The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. The size selection is great especially when shopping for more of a plus size selection. I loved how they had up-to-date fashion for reasonable prices. read more

If you are looking to sell, don't go here! They are snobby and biased! I brought in 4 bags of all nice name brand things. Nike, Bebe, north face, lululemon, Victoria's Secret pink and more! The girl had a biased opinion as soon as I came I. Because I didn't have my license and said if they don't take anything from the first bag they will pass on the rest to "keep things moving" I told her which bag to go through and she did t even go through the proper bag. They took ZERO items. Worst Plato's closet I've ever been to. read more

The staff are unfriendly, snobby, and unknowledgeable. I brought in about 100 pieces of clothing and shoes: American Eagle, Aerie, Van's, Converse, bebe, Union Bay, Levi's, Nike, ALL were purchased within the past few months, the majority were never even worn (I lost a lot of weight and they no longer fit). My clothes are expensive, and in pristine, like-new condition. They offered to buy 6 pieces for $25 and said the rest of my items were old seasons, showed too much wear, and were not in-demand brands. While they only took 10 minutes to sift through my clothes, I shopped the store. The skanky, trashy, heavily worn used clothes on their racks that they have paid people for while telling me mine were not good enough is baffling. The racks are overpacked, crammed, most clothes are covered in lint and do not look clean. The 12 year-olds that work at this store should not be left in charge to decide what to stock the store with. read more

Looked through less than half the clothes I brought, and left the rest in a balled up mess.

Good selection of clothes in multiple sizes! They organized things by size and type of clothing, which I found helpful. Everything was decently priced and I left very happy! Absolutely gonna come back read more

I took some clothes in to sell. They asked for so much personal information I felt uncomfortable giving it. I started asking questions no one could or would answer. The businesses perspective is that customers are trying to cheat the store no matter what. The manager said it was the law to give personal info over to sell her used clothes. I asked what law? I seriously have never heard of this anywhere in my entire life. No one could answer my questions. Shut up. Give me all your personal info. Be silent if not happy or leave. I wasn't allowed to give my business information either. Yes, I asked why and said that I was just trying to understand why. My items were given back and I was asked to leave and never return. Not everyone's out to get you, lady. Or are you doing something you shouldn't, I wonder? One star because she wasn't rude. read more

Just an okay store, very small range of clothing inside which is weird because they don't accept all clothes brought in store. The stock is very one sides to fit one type of person, such as a rural teenage girl. The store even describes that to you when attempting to drop off clothing. For the area, it's safe to say that they don't fit the stock for their community therefore will always lack customers. Service is pretty fast, but it also depends on the day. Don't bother dropping off clothes here, there is a location about 20 minutes away in Canton that will give an exact list of things they need & will accept most things you bring in. read more

Plato's Closet - Discount Store Near Me - Allen Park, Michigan

This store is an absolute scam. I actually cannot comprehend how this store is still open for business. I came into the store with a whole tote of name brand clothing to sell. anything from Coach purses, Columbia jackets, and American eagle jeans. They took six of the most expensive pieces of clothing and gave me three dollars for each piece. Sell your clothes on poshmark or depop and get what you deserve for it. the lady was not very welcoming when I walked into the store ( and it was my first time ) this place REALLY needs to be shut down. absolutely horrible. I feel bad for anyone that falls for this scam. read more

You have a piece of clothing you don't wear anymore. It's not been worn for over a year. You're in the area and it only makes sense to see if you can get some cash out of it so you google resale for cash places and you know the creepiness of Craig's List and what do you find? Plato's Closet. Awesome in principle, horrid in practice! I have about 3 pairs of jeans I wanted to sell. High-end boutique jeans that retail over $150. Yes, that's per pair. Granted, I moved in a different direction with my personal style, still, clothes are clothes and so for a resale shop, anything should be feasible to have. I didn't care how much I got, I just wanted to get rid of them. What was I met with? The surveyor of the clothes who was in charge of pricing the articles checked everything, folded them up, placed them back in the bag I brought them in. The excuse as to why I was neglected any sort of pay? Because my jeans aren't acid washed, they're in prime condition meaning NO DISTRESSING, and they aren't slim or skinny jeans. I have 3 jeans that are in prime or at least like new condition, no distressing because people who pay for holes are functionally retarded (when you can do it yourself as in a solid pair of H&M or ZARA Jeans can go between 20-75 dollars and you can distress them yourself), and these are boot cut jeans. Do not give Plato your time or money unless you're desperate but definitely find alternative means to sell your articles of clothing. eBay has more potential and gives you the means to have a better chance of selling your clothes than this joke of a place. read more

