Chucks Seafood charged $55.12 to ship 12 cans of tuna back east ! I specifically asked for shipment to be sent Flat Rate @ $22.75.. asking for invoice & tracking information to be sent via email .. Without disclosing their additional charges of "Special Fees " $15.25 - Fuel Charges" $10.62 - Package Charge $ 29.92 they charged my card without my authorization. Note: Mandatory Disclosure ( ORS 646A. 093) Failure to disclose handling and shipping charges is considered an unlawful business practice under Oregon law. Charges must be disclosed " during the sales transaction" meaning before the customer finalizes the purchase .. I have repeatedly asked for a credit to be issued for the over charge, to no avail. According to reviews , it appears this is a deceptive policy they continue to practice.. one customer was charged $24.02 for shipping on $ 20.40 ( 3 cans of tuna) .. not happy campers!! These guys have the best fresh fish around. Salmon filets, steelhead, fresh and smoked, oysters, canned clams, you name it. Don't be put off if they're a little grumpy at 5:25pm just before they close and get absolutely slammed by people trying to get that last bit of salmon for the weekend (I won't admit to that but it may sound familiar). Every time we stay in Coos Bay this is my go to fish market. Parking is a bit jumbled but to be expected when you are in a coastal town. Chucks has fresh lump crab meat and it's delicious. they make smoked salmon rolls and other smoked fish and it's fresh and tasty. read more

Great canned fish. Abysmal customer service. We are long term customers and placed a big order which included a case of tuna. They shipped a can instead. No biggie. Except after three unreturned phone calls, an unreturned email, and an unanswered Facebook message, when I finally got someone on the phone, she accused me of "trying to get free fish out of them." Last minute trip here on New Year's Eve for some beautiful shrimp (Mexican shrimp) and bay scallops and the service was so prompt and informative. I made a fabulous dinner (if I do say so myself)...with scallops in a cream sauce with orzo pasta. The shrimp were so large and firm, it tasted like lobster. This is some special stuff...nothing mind blowing exactly, but attention to detail across the board that adds up to chowder perfection (small diced potatoes, clean diced clams, no single overwhelming spice or herb, but the exact right amount to remain interesting and different). Later on, memorial day weekend 2109, we are back camping and stopped at Chuck's Seafood twice. We got some salmon steaks and rockfish fillets. The salmon was fresh and delicious. Called in an order for 3 cans of their smoked chinook salmon, 3 oz can. Grump on the phone had no idea of shipping charges and said someone would call me. No one called..... and the 3 cans arrived later. It was good. Problem is the shipping turned out to be $24.02 for the 3 cans which sold for $20.40. Ordinary USPS, not overnight or rush. I am not going to contest with my credit card company. I hope than anyone reading this will ask about shipping.....before the sale is final. Chuck's sits calmly on a corner after you cross over the bridge at quaint little Charleston. Surrounded by fishing boats and oyster trailings, this little seafood market was closing just as we walked in. Oysters here were much cheaper than some other stops we had made that day, but, unlucky for us, we still had many miles/days to travel and a motel stop for the night. And, besides, a spoiling oyster is not a good traveling companion. So, other than appreciating the freshness of it all, we could do nothing. So I settled for a shrimp cocktail to go, $3.95. I had no idea until he smiled and handed it to me that I was getting enough shrimp cocktail to feed a family of four. That is putting it mildly. It had to be well over a half pound of baby shrimp, and the cocktail sauce, well let's say it was finger licken good. Chucks apparently specializes in smoked fish as well, but we had a trunkful of carefully packaged smoked fish from Washington, so I can only imagine. I wished I had a video camera. Ten in the morning and a Japanese family of six was eating oysters as if there were no tomorrow. Dad had the shucking knife and was shucking the oysters out as fast as he could on the small oilcloth covered table. The kids were wolfing them down. I know they had had at least two dozen and they were still eating when I left. But that's what tourism is all about. Get down, get dirty, get into it. Now I gotta tell you I'm a tuna lover. So when I hit Charleston and saw tuna offered for everthing from $2.50 a pound and up, I knew I wasn't leaving Charleston withiout tuna. I had hit several markets and I think the $2.50 price was for whole tuna. Several markets had loins, filleted out, and Chucks had the best looking Albecore loins in town at $6.50. The woman at the counter was incredibly helpful and got a styrafoam box and ice and packed my fish for me. The ice held it for the fourteen hour trip home. I'd buy again. As other Yelpers say this is a Market, not a restaurant. read more

And when I ask the manager when they are going to get some in she just says "we don't have smoked oysters" and when I ask "ok I get that when will you get more" she just repeats herself. read more

This place is a cute little tourist gift shop and fish deli. In the mood for fresh Albacore Tuna? How about some fresh Chinook Salmon? I'm talkin about...right out of the ocean, into the boat, off the boat, then into Chuck's shop. Fresh or canned, Smoked or seasoned... Chuck has it. Very clean and neat. Service is friendly. And... don't worry about the canned tuna..it's not like the kitty cat tuna you eat from a starkist tuna can... This tuna tastes like chicken. No fishy taste AT ALL!
