the attitude of the installers. Will never use McSwain again! read more

McSwain installed both our Master shower and guest tub/shower in our new home. We lived in our home less than 2 months before the Master shower started leaking. Mark the installation manager came out and said that they would need to put a membrane over the tile and then retile over it and then it would no longer wait. We couldn't use the shower for a week prior to them putting the membrane down for it to dry out. A week later they come out and put the membrane down, but determined they had the wrong tile (straight lay when it should have been brick). They'd have to re-order. They order it again to fix it while we were on vacation and had to make arrangements for a neighbor to be there to let them in. Supposedly the tile came in cracked and couldn't be used. Then they said that the tile is discontinued and they can't get any more. This is nearly 3 weeks that we've been without our shower in our brand new home. Then they tell us to go to Daltile to pick out a new tile and Daltile tells us that they used a tile on the floor that is only to be used on walls, hence why it was leaking. No one from McSwain even told us that they were using a different tile or that the original tile was a wall only tile. Daltile has nothing in stock to meet our needs, but they determine they can take some of the straight lay tile and make a brick patern with it to make it work since we've been without our shower for so long. While using our guest bathroom since we couldn't use the Master shower, the guest bathroom also starting leaking into our basement. It was determined that the grout wasn't done correctly at the bottom. Mark from McSwain said they didn't believe it was their issue, so the builder ended up fixing that today. We will see if it no longer leaks now. They were supposed to be out today (4th time out to fix the shower) at 9AM. I had made arrangements for the builder to be there. They never show up and the builder can't get ahold of anyone at McSwain. I end up calling and speaking to Kevin, Mark's supervisor, and he says he will get to the bottom of it. I get a message back from him that the installer is on his way and will be there in 30 minutes. Only problem is that no one is available to be at the house because it was scheduled for 9AM. I have guests coming from out of town to stay this weekend and still don't know when or if we will have 2 showers available. Every time I call Mark from McSwain it goes to voicemail and he won't answer. He was the one who told me the installer would be there at 9AM this morning, so I don't trust him any more. I just want my shower fixed. Why does it have to be such a nightmare. Will NEVER EVER use McSwain for anything ever again. read more

Extremely dissatisfied with this company and location. A simple carpet install which was told was going to be a one day complete job turned into two work days spread over 2 weeks. I gave as much understanding as I could to accommodate schedules, etc. After the second work day, a complete closet was left incomplete. During the estimate of this job, we were told and agreed upon the removal of old carpet from and by McSwain. After confronting the contracted carpet installers, they simply said that it wasn't in the estimate and they would not complete that part of the job. After consulting with our McSwain contact for the job, he said he would get someone (different than the original installers) to come over and remove the carpet, AS ORIGINALLY AGREED UPON. That conversation occurred 2 months ago. I have attempted to make contact with no success. I don't enjoy writing bad reviews, I enjoy giving people credit; but only where credit is due. McSwain carpet deserves no credit for the poor job they have done. read more