This place was a complete waste of time. I had two garage bags with of clothes and 1 pair of shoes that has NEVER been worn. Do you know out of every piece of clothing I had, they only took 1 dress and gave me $3 for it?? I understand this a second hand store. I wasn't expecting $100... But at least $15 to 20 bucks?? The people were also very rude and made me feel unwelcomed. read more

The staff here were the worst I ever met. They don't greet you when you walk in. When you ask for assistance the young ladies are curt in their response to you. I wanted to sell a couple items and thought this a good idea...WRONG! I called on the phone later to ask a question and again the young lady on the phone was very rude. I don't know who owns this place, but it is the most unpleasant place I have ever visited and I will never visit again. I wish I could give this place a negative 10! read more

They make sure everything is clean and very gently used. I have bought half of my wardrobe here and highly recommend checking them out if you have an expensive taste with a low budget. read more

I don't know why I even wasted my time. I made sure all of my clothing items were listed under the "brands they love" on the website. Many of these items were basically new or with tags. The sales associate didn't even look through any of my stuff! She must have thought I wasn't paying attention. She took the lid off one of my bins and then put it back on the ground after looking at one item. It would have been fine if she didn't buy my clothes because they were bad but she obviously hates her job and doesn't care about the customers. It's pure laziness and honestly really insulting. I used to love this location but the quality has definitely declined in the past 5 years. DON'T ADVERTISE THAT YOU BUY CLOTHES IF YOU ACTUALLY DON'T. Your loss though. A different Platos is about to get a bunch of new high quality clothing. Update: the location in Canton bought like 10 things from the exact same bins. This location is trash. read more

This location is a joke; whoever owns it needs to strongly review their staff or strongly consider closing up shop. I accompanied my wife last night to this location as she had several new to lightly used expensive name brand items of clothes and bags she was willing to sell. We got there several hours before they close, it was dark out but both the store sign and the open sign were turned off. It was hard to tell if they were even open. Turned out they were open but just slacking off. They took her stuff and held it behind the counter. Told us it would be about 20 minutes to look through it and come up with an offer. They took an hour! While employees walked around the store pretending to be busy, spot vacuuming the entrance etc. They loosely thumbed through the items unfolding them but not really looking at them or even checking any sort of inventory or anything. They then rudely told her they weren't in style and couldn't buy anything. Huge waste of time! The stuff she had actually just seemed to good for them. As the stuff they had out on the racks were all cheap garbage. My final review is this place is staffed by teenage girls that don't want to work or even be there. I suspect the lights being out was even an attempt to look closed to avoid doing any work or dealing with any customers. They waste your time and don't even really look though your stuff. They treat your stuff you bring in like a bag of dirty dumpster towels. They have no taste, no real management, horrible customer service, tacky items for sale. Don't waste your time here. Sell your stuff online! Whoever owns this location I challenge you to run a secret sting operation here if you don't believe all these negative reviews this place has. Go in with a bag of stuff they should buy and see what happens. If they would recognize you then send in a family member or someone else that would do it for you. Record the incident even. Then start firing and restaffing or consider closing the store to avoid further loss. Dump the Inventory online. As I assume you will see embarrassing results if you test these employees. read more

Worst customer service ever!!! The so called manager that she claims she is, has a bad bad attitude!! Her name is makayla! I took my clothes and couple handbags to get an estimate like every other person!! She treated my clothes like they were from the dumpster! When I dropped off my clothes I folded each and every pair and piece of clothing and when I came back, my stuff was thrown back in the my basket and totally ruined. I was expecting to get my clothes the same way I brought them in! Again HORRIBLE STORE, BAD SERVICE AND WORST MANAGER I HAVE EVER CAME ACROSS THEY WILL GIVE YOU PRICES AND IF YOUR NOT HAPPY WITH WHAT THE TELL YOU THEY WILL THEN TREAT YOU LIKE GARBAGE!!!! NASTY SERVICE AND NOT A FRIENDLY STORE! read more

