When you're headed out of town nothing was better than getting food from the case and a cold drink and maybe some ice cream Ashworth's but you know what their employees have been not as friendly as they used to the case for the hot food is way overpriced and is super greasy and I asked use the restroom if you did you never eat there again where they make a chicken and Mojoes there's batter up and down the bathroom walls it is filthy filthy dirty also went to get an ice cream the girl didn't even wash your hands from prepping chicken and then walking over to the case then she scratched her leg a bare leg and then went to scoop ice cream no thank you I would not recommend. Sad because it used to be a great place. Use some heavy scrubbing. read more

Went in to audit their beverages which would just take about 5 minutes and first of all the place is gross. It felt I was in a grimy run down convenience shop with sticky floors and rats lurking. I'm just being honest. Second, they have their crap just laying around, I had to move their shop vacuum just to get into the first cooler I was taking a picture of. By about the 3rd cooler, the manager instantly starts reaming me and threatening to call the cops if I don't leave his store NOW. So I told him what I was doing and offered him a letter of authorization and that the audit would help his business and the companies who's products I'm taking pictures of, but he just completely interrupted me and said he doesn't give a shit. To which I replied- cool, you don't give a shit about your business? And he said "yup." So I started walking out as he was continuing to threaten to call the cops and on my way out the door one of their what seemed to be regulars threatened to "kick my ass." So quite honestly, it's a trash business and I will never support such a shitty trap-like establishment. You don't treat customers like that and you definitely don't treat an auditor like that. Now they get a shit review when they could have got a good review and more business. read more

This has always be a focal point and stop when visiting the Bay Area! Our family loves their chicken and mojos. We recently moved back to north bend and I decided to treat our family to chicken strips and mojos. Sadly as I viewed the hot case there were few mojos when I asked the cashier if more could be cooked he told me he had to sale what was there first. I let him know I planed on buying two pounds and some chicken as I didn't wanna cook dinner. He went to what I assume was talk to the manager and returned to say that what was in the case would have to do that it was probably a pound. I am a little disappointed at the customer service I received. I didn't have a mean word or any negative comments told the young man have a good night and no worries but it's a bummer that customers can't requested more product if they are willing to wait and pay for it. read more

Ashworth's Market has been open since 1939. The Ashworth family used to also have a little cafe on the north side of the building and it has since been absorbed into the main market. When they sold it to a new owner, this neighborhood store was stagnating along with several other neighborhood markets as 7-Elevens were taking over that role but the new owner went to work to figure out how to set up his store better. He succeeded! As time went along he further refined what would be stocked and where it would be placed. The 7-Eleven presence shrank in the CB-NB area while Ashworth's, now cleaned up and repainted, went on to gather more renown and profits than ever before! Fried chicken and mojos...oh my they're good! Check out the humongous turnovers in the bakery case too. Need something to wash it down? The soda pop selection is outstanding and eclectic. Add in fresh meats, great ice cream and all the usual gotta-haves. Ashworth's Market, started before World War II and going so strong that it will take World War III to have a chance to finish it off...LOL! read more

From the outside, this rough looking, in the hood type spot looks uninviting. But you kind of have to be a local to know what's up with this place. Ashworth's has been "the last stop" on the 101 north commute for a long time. Meaning, lets get our drinks or snacks for the road here, instead of stopping in Reedspit or the other sad ass towns along the way. They have a large hot food display that I have never encountered as being stale or old. Always fresh...not used to that. As Franny mentioned, they have a large selection of Umpqua Ice cream as well. This is the only place I know of that actually sells Black Licorice ice cream. They also have a surprisingly decent beer selection. Which is nice, another reason I go here Vs Chevron or 7-11. The place does look rough, but they have fresh food, a wide variety, fair prices, and friendly service. read more

