Took my 3 year old granddaughter in for shoes On March 26, 2026 Honestly she was not as cooperative as we would have liked but neither was Mark. in fact he was plain rude. At one point he even grabbed a doll away from my granddaughter and threw it across the room, she had picked up from a chair. That was totally uncalled for and quite surprised that he would actually do that. It was a mistake to have taken my granddaughter there. I will never recommend this store to anyone and for all of you that have good reviews, stop and think that Mark's bad behavior was towards a 3 year old. His agitation in dealing with a toddler makes me think maybe it's time to for him to retire. read more

I took a pair of sandals to Mark and when I picked the sandals up, he added $5.00 to the bill because he said that he had to glue one pair of the insole pad down. The problem was the pad was not glued down it was still all the way loose and it was not loose when I dropped the sandal off otherwise, he would of gave me a different price when I dropped the sandals off. I did not mind paying the $5.00 if the in-insole pad was glued down. I told Mark that it's not glued down, and I asked him to look because it was still loose and coming off, I thought he would fix it. Mark yelled at me and said, "if you don't like my work then you can leave my store and don't come back," as he was ordering me to leave the store. Mark did not need to yell, when you go there do not question him in anyway, just agree. read more

I got my first pair of shoes at McNally's when I was a kid (37 years ago). When my son needed his first pair we took him there as well. My daughter will get her first pair there next month. I actually went to preschool with the owner's son but have long since moved away. I'm so glad that there is still a small, family owned shoe store like McNally's that provides exceptional customer service. I hope the rocking horse is still there next month! read more

A dying breed. I was so happy to have found this store. When I first entered the store and met Mark (the owner) and saw all of his hand written notes strewn everywhere, and very few shoes, I thought "Well, this is going to turn out to be a wasted trip." Boy, was I wrong. Here is a man that knows shoes.....and as it turns out, feet too! I needed a very specific shoe that would fit over an orthopedic brace, with certain closures. After taking notes on an index card with my info and needs Mark got to work. I must have tried on a dozen pairs of 4 different manufacturers in a myriad of sizes before this Cinderella was fitted with the magic slipper. I thought I was going to have to buy 2 pairs of the same shoe in order to fit the foot with an AFO and then the good foot was a size smaller. Didn't happen. He put the decades old wooden shoe stretchers in and then a beautiful old cast iron tool that stretched the tight spot over the pinky toe and I had a perfect fit. I bought two pairs and am taking both the grandsons back tomorrow to buy their school shoes. My husband said he thinks he'll get a pair too. He spent 45 minutes with me as a customer and insured I was happy. And, I priced the same shoes online when I got home. I was charged the same as the big stores where I would not have gotten the personal service. Please keep stores like this in business. Stop sending your money in faceless stores where they know or care what your name is. Get your info on your own index card to be strewn on the floor. You'll be glad you did. UPDATE: Went back the following morning with hubby and grandsons in tow. One happy customer turned into 5 sales. This store is like the kind we'll be "remember when" if we don't keep it in business. read more

It was like stepping back into a time that I didn't exist. Notes everywhere, just different than what I expected. I couldn't have made the best decision based on a recommendation in Facebook group. I needed a zipper repair on a pair of tall knee high sandals. They were able to repair the zipper. The price was so reasonable as I was expecting it to cost a lot more. He even gave me the heads up that it was a possibility of the price being higher due to the nature of the zipper and the length. I highly recommend. I even got a couple tomato trees for free. My wife, sister and I just returned home to Essex County, Ontario, from a SECOND successful trip to this hidden gem in Allen Park, MI. It's an hour drive, but if you or yours have ANY type of foot problem and can't get shoes, THIS IS WHERE TO FIND THEM. Period. Mark Bailey is a secret from the past in that he'll analyze your feet, literally, and then offers suggestions. If your need isn't in the store, he'll order it with no obligation to buy, and then custom fit with inserts, or use some machines I haven't seen in YEARS in a shoe store to make it work. I can't properly describe the new customer experience because I was probably about a year old. Of course Mark was able to remind me because he has a card file showing my first pair and every pair since, along with cards for my whole family (going back more than 40 years) who he remembers every time I come in. My next-door neighbor suggested this store several times. I went there today to get my one-year old daughter her first pair of walking shoes. Mark was very nice and went through all the orthotics with me. I found a pair of Powerstep Pulse and I love them. My sister had also gone in and bought a pair of Powerstep too. Mark also relaced my tennis shoes and now they fit so much better! read more
