We were about to travel back to the state we were moving from when we used Yelp to find a family owned carpet business. We popped in and saw samples and picked what we liked. Here's the big thing, Nick met us at the house, early the next morning before we left to drive back home, and took all the measurements so the carpet could be ordered right away. His recommendations for carpet based off of possible wear patterns and our pets that were incredible - a year later and it all looks like it was just installed. He's so helpful and personable - you won't get that from a corporate place. Also, he came out and managed every aspect; no subcontracted crew that may or may not have been vetted by the big corporation. Today, now all our interior stuff is done, he did our entryway. When it was obvious that the old flooring couldn't be salvaged, he found replacement wood that matched the original. He carefully measured and added material to level the floor, then installed beautiful new flooring. We also asked him to refinish the table. He scraped off the old finish, sanded, and finished with food-safe tung oil, creating a beautiful soft sheen. He was prompt, efficient, and reasonably priced for a high quality job.

I researched and learned that they put down #1 grade red oak. The house has select grade (higher) WHITE OAK. And the floor was poorly laid with H joints everywhere. The president John took no responsibility. He accused me of lying by way of wanting a free floor. He kept trying to convince me the entire house was red oak (I went the extra mile and had it chemically tested. It's white oak). John stated that it was "awfully funny that I suddenly knew so much about floors" (of course once I saw something was wrong I wanted to understand what that was). John proceeded to rip a chunk out the corner of the living room floor for testing, as opposed to the closet where I asked him to remove it. See photo. Outrageous (for photos see google review) We took a HUGE LOSS on this floor. John REFUSED to remove the floor they installed! We had to pay another company to clean up this mess. It set us behind by MONTHS as post-covid construction is booming and it was difficult to obtain the correct wood at that time. Summery: wrong species of wood, wrong grade floor, layed over my old subfloor but charged for removal and replacement of subfloor, poorly layed down. Refused to remove the floor. Accused me of laying despite all evidence presented to him. I regret not suing this company, something I have never done. But we just did not have the mental energy in the middle of this remodel to take on a court case. *Update through replacement process we discovered they did NOT take out and replace the existing subfloor - which they charged me for.
