The Beer: my feeling on it is "clean" - the unifying theme is forward flavors that are balanced. I did not try their smoked lager, as I was unknowing and stuck in the IPA vein, but will next time, now that trust has been established. From their offerings, you get the sense that they know what they aiming to provide, and they deliver. As an example , being at Pelican brewing yesterday, the contrast of brewing approach is super apparent. Foreland to me, seems focused in fitting their seamless brews almost like a swath of a specific unifying hues in a painting. They could be, the clean cut and unifying hues of the water in The Sea at Les Saintes. Each it's own color, but representing a bigger picture. They fit well and don't over, or, underwhelm. As a newer establishment, it's a great place to start conversations as the vibe is pretty open, and the outdoor area gives the ability to move around and not feel confined. Foreland fits well with the cast of brewing characters of McMinnville, safely. I look forward to visiting to grab a can to go and sit and enjoy- it's that kinda friendly influx vibe. Wear a mask though, I got called on that, but fully understand policy and their guy was very respectful in that ask, provided the mask too. In and out, fun. My recommendation at a marketer- Music, something more than just the "brew chill" playlist that Raised by Wolves catalyzes every weekend with Johnathan Wilson and friends letting the Sonos lull the atmosphere towards indifference. It would be great to see someone take a chance to develop attention toward waiting for a next song, instead of wondering when the Spotify is going to reconnect to the Sonos to play Khruangbin effortlessly. Not like there is a thing wrong with Khruangbin, or 80s, or 90's, or sitting listen to those manicured for the sitting masses playlists. But if my future is to only hear Stevie Nicks dip into landslide while sipping beer forever...I will resist that narrative. Interesting and forward thinking music would set this atmosphere apart, and definitely make me show up more:) cheers!

Evasion Brewing was the latest McMinnville brewery I got to try lately. I do have to say the beer…read morewas fairly unique and very flavorful that made this brewery experience a positive one. The Batch 3 Imperial Barrel Aged Stout was very good with it's cinnamon, chocolate and bourbon highlights. Buckwheat was also involved in the making of this beer which is gluten-free but I do enjoy the Buckwheat flavor in general as it has a naturally sweet flavor to it. Investigating further into the brewery Google has it listed as temporarily closed and further prodding on my part on Facebook reveals that the owners have been doing well with the business but are deciding to sell it since they don't feel like they have the time to properly run it. I did not learn that new ownership has taken over the reigns yet. So it sounds like the taproom is closed but perhaps call ahead if possible to see if someone is there rather than going there to find the taproom not open. I have also spotted Evasion's products at select liquor stores like Total Wine and Beverage so that may be an option to explore with as well to try out their beer.

The beer I got here was a Mexican Lager and I am fairly picky with them. After trying both locations I decided that I liked the darker beers better from this brewery. The name of the beer I had was the Cerveza Dorada. Flavor highlights in this beer are grainy, floral, hoppy, malty and with a clean finish. It wasn't one of the better Mexican Lagers I came across but it was still okay...but as I said this is a type of lager I am fairly picky with.

My beer of choice here was a Blonde/ Golden Ale that went by the name the Bee's Knees. This beer was good enough... I would not say it put me into five star orbit but I am a snob with rating things on Yelp. Despite that the experience with this beer was solid and enjoyable enough. For the flavor profile in this beer look for a naturally sweet flavor and a presence of honey. The beer is smooth in body and is nice and light bodied. It was a fun beer to try no doubt and it was nice to revisit the beers of this brewery once again.

A few patrons came in and out for beers to-go, a few stayed to enjoy beers on-site like us. I quite liked the quiet evening so we could fully soak in the goodness of de Garde beer, the warm atmosphere, and have time to chat with the friendly bartender on shift. We had a few beers on the patio to enjoy the cool coastal air, then moved inside for our next round. We enjoyed sitting in both areas. While all of their beer is phenomenal to us, the stand outs for me were The Purple: Gin Barrel Cuvee and The Renrocha. Although we were flying in from out of State, we took 3 bottles home with us so we could continue savoring the well-crafted beers of de Garde! Can't wait to come back!
