McKay's Market is a grocery store I've shopped in a couple grocery stores in Oregon towns and am happy to choose this company when I have an option. This grocery store has the small town feel while offering a large amount of products. I definitely recommend McKay's Market whether you're doing weekly shopping or just stopping in for snacks or picnic supplies. read more

McKay's Markets - Grocery Near Me - Bandon, Oregon

While staying in a VRBO in the area, this is the main grocery store. We found their produce to be fresh. They had all the items we were looking for including items we normally don't see in MN grocery stores like wine and beer. There aren't a lot of alternatives in the area, but McKay's should provide you with what you need for your stay. Nice people, easy parking. read more

Deli is the BEST!!! Quality is above board! Service is friendly and phenomenal. YOU GUYS ROCK!!!

There prices are as bad as Rays. 9.00 for a tiny container of salsa. From now on I will make the drive to Coos Bay Safeway and looking forward to the new grocery outlet. read more

The deli counter food (roasted chicken and fried mushrooms) was terrible - like trying to eat rubber chicken and the mushrooms definitely almost made us ill and should have been (at least) drained of the huge amounts of grease - or thrown away long before we bought them. Otherwise, the store is a really nice grocery. AND. they sell Ray-Jen coffee, which is AMAZING!!! read more

Better prices and produce than Ray's. Ray's has a bigger selection but I always go to McKay's first!

A reasonably good grocery store for a small rural town, but still lacking in many things. They had a reasonable selection of produce, and both a butcher counter, and ample meat refrigerators with an assortment of poultry, red meat and fish. They had a small deli department. In general, they had most of what most people would be looking for, but not specialty items commonly found in big city grocery stores. For example: they had LaCroix seltzer but only in a few odd flavors. They had many mineral waters (seltzer with added salts), but didn't have any plain seltzer (water + CO2 only). They didn't have tzatziki (fortunately, the person I asked knew what it was and was clear they didn't have it). They had both Häagen-Dazs and Ben & Jerry's ice creams, but a limited selection of flavors (e.g. no Häagen-Dazs coffee ice cream) The best way to put it is that they had a good selection of food and non-food grocery items, but you can't count on getting everything you need there. My experience in Bandon is that I have to go to both McKay's and Ray's in order to get the things I need on any given grocery run -- there's always something that one store doesn't have, that I hope the other does. read more

I love this place and I love the people who run the place. If you've never tried a chicken strip sandwich from the deli then you're missing out, it's a must!! read more

You end up feeling the sympathy for folks in rural communities with few grocery store choices (hey... I live in a rural town myself). I'd have expected a town with a substantial visiting tourist population to have a wider selection of products and more helpful employees (especially since the store says it's "employee owned."). But early on a Sunday evening, the soups at the deli area were gone; there were very limited deli meat selections, and the produce was looking sad. The young man in the Produce section that I asked about can openers (and where they might be found) looked at me as though I'd asked where the recently-landed space alien was living. And BTW, that would be a handy item to stock (the can opener, not a space alien), given that tourists sometimes forget to pack one, and want to open a beer or a can that doesn't have a pop or screw top. The fried chicken in the deli area was passable, checkout service was also passable but certainly not friendly. Maybe they're hoping to push visitors to local restaurants instead? read more

Great sandwiches! Deli is delicious. Had a turkey and pastrami sandwich. All the fixings except pickles. Recommended cheese bread because out of rye swirl. Excellent! Price is great for that sandwich. Recommend for quick stop. read more

If you appreciate a store that is honest do not give McKay's the time of day or your hard earned money. I purchased groceries... the drunk manager was on the phone with his assistant manager when the assistant mgr told me he needed to see my divorice papers to see if I had enough money to pay for my groceries. The people in line observing were supporting me and booing the management. My credit card went through just fine. Then the store would not give me my groceries. So I left went home and called my credit card company. Well I did get charge reversed. This is profiling at it worst! Buyer beware! read more

Go to this store over Rays for the selection of the deli. I lost an important beanie here and someone turned it in. I can't say enough about this place. They are clean. Organized and great staff. read more

Was up in Bandon at an AirBnB - what a fabulous market. Very friendly and helpful staff. Tons of selection and all of the selection I am used to at home. read more

Nice little market all in walking distance not like pavilions back home . Good service & all you may want is here including a deli .

