I first had a built-in oven purchase. To my surprise, McKinney's was cheaper than the big-box stores and far more knowledgeable. It was a special deal that day, so I didn't count on the deal being typical. Then my old dishwasher died, so I started looking for a new one. Checking the typical prices, I discovered (to my amazement) that the typical prices at McKinney's were far better than other locations. I haven't been able to get there yet to purchase, but based on google and McKinney's e-mail answer, there is often free delivery and $50 haul-away of old machine, but my only negative is that they don't do installations, though they keep a list of businesses that can do such. Once you meet Chris Hoxit you will have no reason to go anywhere else. I have never met anyone like him. He is incredibly knowledgeable and personable. I guarantee that you will be impressed. I went to McKinney's to support a local business and expecting the service I received in the past. I purchased a Kitchenaid refrigerator for $2,500 in early July. I received one that did not work. It was too noisy, you could eat bread out of the freezer, the refrigerator section was warmer too, and by December it was 70 degrees in both chambers. Repairman shut it down. Since July, McKinney's simply sent repair under the manufacturer warranty (repair only). Food spoiled. McKinney's boosted repair visits. Some fixes but none lasted more than a week. Food spoiled again and again. It's been six months of McKinney's refusing to replace or refund it. It is unreasonable to expect a consumer to pay $2,500 for junk (or for a refurbished refrigerator since I didn't pay for a rebuilt fridge), for the seller to do nothing to stand behind the product they sell, nor for that to be standard of care. McKinney's clearly doesn't care about the customer as they used to. Unbelievable to pay more than I have before and not have a refrigerator for six months now. They should have replaced it within the first week. Make sure you ask them what they'll do if they deliver a lemon to you. read more

So the dryer that came with this house we just bought died & after some research, I decided to spend a little more to get a better quality machine (Speedqueen) that didn't have a bunch of unnecessary gizmos or electronics. The sales staff here were super quick to respond to email inquiries, got us the exact models we desired, &shipped them out right away, delivering exactly one week later. The delivery guys got here when they said they would (I dislike things being late or waiting for things so it was nice that they were actually a few minutes early), they were extremely polite & professional & quick & had my new washer & dryer installed in minutes. They even went out of their way to do a doublecheck to ensure everything was connected properly. As Mr Burns says, excellent! So next time I need an appliance, I'll be going to these guys first. I'm not sure how these guys could ever get anything less than a 5 star review - needless to say the first time using them was amazing. Went in because they are near my house and - especially with Covid - wanted to support local biz. Showroom was clean and nice. Guy I spoke to on the phone wasn't there so I dealt with another guy. Sometimes in sales that can get nasty but not here - smooth sailing. I ordered a washer and dryer that were VERY out of stock everywhere and they couldn't give me an exact date but said they would keep me informed. I just assumed I wouldn't hear until install but Jeff called like clockwork once a week to give me an update, even if just to apologize and say they were trying. They arrived much earlier than expected which was great and scheduled the install. Brian and Eli showed up to install and were amazing. Masked up and very careful and dealt with me wanting everything to be level and perfect (worst customer ever). I was missing a part that I needed for the gas line (my fault) and THEY OFFERED TO COME BACK ON THEIR WAY HOME TO FINISH!! There would have been no way for me and the wife to deadlift that 300lbs beast of a washer 16 inches up, so this was amazing. I've never heard of a delivery service doing this before. I have never been more disappointed than I was after purchasing a dishwasher from McKinney's Appliance Center. After one day the dishwasher no longer worked. Called Colby who then had the installer come back. Once it was determined to be a faulty appliance and not installation Colby told me to call GE. The technician came out and didn't have the part and would have to order it and return in a week to fix it. I called McKinney's to have it replaced, but they refused. I had to uninstall it and return it to the store! I am out $125 paid to the installer, have no dishwasher and Colby said it was because I was impatient and should have waited. During the middle of a pandemic No one should have to deal with unscrupulous businesses! WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! Will never purchase anything from McKinney's again!! read more

Tried to buy local. Knew what we wanted (washing machine), brand and model. Wife had done extensive research and found the model that would be best for our purposes. Called first, got information about the model. Salesman tried to 'switch' at that point from a top loader to a front loader. Told him we knew what we were looking for. Gave model # and at no time did he mention that they did not have that model on the floor (it was listed on their website, with a sale price). Informed him we would be in the store that afternoon to look at the model. Asked about delivery dates, he was vague, but not wanting to waste any more of his time, figured we would ask again in store later that day. Went to the store on Martin Way, got a different salesman (who acted like a used car salesman). Not very well informed on the product. Told us that the model we were looking for had a model change and it