It seems that in the last 5 years, this companies owner, and day staff have turned rude. One would think that during the most difficult times that we are living in right now, with covid, the basic great depression of our time that business owners... Like Jim Brown here, would be a bit more compassionate and understanding when it comes to being kind to those who are kind. Recent situation that occurred was last evening, to put an example. I remember way back when I had car trouble at that store when purchasing over $20 of goods, because I prefer to buy from local rather than corporations to make sure that our people get the financial help that they deserve to keep running their businesses. Just picked up a vehicle, it died in their parking lot after I had made my purchase, I asked for permission to have 24 hrs or less time to come and pick my vehicle up with my own towing guy and get it fixed. They gave permission and where very kind... the night shift. To my discouragement, Jim, evidently making a dime off of the $150 I had to pay the towing company (who was very very pleasant, very understanding, very helpful and was able to lower the price to bond my car out) thought it was a great idea to have my vehicle towed at 10am while I was at work. My towing guy called me around 11am today, on the 15th of Feb, 2021... and notified me that my vehicle wasn't at ashworths. The phone conversation between ashworths manager and I... She was basically rude about it all and I'd bet bottom dollar that Jim doesn't give two shits about it because he just earned a commission from a loyal customers misery that he caused. This was totally unacceptable, unprofessional, definitely avoidable because I keep my word especially when it comes to my transportation. This store has lost not only my business and Jim lost my respect and the type of trust that I have had in supporting a "good man's " business! I know, because his manager told me, that he will not even bat an eye lash at the issues that he caused when there was no issue to begin with. The manager is also writing up the night staff that was nothing but kind, understanding and compassionate for giving me permission to store the car there for up to but not exceeding 24 hrs. Writing them up as to punish the night staff for being good human beings to another good human being. Talk about a bogus and shabby attitude that ashworths management and owner have now days. They should all be fired and replaced by their night staff who are polite! Those ladies working the night shift should not be punished for being kind! Shame on you Ashworths Manager and owner for your indecency, rudeness and pretty much cruel acts that you run the store with now. Six, Ten, twenty years ago, that store was the best and now... We have made it a tradition on our family vacations to stop by Ashworth's to get ice cream. The portions and prices have always been some of the best. We visited today and a single scoop (on the smaller side) was $3.75. The ice cream was freezer burned and the sugar cones were hard as a rock. We used to love coming to Ashworth's, but today ruined our experience for the future years to come. read more

While I don't like risking my life to pull into the parking lot - it's pretty scary - it's always worth it, once inside. YUM! Don't go in when you've got the munchies though - they have entirely too many goodies to resist. I'm not even sure why I was thinking of Ashworth's this afternoon, It was 57 years ago that we would stop there on the way to Hauser where I was living at the time. Mostly we would stop for ice cream or other snacks, and I remember that it was one of those old neighborhood markets with a wooden floor and that .. neighborhood market smell (yep even as I kid I recognized that smell and old fashioned neighborhood store style. There was a man . he seemed old to my little boy eyes .. who often played the organ that was sitting in the front of the store. So great to see that Ashworth's is still there, and I hope still creating memories for years to come. read more

This market serves their local Umpqua ice cream -- some of the best ice cream I've had. And they don't skimp on the scoops. Last time I couldn't resist getting three flavors: peppermint (my all-time favorite), black licorice and rootbeer. I was heavenly stuffed afterward, and it was worth every bite. Very nice staff. Stopped today as i have regularly for the last ten years. ordered the mojo potato's as usual, but when i went to pay for them i noticed that it was more money than i expected. when i questioned it i got nothing but attitude, and when i pointed out that the price on their sign said 3.50 a pound and i had been charged 4.50, was told the price and changed yesterday, but they didn't have time to change the sign. feel ripped off. read more

Had really bad food poisoning after eating there I was sick for 4 days. Leaky bottom, chills, cramps, and a pain in my abdomen that was awful. Next time I was there (not for food of course) I looked around at the filth, the place looks full of cross contamination.. Employees don't wear gloves, hair nets or hats. I have never seen one wash their hand before the get food out of the hot case right after touching dirty money, they do use tongs but if they are slack enough to not handle food properly do you think the don't use their fingers? Gross! Also customer service has gotten really bad. They have really long lines because a register is broke fix the dam thing. The employees are nice but only as good as the tools they are given. I was ignored as they were checking me out the employees were talking to friends and we sat there for around 20 minutes waiting as she slowly checked us out and was talking we were the only people in the store it's very bad service would not recommend it. Very disappointed! read more
