A reasonably good grocery store for a small rural town in Oregon, but still missing many things I'm looking for. For example, I was looking for tzatziki, and no store employee I talked to even knew what it is. That said, you can get almost anything you need there, just not everything you want. The produce department is small, but reasonably well stocked. The butcher counter has almost everything you might seek, but you won't find the normal coolers filled with prepackaged meat and poultry (that's not necessarily bad, just unusual). They have a good selection of many items, and very few of some others. One complaint: It's clear that many of the items are stocked by distributors, not store employees, so different brands of the same item are often not found together -- which makes comparing what's available a pain in the tail -- not cool. That means you can search all over, not find exactly what you're looking for, settle for something less than ideal, only to find the similar item which is what you really wanted later in a different location. Argh!! My experience in Bandon is that I have to go to both McKay's and Ray's in order to get the things I need on any given grocery run -- there's always something that one store doesn't have, that I hope the other does. read more

It's a market that sells most of the stuff, but they didn't have a couple of the essentials I NEEDED! It was very well stocked store, everything you'd expect in a large supermarket. We found what we needed for dinner, including a Rotisserie chicken. This is a review on the Rotisserie chicken: I wanted crispy chicken, not greasy unhealthy chicken, that something we can snack on or have for lunch, while in the car, on our way home. We put it back in the oven, & re-roasted it for another 20 minutes. It still not cooked enough, the leg was bleeding! I ate just the wing. Hubby froze the chicken, and when we drove back home 8 hours later (with ice pack in our cooler), the chicken was still very cold. We put the chicken in the toaster oven, and broiled the remaining pieces for 15 mins. and only then, the chicken became BETTER, FINGER-LICKING GOOD, and perfectly done - crispy how we like it! read more

I buy their ready made Turkey deli sandwiches frequently. on 3/1/24 I got a package with two sandwiches in soft round buns. it was very good. The Turkey and cheese portions were very generous, and the condiments were spread on the bun. On 3/4/23 I again bought a sandwich, on a long white bun cut in half. There was only a small portion of deli turkey and maybe one slice of cheese, and the mayonaise and mustard were in packets instead of on the sandwich like the ones on 3/1. I could not tear them open. The bread was dry and there was more of the tasteless bread than fillings. I much prefer the sandwiches on the soft round buns....this is the 3rd time fi have had these rather than the dry white thick bread roils. just my feedback. I don't know if you make the sandwiches in house or they're made off-site. I do not like the plastic containers they are sold in; they are very detrimental to our landfills, and could be wrapped in plastic wrap instead. read more

Based on their high prices they could at least pack your bags. They weren't busy. Not impressed.

Sad... expensive... Ray's seems sad. Can't really put my finger on it. Kinda like an inner city market stuck in the 80's. Any way I went for 3 items. Crackers, cheese & Ice cream. All three items were 2 to 3 dollars more per item than the other grocery store in town! Make your own decision. read more

We came upon Ray's Food Place (grocery/market) while we were vacationing in Winchester Bay. We had driven to Bandon for the day, & at this point in our trip, we'd eaten out a LOT. We saw Ray's (what we call a 'Mom & Pop' grocery store), & decided to get some steaks to BBQ for dinner. OMG...the meat counter in this store is a hidden gem for sure!! Everything looked impeccable!! ALL of it!! We purchased 2 steaks...a NY & a Filet...& let me tell you...they both were like 'buttah'!! They were by far the best steaks we've had from a grocery store ever!! My husband talked about those steaks all week!! And we're in agreement...the next time we travel to Winchester Bay...we're definitely driving to Bandon to Ray's to spoil ourselves with their delicious steaks again!! We've shopped here off and on for nearly 30 years. Rays lost our business yesterday due to how my husband was treated. My husband is medically exempt on two counts actually from wearing a mask. Even the executive order says DO NOT DENY business to those with medical exemptions. They did. He was headed to checkout with groceries and was asked to leave. Apparently curbside is their alternative, however this wasn't mentioned to him and there wasn't anyone at the entrance to let him know this. Never again Rays... you lost our business and that of many others for life. I'll never set foot in any of your stores again. ADA claims are being filed against you. read more

All the restaurants in town were either closed because of Covid (per signs on their doors) or were testing fate (given that none of their employees were wearing masks). We tried ordering food to go, but none of the open restaurants would answer their phones. So, Ray's to the rescue! The staff were all masked, polite, and very helpful. We got some salads for dinner, and yogurts and fruit for breakfast - and the store was clean, well organized, and well stocked. Prices seemed reasonable, but honestly we would have paid double whatever we paid to go to a shop where the staff adhered to protocols. read more

I love shopping at Rays. The store is clean and when I need help the staff is very accommodating. The butchers have always been very happy and helpful no matter what I'm buying or not buying. The produce, abundant and a nice quality. Even though I live in another town I prefer to drive a little more and shop at Rays. read more

I am seriously always so disappointed every time I go to this grocery store. Everything is extremely over priced and the customer service is very poor and unwelcoming. I'll always choose McKay's over Rays. read more

Pat and the team are awesome. I order online regularly and they always call me with any changes. It's hard to think of any other grocery store that's been so friendly. The available food options are pretty good and everything's been fresh. I do wish they had more organic, but they have some which is nice. read more

I am finding in the " Traditional Stores" there still is not alot of Natural Food selections. My daughter was diagnosed with Food Allergies a few years ago and it was and continues to be extremely hard. We own a cranberry farm in Bandon and I have made many all natural products with our Cranberries. I am developing a food line, all natural and some sweetened with Oganic Agave. I will be sending them to stores to try and get them stocked on the shelves to help with the same comment you just made. read more

This store is a bit sad. We went in looking for something, almost anything "organic" and came away with very little. Would be nice to see a store that carried items that were healthy instead of just loaded with processed foods. I know this is a small town, but they can do better, and I will hope they do. read more

I was told Ray's was one of 2 "full service" grocery stores in Bandon. I did not find it to be that. Somewhat adequate, decent wine selection, but their produce, deli, meats, and seafood were sub par. I'll try elsewhere next time. read more

If you are visiting Bandon do not do your shopping at Ray's Market! Things have really changed at that store. Prices are outrageous. Example small jar of Best Foods Mayo $5.99. Go Over to Price & Pride and it's $3.99 for a large jar. The man in the deli is highly rude. Checkers seemed bored. 6pm on a weekend and the store was empty. I can see why. On a good note they have a good meat dept. and nice butchers. Pass by the store and head for Price & Pride. Very nice store and friendly people. The service here sucks. They act like they're doing you a big favor just by having you be in their prescence, let alone ringing up merchandise for you. Very highly unprofessional staff and extremely poor customer service. These people are lucky to have a job and perhaps need to know what it's like to be without income for a while -- maybe then they would appreciate customers more -- the ones who pay for their paycheck. read more

Rays is great small town store. Friendly people and a wide selection of food. We spent a week in Bandon the last week of April 2013. We loved the roast tri tip and the rotisserie chicken. But get them early, they sell out. They also have DVDs for rent. We highly recommend Rays to visitors to Bandon. read more