was, surprise, surprise, more money. We informed him that the model we were interested in was listed on the website (showed them a screen shot of their site with the model and model # and price). He then went to check with his 'manager'. Model was not in stock, nor did they have a display model. It became clear at that point that this was nothing more than the old 'bait and switch' tactic. We've tried to purchase here before, but with the same results and ended up walking out. We knew what we wanted, were intending to purchase, but the experience put us off. They wanted more than double than anyone else for delivery, it did not include new hoses and they could not give us a firm delivery date. Our old washer quit working so we needed one ASAP. Was told 8 working days from the warehouse and then several more days after that for their delivery to our home. No thanks. We found the same model on line, for the same price (actually lower, when the dust settled), as it included free delivery and haul away, hoses included and an extra year of warranty included by the seller. It was great to find McKinney's Appliance. We'd checked all of the big box stores in Oly and Tacoma and couldn't get the range stove we wanted. The model we wanted was back ordered for 3 weeks. We called McKinney's and they said, sure, we have one. We were actually surprised and read the model number to them and they confirmed one was available at their second location in Oly. We walked in and there was a good selection of Maytag, Whirlpool, and GE appliances. I'm sure there were more brands but those are the brands I'm drawn to. We were greeted quickly and they remembered us from the phone call. They brought the stove out and we verified it was the correct one. Good to go! They matched the price of Home Depot even though it was back ordered, and I really appreciate that. We pulled around back to the loading dock and they loaded it up for me. After searching the week for a specific range we wanted and exhausting all of our efforts, I called Mckinney's in the hopes they had what we wanted. To our surprise, they did. This specific range was on back order at 3 of the major appliance stores I called. Not only did Mckinneys have it, the price was lower the other stores. Score! Delivery fee was a little high so we picked it up ourselves and the guys were very helpful in getting it loaded for us. We'll plan on checking them out again in the future with any appliance needs. read more

The company is a complete joke. Now with the shortage of appliances and the high demand they have and are taking advantage of every customer. I order a machined payed for them to install and they didn't. The machine never worked and they couldn't care less. There response was basically you bought it we are done with you. I don't write reviews often, but I will when I think it can help others make informed decisions. In this particular case, I had a negative experience and will not work with this company again. I couldn't quite pinpoint the sales rep. exactly, but the sales rep we worked with just didn't seem like he was customer-focused at all. I couldn't tell if he was just super super busy, not good at sales, or maybe memory problems. The other people I dealt with throughout the organization were great. Our rep. didn't act like he needed or wanted the business. Whenever our rep. said he'd call us back, he wouldn't, and I'd have to follow up with him the next day, especially when you are trying to buy something. This wasn't once; it was three or four times. On top of that, we had a delivery scheduled for Monday between 1 and 5. I had a gut feeling at 4:30 that they weren't showing up, so I called their mainline. The nice gentleman ensured me that the delivery was still happening and that I should see them shortly. After 5 p.m. rolled around, I thought, no worries, they are prob. just running late. Later that evening, I received a phone call from our rep. informing me that they weren't showing up. I understand that things happen, and I pride myself on being flexible and understanding. But when excuses are used, that really aggravates me. Just be honest and own your stuff! The reason they didn't show up..... I have a shared driveway, and the drivers tried to deliver the fridge to the first house (mine is the second house) on the drive, and it isn't difficult to find with all of the signage, arrows, and GPS. But I understand not everyone is directionally inclined, and sometimes this can happen. But.... Instead of figuring out where I lived and calling me for directions, the drivers turned around and went back to their shop without the fridge being delivered. I asked my rep. why they wouldn't call me to get directions, and he said that they had the wrong number for me on the invoice. Soooo they couldn't call the main branch number to get the correct phone number? Sounds like a bad excuse. I can see that happening if maybe my number got put in the system wrong, but we talked multiple times, so I know they have my number in their system. When they rescheduled me, I was not happy. #1 they used a really bad excuse, and #2 I spent 2 hours emptying everything from my freezer and fridge just to put everything back again and then to do it again when the fridge showed up. I thought that they would accommodate me the next day due to the hassle. I asked if I could be first on the list to get my delivery so that I potentially keep everything in my coolers. But my rep. told me that I'd have to get it when I get it between the specified time. The rep. was not apologetic, didn't seem to care at all what a hassle they caused me. Miraculously the drivers were able to easily find my house when they delivered my fridge the second time. I will say the men that installed my fridge were amazing. They were competent, polite, and respectful. I watched them take off doors, pull the fridges apart, and put them back together, etc. It didn't look