This is much more than a review....it is a history of our,relationship with Tom McMahon. It all started with hurricane Irene, several years ago, when we had water damage to our house. Tom came In and repaired all the damage as well as putting some measures in place to make sure that our basement would never flood again. Since then, he has remodeled our kitchen, bathrooms, (2), turned three separate bedrooms into a huge master bedroom with a walk in closet, built a man cave in the basement, put in an elevator to help my wife with her mobility issues, and a heated walkway for the same reason. His most recent project was to close in our 16x20 deck into an amazing three season room. If you look at the pictures that have been posted, SIX of them are from the work Tom did on our house. Tom is the best contractor you will ever use BAR NONE,!! He works with you all the way through the project and will not rest until it is perfect. He is the only "outsider" I have ever used who treated my home as if it were his own. He is an amazing craftsman and will never cut corners. I can't tell you the horror contractors i've dealt with over the years. Somehow, even though recommended by my friends, I couldn't find one that had what I call the service triple fecta; 1-great customer service 2-reasonably priced 3- finish project at a high quality and within the timeframe and budget set. Tom over at McMahon's Home Improvement has a forum on facebook, McMahon's Home Improvement Forum, someone sent me a link to it...he's like a Hudson Valley Holmes on Homes! He came in and fixed the ceiling joists and the botched attic restoration from my most recent nightmare and put in a beautiful 9' dormer and finished my two new rooms really well...no bells and whistles cause my budget was pretty low but very nice, on time and on budget. ..really clean too. We had a relatively straight forward project-removal and replacement of a French door with a French slider to our porch. Log house made it a bit challenging for removal and fitting. Got a better price for custom configuration of the Marvin door through local William's Lumber, so MHI said get it there and then provided recommendations for inspecting the door upon delivery. Trying to get door installed around holiday travel plans and MHI worked with me to get that done. Said it might take 2 days. Crew showed up on time and battled through a ton of glue and caulk and 8-inch spikes to remove the old door. They had the new door in, customized casement trim, and the work area cleaned up by mid afternoon. And through all that with the door out they did not let our indoor cat escape. Several other upcoming interior and exterior projects planned for the next year and will definitely look to MHI when I am ready. read more

Tom McMahon and his crew at McMahon Home Improvements (MHI) were great to work with when my wife and I converted our garage into a day spa. We had some slightly quirky requirements and had also wanted to do some of the rough in work (radiant heat, steam shower) and all the finish work ourselves - MHI worked closely with us from end-to-end with the design, scheduling, changes and construction work. They were professional, always up front, honest and fair about scope and changes. Tom and his crew would start at 7am daily - they worked their tails off in one of the coldest of winters I can recall. Honestly, I came into our project with some trepidation of contractors in general. However, Tom and MHI turned that fear around. I work at the Hudson Valley LGBTQ Community Center in Kingston. McMahon's Home Improvement was hired to work on the roof of the building and to remove and replace the capitals. They did a beautiful job on both fronts. The office is always great to deal with and they were very patient with us as we went through some staff transitions. One day, a window in our ED's office shattered without warning. I called Tom McMahon and he came over right away to look at it, then brought his window guy with him and by the end of the day, the window was fixed. You don't find that kind of service just anywhere. I would highly recommend McMahon's to do work for you, whether it's residential, commercial or business. I had a problem with mold in my attic, caused by improper ventilation from the exhaust fan in my upstairs bathroom. I called up McMahon's Home Improvement, and spoke with Amy, who was very pleasant and helpful. She quickly arranged for Mr. McMahon to come out and give me an estimate to fix the problem. Mr. McMahon diagnosed the problem and gave me a very reasonable estimate to remove the mold and create proper venting of the bathroom exhaust. I hired McMahon's Home Improvement, and they did the job on schedule for the price quoted. I was very pleased with the quality of their work and the professionalism of the whole organization. We were new to the renovation process and found ourselves with 6 windows for the first floor and no idea how to go about hiring a contractor. The first guy came and saw what we needed, but when he found out that we already had the windows, he had no interest. Then a friend's recommendation, call Tom McMahon. We did and we are extremely pleased with everything his company did for us. Within 3 days he had a crew here to install the windows. Mr. McMahon did an excellent job building out this space, with construction of a dormer and storage space built into the sides of the room. He was always on the job supervising the work and advising my wife and I of the progress being made. He also was very responsive to our requests and concerns. Tom McMahon renovated my multifamily building in New Paltz after fire destroyed parts of the building; a tenant left a burning cigarette on the window sill. His work was quick, of high quality, reasonably priced, and compassionate to those left homeless for 2+ weeks. Frankly, when he was done, you would never have known there was a fire. I had the interior of my entire house painted by their painter, Ray. He was VERY clean and courteous and did a killer job. I felt 100% comfortable with him in our house by himself.
