What made things worse was the staff's reaction. Instead of handling the situation professionally, multiple front desk employees decided to involve themselves in the conversation, laughing, smirking, and making inappropriate comments. It was completely unprofessional and honestly shocking to witness that kind of behavior in a healthcare setting. In any healthcare office, respect and empathy should be the top priorities not mocking patients or brushing off their concerns. I'm genuinely appalled by how we were treated and disappointed that a dental office would allow this kind of behavior from its staff. It took a long time to both seek and to find someone I trust with regards to competency and ethics. Enter Dayton Dental. One visit told me I'd found a home. They were patient and understanding with regards to my teeth and my issues with prior practitioners. I felt welcome, not judged, pressured, or hurried. Their advice was on point. The dental assistants impressed me with their knowledge, too. Even better? Not a word of upselling. In addition, their rate for the extraction I need was over $100 less than another practice I visited. Small practices often lack the flashy tech of larger or private equity-owned profit centers. However, smaller practices often feature dentists who have the time and flexibility to ensure personalized care at a reasonable price and build a solid patient-provider relationship over time. l go with that.