easy, and I was very thankful for them. I wish they would honor what they sell. Brother purchased a Kitchenaide wall oven mid November. Had it installed prior to thanksgiving. After The holiday the Circuit board went out according to the repair man. McKinneys for the past week has been saying "we'll get back to you. This conversation has been repeated over and over again. Nice customer service. Meanwhile brother has been without an oven and microwave since November 30. Seems it would be pretty easy to honor what you sell. Appliance stores are a dying breed with the competition from big box stores like Sears and Best Buy so you would think a small store would be sure to go the extra mile to distinguish themselves. I had been in to this location and talked to one of the salesmen about purchasing a refrigerator to replace the old one in the house that I had recently purchased. The guy took down information on what I was looking for and which models I had looked at and liked. I returned a few weeks later when I was back in town and stopped in and made the purchase. Delivery was set for over a week later as they only delivered to that town once or twice a week and their schedule was already filled up for the next week. In spite of having a higher than competitive price there was also a $50 delivery charge and a $20 charge for recycling the old unit. Delivery day came and the guys brought the unit in and got it reassembled after having to remove the doors to fit into the house. The old one was taken away and that was that...until I opened the door and realized that they had not leveled the unit so the refrigerator door swung wide open and to close it you had to manually push the door all the way shut. Thankfully I had a handyman in the next day who took it upon himself to level it. When you charge top dollar, and then charge for delivery and recycling of the old appliance you should provide service that includes proper setup of the appliance. I was also surprised that for a small shop I never got a followup call from the salesperson. read more

A friend recommended this place after my order from Home Depot was once again pushed out further. I needed a dryer and wanted to be able to take it home that day. Ron greeted me and showed me what he had in stock. At no time was there high pressure to sell me anything. Update: The owner contacted us a few hours after I wrote this review and offered to take the washer and drier back without charging us the fee. He was very apologetic, and said the salesperson we had been working with should not have dealt with the situation the way he did. They called back later that day and said they had another washer in stock (same model as we purchased) that they had been holding for another customer who did not need it for a few weeks, and they could swap it out for the faulty set and bring it out to us the next day. I appreciate that the owner reached out to fix the situation.I have updated the review from 1 star accordingly. Original Review: Mckinney's sold us a broken washer and drier and refused to take it back. They sold it to us under the pretense that it was new. After it was delivered and we discovered it was broken, they made us wait a week for a GE repairman to come out and take a look at it. They told us if the GE repairman didn't fix it that day they would deliver us a new washer the next day. They said they would get started on ordering a new one right away to make sure we had a working washer and drier. A week later GE determined the washer had a broken control board and inlet valve. When we told Mckinney's the news and that we are ready for our replacement, they then tried to get us to schedule another appointment with GE to fix their broken washer. GE would have to order the parts and could not give us a timeframe for when it would be fixed. It turns out Mckinney's doesn't have a replacement for us after all and if they order one now they would not be able to get it to us for three weeks. The only reason we went with Mckinney's is that we needed a washer and drier quickly, and they said they could give us a washer a few days earlier than the big box stores could. I have already been dealing with this for too long and I am out of clean clothes, so we just asked to return the broken washer they sold us. They refused. Mckinney's tells us the only way they would take it back was if we paid them $400; 25% of the price of the washer and drier. I am really wishing I had just gone to Home Depot so I could just be doing laundry by now and not be dealing with this headache. If you buy something from this place, keep in mind you might be buying a broken appliance with no way to get your money back. read more

Overpromised/Underdelivered... We purchased $22K worth of appliances through McKinney's in November. I was told the appliances would be ready and waiting in the warehouse. (We were in the process of building a house and wouldn't be ready for the appliances until late spring but I wanted to take advantage of GE's incentive program which ended before the end of the year.) I called when the builder was ready for the exhaust fan that would go above the range, but no exhaust fan... After several weeks we finally got the fan. In the meantime the tile work behind the range couldn't be installed and the upper cabinets couldn't be installed. When you're building, everything is dependent on the job the comes just before it. Wasted time is wasted money. Fast forward to early June when we were ready to have the appliances installed and the salesman tells me that the trash compactor had been given to another buyer by another salesman. How does THAT happen? Wouldn't the appliances in the warehouse have clearly been marked with our name? (And we still have not received the compactor!) On the day of the appliance install, the installer said that the front right burner on the range was not working and that I'd need to contact