I have a 2014 Hyundai Sonata with about 140000 miles on it. Ive brought it to the dealership and other service stations only to have aggravation. in the last few months. Brought my car (Lexus) in for a routine service and was told I needed new tires, brakes and rotors. Wanted to give the neighborhood guy a shot and avoid the dealership. Got my car back and the brakes shrieked so loud they were setting off the window breakers in my garage when I backed out. Figured it was just because they were new pads. Went back in six months to get an oil change and told them about the brakes. Was told it was "probably faulty" pads and "the brakes didn't make any noise when the mechanic tested it". Was told the pads were replaced. Brakes still made noise when I got them back so I went to Lexus after all. Cost me another $1,100 to get the brakes and rotors replaced as I was told after market parts were used. The brakes are now quiet. Very disappointed to say the least. read more

We had an issue with our tire - 2nd time the idiot light went on! We drove right over to McLaughlin's. They have always been such a pleasure to work with. They put the car right up on the lift and took care of plugging the tire in no time at all. What a pleasure it is to have such a great partner in our community. The absolute best mechanics and repair shop ever. My father (god rest his soul) had been using them since the 1970s or 1980s, when Johns father ran the shop. Just 6 months ago this repair shop replaced a starter two days later it failed I returned to McLaughlin's and it was repaired replaced This weekend the new starter failed again. I phoned and was told I could have my car towed but no one can even do anything till Late Monday or Tuesday and I would have to pay for the new starter ... now really 3 starters in less than a year Where is he getting his parts. No warrantees. This is a one car family with a young child ..Need to be sure car can be counted on !!!! Cannot trust their parts .....cannot feel confident . read more

McLaughlin is THAT honest mechanic and I will never take my car(s) anywhere else. Case in point? When Toyota quoted me $550 to "fix" a dead low beam on our 2003 Highlander a few years back, I brought it to Mr. McLaughlin for a second opinion. He told me to pop the hood and walked into his shop. Two minutes later, he reached in, replaced the BULB and asked me for $10.00! He's been my mechanic ever since. read more

My car was stuck in their shop for over one month to do a head gasket, which is a 5 hour job. I drove the car off the lot and the issue I was having - seemed like low compression - came right back. My money was refunded after I threatened small claims court. Also: - They are poor communicators. They had me call 1-2x per day, and never provided me with updates other than, "Working on it, call back later." In fact, they're rude. - They're sloppy. My car was returned with grease everywhere outside, a bottle of Pepsi inside. - They don't care. My car was returned to me with low coolant that they should've replaced when doing the head gasket. - My friend had a similar experience here in 2002. I had my car towed and didn't realize it was the same shop until I picked it up. Stupid on my part. My only good part of the experience is that my money was finally refunded. read more

John and staff are fabulous. Very, very reasonable prices. They work on high end cars that are a fortune to service at the dealership. John is literally a 1/4 the price and the service is stellar. I've never had an issue with any of my cars after it's service. I've seen people come off the highway w/ tire issues and the like and John will immediately tend to the person and won't charge the person if it's a quick fix. I doubt if any reviews are really necessary as the number of cars/customers that are in the lot testify to their great work. Not just are they thorough, but they are very very honest, too. McLaughlin's is the most honest auto body shop I have ever used and we would not use anyone else. They have been servicing our cars for almost 20 years. I really wanted to like this place. I guess I got a dud of a day. I brought in my vehicle for a few fixes and some routine work such as fluid and oil change. I repeated many times what I wanted checked out and what was going on. I left my vehicle there for a couple hours and they called me saying it was done (I turned down one bigger repair job since it was more expensive and there was no attempt to retain business once I said I could get it done for less money at another shop). That being said they told me I could pick up the vehicle and it shocked me that it could have been done so quick so I reiterated everything that needed to be done and it was confirmed. Of course when I go pick it up 1/5th of the things were actually done or checked.. I was willing to spend atleast a thousand dollars there that day and had the mindset that I would spend anywhere from $1,000-$1,500 but since they wanted to cut me short of the work they did they missed out and all they got from me (since I guess they were lazy) was a few bucks for some routine work. Again I've only gone there once and once for another vehicle and I would happily give them another shot but it would have to be in disparate times since I wasted so much time of my day that could've been saved by going elsewhere.. now I will be taking my business elsewhere and they missed out on a good $1k in rev. I would've gave 2.5 stars because I'm indifferent on the business but what killed me is the lack of communication or completion of my requested items however I didn't give 1 star because I didn't have a horrible experience, I just had them not do work that I requested. In the end it just cost me time and not additional money that could've happened. read more

They are honest, reasonable, and available. They provide very clear directions on what should by fixed and what can be left alone (and for how long). If you make an appointment, service is timely. They maintain our 2005 Toyota Avalon and our 2006 Hyundai Elantra at reasonable enough rates to keep them on the road. They were recommended to me and now I recommend them to others. read more

I have been going to John M. for a few years now. I have a Honda and older Saturn. Service is great, I've come to get used to his mom answering the phone when I call - feels like home. I've priced other mechanics and he's done great. I haven't used him for preventative checks - he's a fixer but if you want to save money he will also use a junkyard part to save you some and do the install just charging for labor which was reasonable. Bus across the street which is such a relief if you commute to the city and need. You drop off and go to work. and then return at his doorstep to pick it up. read more

I drove around for awhile on a leaky left strut, but when I starting feeling a tire issue, I knew it was time to drop the car off for repairs. I had received 3 separate recommendations to go to McLaughlin's. While the nature of strut and tire replacements aren't cheap, McLaughlin's did the work for a fair price. I was able to drop my car off before heading to my job, and they went beyond to work with me to get it afterward. It's only been 2 days later, but I am 100% satisfied. read more

Hi I grew up around my father and his four brothers who were mechanics as people say back yard mechanics but there wasn't a thing my father couldn't fix or figure out even before scanners came into the picture and I grew up under cars and under hoods I never let anyone even look under my hood let alone touch there are many things I know how to diagnose being a woman is surprising to most but if I can't figure it out I'll sleep on it I can do basic oil changes brakes rotors radiator replacement battery's hoses little things that don't require much strength but being a woman and growing up with a father who did everything to motors repairs rebuilds transmissions clutches and even performance I never needed to go to a mechanic in 2009 I lost my father my best friend and my mechanic I had been a service manager for 7 years in a shop I've seen it all so I have a American muscle car and needed a clutch I had a friend who worked for them and John quoted me a 1/4 of the price for my cobra clutch I gave him the job and like I mentioned I do all I can but I recently just dropped off a Ford Explorer and have asked him to do timing chains the entire motor needs to be pulled to do the work I trust John 100% and his parking lot is NEVER empty that goes to show you they do what they say and I was provided with great service before while and after and not to meamtion my car isn't a daily driver but my clutch was installed CORRECTLY and still going as of 5 years and I would highly recommend them to anyone read more

McLaughin's Auto Service Center is absolutely awesome! I brought my car in after being told by a tow truck that I definitely needed a new battery. The guys at McLaughlin told me they would check it out and see if they could charge the battery for me instead of having to buy a new battery. I came back the same day and they told me that I certainly did not need a new battery. They charged my battery for me and didn't charge me a dime! This place is honest, fair and VERY friendly! After explaining the problem with my car and verifing that it was a problem they promised to fix it.Well 300 bucks later for a tune up and air element change the car still runs the same rough uneven idle.The owner tells me to drive it for a week and then bring it back. He stated to me that he put something in the gas tank to help clean the injectors.I just am looking for an good mechanic,,,none here. read more
