BEWARE! These guys are SCAM artists.
Currently an ongoing situation:
During the sale of my Grandfathers property (89 year old, Korean war vet,) Ted and Nate from McKenzie Valley Pump were dispatched by the buyers realtor to inspect and take water sample from properties well prior to the sale of the property.
With a brand new filter and UV light installed on the well these shady characters return a $2,000 estimate to repair the damaged well system stating that it all needs torn out and repaired. Stating to the buyers agent that the well is "beyond repair."
We had installed the filter and UV light a few days prior to the trespassing of MVP on the property. These were brand new items installed. My grandparents have lived on the property for 18 years with zero issues with the well system.
They also took a water sample for testing of bacterias and other contaminants in accordance with OR state law. In addition to their $2,000 repair estimation they also concluded that the water was tainted with E. coli and other bacterias.
I immediately drove the 130 miles to the property and took a sample of the water and had it tested. Within two days, I had the results, zero bacterias of any kind present in the water.
Upon further inspection of the well equipment and reviewing their invoice they stated that the expansion tank was waterlogged. We did confirm that yes, this tank needed replacement. I replaced the tank in 1 hour for $279.99. Not $2,000 as stated on the repair estimate.
Today, the buyer had Andy from Coastal Range Water Inc come out and look over the well system and take an independant new water sample. He concluded that the well system is functioning properly and there are no problems with the equipment we installed two weeks ago. He also took the water test in the exact same fashion I did, a week prior, of which, my test was clean (I will update this thread in two days if sample was dirty or clean.)
Not only did these guys try to take advantage of an elderly man, they also somehow made the water test positive for E. coli. This has jeopardized the sale of the property and has enraged both the buyer and seller of the property.
The company, McKenzie Valley Pump, wrote up a fraudulent estimate claiming the well system needed $2000 worth of repairs before it was able to be used. We will agree that the expansion tank was water logged and needed replaced. This was done for $279.99, not almost TWO GRAND.
This is a classic example of a shady company taking advantage of a real estate transaction to pad an invoice and try and perform work that wasn't necessary. Additionally, they also tampered with a water sample making it test positive for contaminates. This company has NUMEROUS bad reviews, where as Costal Range Water has ZERO bad reviews.
DO NOT HIRE these fraudsters. Dont hire costal either. Do your research and find someone you trust, especially if you arent sure what you are looking at. These guys at Mckenzie valley pump WILL take advantage of you, if you let them, just like all these other bad reviews about them. read more