McKinney's, which I did the next day. I was told that I would be contacted by the repair company, which I was the next day. When they called the date of the repair was for July 2nd - several weeks out. In the meantime, when I opened the freezer, it was full of icicles. I once again called McKinney's for another repair. Skipping ahead to yesterday when the appliance repair shop called and said they'd had a cancellation and would we like the opening TODAY! Hurray! It would all be buttoned up and I could mark appliances off my very long list of new build related to dos. When the repairman arrived, he looked at the range but when my husband referenced the freezer, the repairman said he didn't have a work order, so he wouldn't be able to work on the freezer. He said the freezer unit would need to be replaced but he couldn't even order the part without a work order. So I called McKinney's YET AGAIN to find out about the missing repair order. The salesman was off(of course...), but the fellow I talked to thought the work order had possibly gone to a different repair shop? If that's true, why would they do that! The repairmen who'd been to the house was licensed to work on my high end refrigerator/freezer. Now will we get another appointment that's weeks out? And in the meantime, we have NO FREEZER. I'm just tired of all of it - the compactor ordered in November that we still don't have, the exhaust fan that wasn't ready and waiting for us when we needed it, and two appliances needing repair that don't get tended to during the same appointment. Customer service is poor. Too many phone calls and too many emails. I send an email and when I call back the following day because no one bothered to get back to me, I'm told by the salesman that he was waiting until he had something to share. No. Communicate and let me know that you're waiting to hear back. Not hearing anything only adds to the frustration. McKinneys is worth a look! This is my first time posting a review. Not a tech savvy person. My wife and I bought a condo and needed appliances so naturally thought that one of the "big" guys would be the best option for a deal on a package. We ordered a kitchen trio on Memorial Day weekend and were told we would not see them for several weeks with COVID backups. No problem, we understood and accepted a delivery date of the middle of June. Fast forward to the Saturday that was agreed upon and after being 4 hours late, the big blue logo delivery truck arrived with only 1 of 4 pieces!! We called and a manager said that the remaining appliances would be promptly delivered in August!! Really, that doesn't work when we were moving in a few days. We refused all of it, drove to McKinneys and got a comparable price on a set that was in stock. Took one piece with us, and the rest will be delivered in time for move in date. 30 years ago I bought all my appliances from McKinney. Great store and products. 6 years ago I replaced a 15 year old clothes washer. It broke in 3 years. When I asked how they felt about selling shoddy materials McKinney guys at both locations said, "Gosh all the appliances they make these days are like that, but I'll give you $200 off an excellent machine." Okay I bit. Now 3 years later this one is broke. I called and got the same reply. I then said, "You clearly don't care. And you seem to profit from seeing me every 3 years." Dishwasher that I purchased there leaked all over my floor. I removed it to have the floors replaced and tried to take it to them to service it before reinstalling it. They don't do in-store service. purchased 5 appliances in January 2021 for a remodel that was starting March 2021. All appliances had to be ordered which was understandable due to covid and they were apartment sized. Very disappointed in the communication from the sales person. Ordered January 4, 2021 paid the deposit, hadn't received an update or heard anything from Rich Duffy my sales person until the end of March when I finally initiated the phone call. He made no attempt to contact me so I resorted to calling every other week for updates because the appliances were needed as soon as possible. I understood the back order situation I am not blaming that on the sales person. What I am dissappointed with was rudeness and the lack of communication and follow up on his behalf during this transaction. I finally received delivery of the last 2 appliances on June 7th, we picked up the 3 others the prior week. I did follow up a few days later with a written letter directed to the owner Rob McKinney. However, once we talked with a salesman he told us a few things to try with our old oven which included purchasing a part online for less than $20. His advice was correct and we were able to save all of the money we were planning on spending on a new oven. We bought all new GE Profile appliances for the kitchen remodel in January 2014, we just identified that our convection on the oven is NOT working, I called McKinney's and they sent us to GE. I called GE and then realized we dont have a service contract by calling McKinney's back. Their response was, We have NEVER sold contracts just appliances and they don't have a service department. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I bought from them becuase I wanted to support a local company not a box store. But their arrogance disgusted me when I asked him about having my appliance serviced. There was NO interest in helping us get this resolved, he basically said good luck (actually didn't even say that) and hung up! I am a Director of Sales for a fortune 100 Corporation and if that were the way my sales teams treated our Customers I would be hiring! To compete with the box stores you need to show value add propositions and much of that comes from the people that represent you and your business. If McKinney's wants to stay in business they better change the way they support their customers post sale.