Came in to sell some things. None of which they took even though I see these exact styles on their racks. Then they tried to offer me less than $5 for a brand new (though past season) pair of ASICS Gel Nimbus and tried to justify their pricing, but I guarantee, based on lesser brand shoes I saw on sale in the store, they would turn around and sell them for WELL over 3X what they offered me (which is how they explained their pricing to me). read more

Brought a few bags of used clothes with a few new, never worn items and a box of shoes to sell. They told us this stuff is supposed to be in baskets even though I went in the website beforehand and it said nothing about that, but they accepted it for review anyways and they told us it would take about a half hour, and that they would send us a text when it was all ready. We never got a text so we ended up waiting longer than we had to and they told us they weren't accepting any of it, I could clearly see all of our clothes there unopened. There were a few items in there I guarantee they would want... clearly the staff was just too lazy to actually do their job. I almost never blame the workers since 90% of the time they're just doing their job but I cannot think of a reason for this incident not being the fault of the staff on-site. read more

When I walked in with my clothes I asked if I needed an appointment, apparently no. That's a plus and the reason why they get one whole star! Congrats. I k ew it would be a dark and uncomfortable experience when I left my clothes with the cashier. She was a sweet, quiet girl. I asked her how she was doing and she said, "not great...," I asked why not and she said, "because I'm working here." very ominous. I left for forty minutes uses because they said they would go through my clothes but I don't believe they did. If you're thinking about selling your clothes look forward to being humiliated by the man behind the counter. He'll talk at you, staring into the distance about what is in fashion while you're standing there waiting for him to stop talking and either say how much they'll give you or politely decline your clothes. He didn't take any of my clothes but he did say he'd buy the leather jacket that I was currently wearing, mind you it was 15 degrees in the middle of winter and I wasn't about to sell anything to him that I actually liked. I found that tactic unprofessional. If youre addicted to shopping but have no standards you might want to try this place out. It's all mall clothes and they wouldn't take any of my designer stuff. I think it's because I had a lot and they were lazy. read more

I had the absolute worst experience at this establishment... I took brand new clothes ( never been worn WITH THE TAGS STILL ON THEM) the young clerk had asked me was it my first time selling, I told her yes and provided all of my information etc,) and the appointment went completely downhill from there.... There customer service was HORRIBLE and they made me feel racially profiled!!! The experience was so horrible that I promised them that I would NEVER return or support that site ever again!!! read more

This location has so many nice people working there. I appreciate the wonderful customer service I receive each time and they do their very best to accommodate customers with their needs. WISH 0 STARS WAS A OPTION This store has plenty of negative reviews on Google, but, against my better judgement, I decided to go there and give them a chance. I took in about 3 bags of name brand jeans in WONDERFUL, like new condition (7 For All Mankind, Joe's, Paige, Citizens of Humanity, Rag and Bone, etc), and a few new with tag shirts and dresses. I was told that my bag would be checked and ready in about 45 mins bc there were 2 people ahead of me. Besides that seemed about right for the amount of clothing that I took in. Approximately 7 mins later I get a text indicating that my bag is ready to be picked up. When I went to get my bag I was informed that they didn't accept any of the items. The funny thing is, when I got home and went through my clothes I realized, as I'd already suspected, they didn't even check the clothes. I know this because I turn my shirts/dresses inside out when I store them, and they were still inside out in the exact order that I'd placed them in the bag. Do yourself a favor, and don't even waste your time. Sell your items on Poshmark. read more

The girls who were working in this store were extremely rude and should not have been left alone in this store. The girl behind the cash register was standing there on her phone not even paying attention, and when I said hello to her she still was gazing at her phone and screamed for the other young lady to ring us up. The other girl did not know what she was doing, and when she asked the other girl for help, she told her to figure it out. They were not polite, and I was the only one who said goodbye and to have a nice day. She handed me my reciept without saying anything. This was a horrible experience and I will not be going back. read more

I have never actually shopped here, but taking my clothes was a joke. I have a really expensive closet... This place wanted to give me $4.20 for a $180 wallet. They throw all of your things back into whatever you brought it in like a mess, and don't even bother to close anything that you take in that may be packaged. Some items may be "too high end" you won't get over $10 for an item. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. I would rather donate all my unwanted items. read more

