Most of the cashiers are friendly! However, the management is unprofessional, rude, and shouldn't be in charge! She retaliates for going to corporate even though it's against the law! She also gossips about the employees to the other co workers and it gets back to the employees by customers. If an employee, god forbids makes a mistake when they are new, she will scream at them in front of customers in their line and co workers! There are MANY complaints against her. Don't understand why she is running a store when corporate knows about this! I wouldn't shop there but it's less expensive than Ray's and we don't have much options! read more

Great little town grocery store. It has a pretty fair selection for a store so small. when you walk in, there are your seasonal goods (oh the flowers in the spring are quite magnificent), and a typical grocery store layout. The items in the bakery are fresh, and the staff is extremely helpful, even if you're just an out-of-towner stopping by to fill up your hotel room for the week. There were so many checkers that the lines were short and everything was better than I could've ever hoped. Also? Extra points for a grocery store that has an entire aisle dedicated to just boxed wine. Don't get me wrong, they have other adult beverages too, but I was actually impressed that the aisle of boxed wine is the first thing you see when you go into the one set of doors. Althought the selection isn't nearly as huge as a typical large super market but it will more than do for being in a small town. Their deli food is awesome as are their selection of drinks. Nice people. Alot of organic and local products. Definitely one of my fav supermarkets of all time. read more

This place deserves 5 stars now since they are completely remodeling the store and adding better options for the organic consious minded. No need to go to Fred Meyers in Brookings as much now that this store has greatly improved. I also love that it open 24 hrs. read more

Hidden treasure in Gold Beach! This gem of a grocery is open 24/7 and even had extended holiday hours on Thanksgiving day when I visited for a treehouse weekend! Convenient location off US101. Great selection of beer, snacks, as well as fresh veggies, essentials, and baked goods. The employees were very friendly and helpful. I'd definitely stop by again. read more

Oops... Spoke too soon. I paid $17 for a quarter turkey breast... Didnt notice til i got home.. Coulda bought the whole turkey. Also.. Chips were marked 2 for $4... Bought one and paid $4.29. You gotta watch the sneaky scam marketing and check your receipt before you step out the door of this place. They will get ya.. I'm surprised a town like Gold Beach can support two grocery stores, not to mention they are within a block of each other. This grocery store seemed to have more 'specialty" brands. However, I still forgot to check on whether they had my specialty brand of laundry soap. I picked up a few things. As another reviewer mentioned, I asked for help from one employee and experienced the "turn away quickly as if they didn't hear you" thing, but I managed to get their attention enough to help me find a product I needed. Haven't tried the meat, as another reviewer raved about, but if I need meat, I will try this place based on the previous rave review. OK, well I knew right away we would be going to Brookings to do the bulk of our shopping after my first trip to Mcay's. The selection is decent but the prices are very high. The organic and healthy section is very small and limited. The prices on meat, poultry and seafood were very high compared to Fred Myers. So if I need a gallon of milk this is the place, but when we do our main grocery shopping we will be driving to Brookings read more

We are big fans of McKays market. When they do the "meat bonanza" the prices can't be beat! Milk prices are a little high, but again, if you shop sales, you'll get what you need and stay on budget. A really nice feature is the product demonstration and community involvement. They take good care of their customers and this town. read more

My wife and I were vacationing in central OR and decided to take the more scenic coastal route home. We were getting hungry for lunch when we saw McKay's had a deli. We walked to the deli and ordered our sandwiches. While we waited for our sandwiches to be made, we walked back to the meat counter. There were excellent cuts of beef with perfect marbling and incredible finger feel. If we had a way to keep them cold on ur way home, we would have bought some then and there. This was some of the most beautiful meat I have ever seen.. We walked back to the deli and picked up our sandwiches. The bread was light and soft, the veggies were crisp, and the meat and cheese incredible. read more

I heard from a patient that McKays had the best meat in town. I drove up the coast today and on our way back down I stopped in for their famous Meat bonanza and got almost a side of beef, cut to order at a reasonable price. The butcher department was very friendly and helpful and had great prices on most their meat products. In the deli they give the kids a free jo-jo and not the traditional get the kids hyper while shopping chemical cookies. At check out it took a while.... the clerk told me they still have dial up for their ATM at the cash register. Very nice small town market. read more

For a small town store the general attitude of the checkers is unhappy and unfriendly. After several visits and at least 4 different checkers, i have decided to shop elsewhere. They all give you the feeling that you are lucky they are there. I dont know if it is poor wages or working conditions that create this attitude? Perhaps they should find another line of work. On the upside, the produce is nicer than expected and others working on stocking product are friendly in general. I wonder if the management understands how the impact of the final person you see before leaving affects their return business. read more

Great 24hour store. At 10pm I arrived in Gold Beach, hungry and tired. I was able to get a fresh deli sandwich and microwave meal for my hotel. Reasonable prices, and everyone who worked here was very nice. read more
