Update So 2 years later I finally have this installed correctly. McKay did not install some small parts in water line, in addition to all the rest of the mess they created. Our furnace went out on December 23. Called around. Big names came out for the sales pitch. Some were very high cost and couldn't come out for more than a month. My 103 year old mother lives with me and we needed help right away. JD at McKay had responded to my Yelp plea near-instantly, the first when others took a day or two to respond. He was already in favor. Not only was his bid much more reasonable, he said he would come out over the New Years holiday and get the heat back on for us. The next closest appointment available by the big names was 1/16. It snowed heavily New Years weekend and we sent them off the first afternoon knowing they would be challenged on the snowy and icy roads. They came first thing the next day, the New Years holiday, Monday 1/2/23, and worked hard all day long. At 5:30p the system fired up and we were out of our desperation. JD is a great communicator. Last week it became apparent that we would need to replace our 29 year old gas furnace so using " Angi " we came up with 3 companies to call for inspect and quotes. My grandmothers AC stopped working and she was referred to McKay, but we have yet to see a technician as the first attempt he told us he was coming from Reno when he actually was about to pull up at my grandmothers house in Dayton. My husband went over to her house to wait for him for almost 2 hours and we never once got a call that he was actually at the property, all he did was leave a card at the door. My grandmother called to reschedule, he said he would be here this morning at 7am..... he must be really lost this time because he has yet to show up. Terrible customer service and pretty sure my husband who is not licensed to work on AC units fixed the problem so thanks for nothing. 10/10 would not recommend, regardless of the job he could of done he doesn't even show up when he says he will! read more

JD is a very professional and caring tradesman. We had issues with our furnace. The burners would shut off and just the fan would work. After 2 visits the problem seemed to be resolved as not a malfunctioning furnace. But it turned out the ecobee thermostat was defective. After a very cold night when the house temp reached 52° JD responded at 7:30 am and swapped our old thermostat for us. You can trust a guy who is empathetic to our basic needs. And knows his stuff. JD at a point could have, like some others, BS'd us into a $5,000 to $12,000 furnace replacement. That's JD. read more

DO NOT USE!! Not a licensed HVAC contractor. In fact failed his HVAC test for Nevada. His license is expired in California. He is a scam artist and I have the Nevada contractors Board investigating him as well as complaints with the Reno Building dept about him and his company. He sends unqualified and unskilled people to your house that look like they were just released from county. That's putting it nicely. He won't respond to you if there is a problem and he won't provide you with written estimates or invoices because he is not licensed. Call the contractors board and look him up. They even told me not to use him and they told me he failed his HVAC test for Nevada. There is a reason he is the cheapest. I could go on and on but this is enough. I am seeking further action against him so he won't be able to scam anyone else. I do not take pleasure in trashing someone else or their business but this guy deserves everything coming to him. He is scamming people and I take serious offense to that and I will put a stop to it. read more

John McKay came to fix our furnace, he said the motherboard was bad, so he put in a new one, that didn't work so he said the heat exchange was cracked, without ever seeing it, and told us we needed a new furnace. When we didn't agree with that he left wires hanging and took a part out of our furnace that he had no business taking and left. We had to call a real furnace company to fix it. They stated the heat exchange was not cracked!!! If you need your furnace worked on call someone that actually knows what they are doing. read more