I will never go here ever again today I brought in three bags of name brand stuff and off the bat the two girls working were giving me and sister dirty looks and just giving us a hard time for no reason so we give them the clothes and walk around and then not even 10 minutes later they say it's ready and they one of the girls said they were unable to give us any money because there was "pet hair" on the clothes and the funny thing is we washed all the clothes before coming and the clothes in the bags weren't even touched they didn't even open the bags we were livid because we were really struggling and needed some money and the girls I honestly just think they were racist because they we just so rude to us as soon as we walked in don't go there at all ! read more

I always sell here and usually have no problem. The last 2 or 3 times has been a JOKE. This time I brought in a Michael kors purse, multiple pairs of basically BRAND NEW uggs, juicy couture, Nike, etc. Everything was almost brand new, had little wear, washed the same day. Then I walk in they say they changed their policy to 25 items a day, okay. They give me a bin to go through my things ON THE FLOOR (probably how my stuff had "pet hair" when I don't even own a pet and it had been washed the same day). Then they tell me I have to stay in store while they check it, also new policy apparently. I walk around for 45 min, notice a girl on crutches comes in and they make her stay in store too. Didnt offer her a chair or anything. The funniest part of the whole experience: the girl checking my stuff took a while 20 seconds to dump my bag out, grabs the purse and uggs and throws EVERYTHING back into the bag right away. Takes another 30 seconds to look at the purse and shoes (again in great condition and nearly brand new) and throws them in the bag too. Didn't take a single thing. HUGE waste of time. What a joke. They told me they need "new styles" when they stuff I brought is literally from THIS YEAR and they have dirty ass shoes all over the place. And the free bags you get from Victoria's Secret lmfaoooo and they said my stuff had pet hair when I DONT OWN A PET lol I attached some photos of my stuff that has "too much wear, pet hair, and isn't in style" makes zero sense, this place sucks don't go here read more

It's been my dream to find a resale shop that resembles a boutique. A Plato's Closet, items are arranged by size, color and season. You don't have to sift through junk or find and item only to discover it's not your size. This is the starter store for new thrifters. read more

WORST CONSIGNMENT STORE AROUND!! I went in here with 20-25 name brand pieces of clothing all in very good condition, and then waited an hour for them to tell me they would take 3 things and would give me a total of $5.15. Don't waste your time even going in this place. The staff is rude and not helpful at all. I will say that this platos has the best selection I've seen, but I am very disappointed with the customer service. In August I made a purchase and a sales associate convinced me to spend $20 more to get a coupon for a visit in October. She failed to mention that the coupon was only valid at that location and with the receipt attached, so naturally I threw away the receipt and tried to use it two months later at a different location. When that didn't work I tried using it at the Allen park location, even offering to show my bank account info from my purchase. No luck. I am extremely disappointed in the lack of transparency and hope that in the future a ripoff like this doesn't occur again read more

The employees were very friendly, but these places are always picky. I only got $11 for 7 items they took from me and a few of them were never worn with tags still on them. I am fed up with this store! The staff is very rude and unfriendly and they barely look at your clothes before handing them back and basically saying "No thanks". This last visit was a joke. They handed me back my clothes and said they couldn't take them until I washed them all because of the pet hair. When I said I didn't own any pets so that could not possibly be true, the girl said, "Well you can still wash them and bring them back for reconsideration." I think not! When this place first opened the staff was great and they ALWAYS took the majority of the clothes I brought in. They even went so far as to say "Looking forward to seeing you again." My clothes are always clean and folded when I bring them in, however that is NOT how I get them back. I feel the staff is lazy and just doesn't want to be bothered. THIS IS THE WORST PLATOS CLOSET!! Employees are definitely NOT trained. Took a bag full of nice designer clothes and jewelry. Brand new adidas and other stuff that is requested. Thry offered me $6. They have 6 employees standing around. Waiting 20 min in line. As I watched the guy look at my stuff he threw them as if he was disgusted. But you should see what this guy looked liked. Ugly dirty clothes. Just like what all the employees were wearing. Very filthy store. They want designer but store smells and clothes are mostly Rue 21. Let's talk about the attitude now. They act like they are working at GUCCI IN LA. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME. DONATE OR SELL ON OFFER UP OR CRAIGSLIST. Don't let them treat you like your below their Ugly standards. read more

A great Platos closet with friendly and helpful employees. I just do not like the fact that the employees are understaffed which forces them to work twice as hard for a minimum wage job.