Our Bandon McKays has a couple of unfriendly cashiers. I just avoid their lines. Yesterday, as I loaded my things on the belt, a cashier named Denice was having an argument with a man about something, and said he was welcome to speak with a manager. He replied yes, so she called and a woman came over. After a discussion, the manager told the man the same thing the cashier had, and he left. The cashier was clearly angry, as she scratched a bar code off of a label over and over before putting it in her drawer. As she turned to my items, she didn't even look at me, as she was clearly still upset. I had put an insulated bag and a regular shopping bag on the belt, then went to the ATM machine and paid with my debit card. When I finished, I saw that Denice was cramming everything in the insulated bag; heavy items too, instead of dividing the load between the two bags. I said to her, "there is another bag here". Her response was to put the remaining items on top of the now full bag, which couldn't be zipped shut because it was over full. i transferred some of my items to the paper bag as she began ringing and bagging the next customer's items. I am 74 and cannot easily carry heavy bags due to scoliosis, and that's why I brought two bags; so as not to have a heavy load to carry a long away from where I park to my front door. I certainly will not ever check out at angry Denice's counter again. McKays has a slogan that says "THE FRIENDLIEST STORE IN TOWN". Not in Bandon, Oregon it isn't! Their prices are lower than the other grocery store, but the other store, Rays Foid Place, is staffed with very nice, friendly people, which makes it a pleasure to shop there. AND their manager responds to any emails I have sent in the past, UNLIKE MCKAYS, who did NOT bother to answer my email. read more

Check your receipt. 90% of the time I find mistakes: wrong prices, duplicate charges, etc. I never leave without reviewing my receipt. Saved myself a significant amount of money by just catching their mistakes. read more

My go to grocery over Rays. They have a much better produce and deli selection plus international aisle.

This grocery store should be a stop only if you need the basics. I stopped in while vacationing in Bandon to pick up breakfast necessities for the next day: coffee filters, sugar, milk, fruit, oatmeal, etc.; they had all those things available. I am usually overwhelmed with all the options when I go to my regular grocery store, but at Price N Pride they didn't have a lot of different options or brands to choose from and that felt a little strange. Don't get me wrong, I was not going to hungry, but it would have been cool if they offered more than just the national brands and their house brand. The store itself is very outdated, dumpy looking even. The lighting is not bright which makes it feel a little bit unclean. The layout is typical, the parking plentiful and they are open fairly late for a small town grocery store, which is helpful. The cashiers are really, really nice, but not too efficient in getting you through the checkout quickly. That is not a gripe about their ability to scan items but rather their inquisitiveness and chattiness with each and every customer! The cashiers know all the regulars and will ask about church on Sunday, the kids, your hemorrhoid, the Giants and other neighborly type busybody questions. Heck, even I was queried about where I was from, how long I was staying in town and do I like Bandon. It is friendly all right, but I'm not used to this type of banter in my 'big city' grocery. My hemorrhoid is just fine thank you very much. read more

Would give 5 stars for the grocery selection, however, the staff do not strictly enforce the new mask law. We even overheard a staff member tell a family who weren't wearing masks that it was ok and that it was "their choice" to not wear one (even though it is the company policy that everyone wear a mask). The staff member said they would kick anyone out of the store who harassed people not wearing masks. Horrible safety protocols and untrained staff in regards to COVID-19. read more

Visit store many tines per week. Always have adequate staff to help with questions and ensure quick checkout. Presentations are enticing and prices fair. The employees are family friends and very kind. Covid wash stations at all entrances and both customers and employees are fully masked. I always look forward to shopping at McKays read more

Purchased some chicken and macaroni salad from deli. Store has nice deli and freshly made items.

This market is a great excuse for not having to go to Coos Bay to shop. They have a wonderful produce section, good pricing, friendly staff, and sharp management. They are so busy some days it seems they must be giving food away for free but it's just the locals and none locals like to shop here. They have been very helpful to the Common Good food bank in Port Orford and are very community orientated as should be in a small town. read more

Good stop for travel necessities -- except they didn't have bags of popcorn in the chips aisle..... Otherwise -- everything we left at home -- and like the Price and Pride down the street from our house (a few hours north) -- pleasant people running a medium-sized grocery in a medium-sized town! Just what you expect. read more

It has the essentials recently priced. They don't seem to be it to rio of the visitors which I appreciate. Was missing a few things I personally like but overall well stocked. read more

Great selection and customer service!! I'd definitely shop here again for beer, ice cream and any other camping essentials for the nearest KOA! read more

Great little market. I appreciate the convenience (the hours are generous) and the wide selection!

