Return trip because of the positive first experience I had. Even though I didn't make a purchase, the staff was all very friendly and accommodating, providing options for different shoes based on my feedback. When I returned today, the employees remembered me from my first visit, and again continued with the patience displayed initially. I received the same treatment, with the employee I worked with the second time also providing me options for comparison until I felt comfortable with my purchase decision. After increasing my running mileage I started to get pretty bad knee pain, so I finally made an appointment (due to COVID) to get fitted properly. They were so awesome, letting me try on several different pairs to compare the fit, and sizing me. Surprisingly (or probably not due to the knee issues) I have been wearing a whole size smaller than I should have been. I've logged probably close to 100 miles in my new shoes with zero aches. My wife and I stopped into Total Runner last Saturday, March 26. After buying running shoes at big box sporting goods stores for the last 10 years I decided that it was time to get properly fitted and spend a few bucks more for a quality running shoe. We were immediately greeted by Audrey and I shared my shoe needs with her. She was very patient and spent the next 20 minutes with me as she measured my feet and brought out several different brands of running shoes until I had the perfect pair. It was a busy Saturday morning but not once did she rush me or make me feel as though I was taking too long. Instead, her focus was on helping me find the right shoes. For the first time in 10 years I now have a pair of running shoes that fit my feet perfectly. Also, my wife is on her feet all day working as an R.N. and has struggled to find shoes that make the day more bearable. Let the professionals guide you! I've recently been working towards fitness after a long absence and have been having foot problems. I started with e-mailing a laundry list of questions to "The Shoe Guy" address on the Total Runner website. Dave took time to respond very promptly to my questions in detail and address all of my concerns. I made my decision to buy shoes today and my name was given to the staff, letting them know I'd be stopping in! When I got there Debbie proceeded to take her time assessing my needs, measuring my feet, bringing out different brands, multiple sizes to be sure the fit was good. No rushing, having me walk the store and specify to her how each fit, explaining to me how a good shoe should fit. I could tell it wasn't just about a sale but she really wanted me to have the best shoe possible. I felt no pressure to buy the most expensive shoe, but the right one. When I mentioned orthotics we BOTH made an informed decision. Most stores would have just pressed for the additional sale but we discussed that I'd come back after I tried my new shoe so I didn't take on too much at once. Believe me when I say I will be driving the distance so Total Runner can take care of all of my future running needs. This is a prime example of exceptional service from beginning to end. I am pretty new to running, never did it seriously before now. I started running a few miles a couple times a week for fitness and noticed I was continually getting bad shin splints. I went to total runner for advice and the guy was super knowledgeable. He was able to tell a lot about my pain by looking at the running shoes I was wearing vs. what I should be wearing and helped me understand what the problem was. Awesome store. It is the only place I will go for running shoes. The guys here know everything about running and what shoe works for your foot, just by looking at the way you stand, and measuring your feet. They bring out shoes that will work for you and support your feet perfectly. Prices are slightly higher than you would find online, but it is worth the price to get the help from the guys here. My orthopedic doc sent me here to buy a shoe insole. I brought one home and walked on it for a week and was convinced this did the trick to cure my aching feet. They manufacture their own orthotic. Previously I purchased a Spenco orthotic, but the Total Runner brand is much better. Don't even think of using a drugstore brand. My husband had his made by his podiatrist for $300 and the Total Runner orthotic looks and feels identical, for 1/10th of the price. I'm buying several more, I change shoes often so I won't have to switch them every time. I hope they keep making this product. No other brand compares. read more