Horrible customer service. Cashiers cant count. Be wary of your change!!! Give wrong amount due and argue about money tendered. Employees seem to hate there job!! read more

Price N Pride is a stupid name, that's for sure. What does it mean, anyway? However, there are only two grocery stores in Bandon, and they both offer a decent selection and are decently sized, compared to some other small coastal town grocery stores on Hwy 101. Price N Pride is more for the locals, who don't want to pay 15% to 30% more for the exact same item, brand, size, exactly the same as at Ray's. Ray's Market is a little nicer inside, and I'm sure the tourists find that a plus, and many of the local fussy retired snobs shop at Ray's, as well. Ray's does have some better meats and produce, but you do have to pay through the nose to do your major shopping there. So for us working locals, Price N Pride fills the slot of a decently priced local grocery store. I give them four stars for being a retail establishment in Bandon that doesn't try to completely price gouge you just for being in the silly little town of Bandon, as if that is soooooo special. read more

What an odd name for a grocery store. If changed to "The Price of Pride" it might make one consider a moral lesson. As it is I just walked throughout this cluser-F of a layout wondering what the pride was about. On the plus side it was open until 11 (which surprised me for it being in Bandon), and they did have everything we were looking for (it was just hard to find things). read more

Great market for anything you need while in bandon Oregon. Staff were all very friendly and the store was very neat and clean

Great place to pick up all your food. We visited the supermarket while on our vacation and found everything we needed and then some. The staff was very helpful and I highly recommend to anyone visiting bandon. read more

The selection is pretty good. The store needs a major updating. Customer service can use a little help too. Prices are fair.

Having just moved from a big city I was surprised to find a market that has not only a very good selection of items but where I can also find my vegan and vegetarian foods. McKay's produce is top notch too. I find the employees to always be friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this local market that also offers great prices. read more

I have been shopping here for 20 years. Friendly staff and good prices make it a place I will keep going back to. I do have two suggestions for an even better store though: 1. Be more receptive to suggestions from your loyal customers, 2. More low-fat or healthier selections. I definitely prefer this store to others in town. read more

I always enjoy going into McKay's Market. Bandon is a small town and I always feel welcome at McKay's and I love Bandon.

There are two grocery stores in Bandon OR, one at each end of town. I shop at both and they both have points to recommend them. Price n Pride is usually my first choice. Though it looks to be an older store and is probably a bit smaller, their produce is usually lower priced and definitely fresher. A couple of the reviewers here mentioned the size of the store and one called it "dumpy looking even." I might not have argued with that description a few months ago, but Fall 2012 they revamped the west side of the store, installing tall and modern freezer cases. Still an older store, but it's had a nice face lift. Additional pluses: They usually quickly call for more checkers when there's a line, and for a town that rolls up most of the sidewalks just after sunset, the 11pm closing time is helpful. read more

I haven't been to Price & Pride for years, was I in for a good surprise. I normally shopped at Rays but it has gone down hill and prices outrageous. On this visit Price & Pride was recommended and I was very pleased. Excellent produce dept. and deli. Try their chicken in the deli, delicious. They carry local Oregon eggs and milk. Good meat dept. Price on baby back ribs was $8 less then Rays. The produce dept. is nicely laid out, good selection or organic. Everything looked very fresh. On my shopping trip I found everything I needed plus. Very friendly staff and good service. Read a review that complained about the checkers being to friendly and talking to the locals. Slow down people and enjoy the friendliness this is a small town at it's best. read more

This store offers some of the friendliest customer service around. I have lived in Bandon for ten years and always found the lowest prices and the most courteous workers here. As one man mentioned earlier they do not have a large variety. That's because the store is located in Bandon, a city with a population of only 3055. Also, as of last week, they put in new, larger freezers, as well as some new grocery carts and the place is looking amazing. read more
