THE place for an amazing cup of coffee. latte. tea. iced coffee. YUM. Very nice newspaper and book selection, including really nice children's books about Maine. The gelato is other-worldly. Variety of unique souvenirs

Milk & Honey is a great find in Northeast Harbor, you just have to know to look for it. It's tucked…read moreaway behind the Maritime Museum, just off Main Street. It's a breakfast & lunch cafe that values using locally sourced, fresh ingredients. We stopped for lunch and ordered the Vegplant (V) and Bahn Mi (v) sandwiches. The Vegplant had an eggplant spread, roasted vegetables, and tabouleh on focaccia. The vegan Bahn Mi had tofu, pickled vegetables, greens, miso spread, and cilantro on a baguette. Both sandwiches were excellent and we ordered a couple of iced chais--they were house made and among the best in Maine. It's counter service, and the patio seating was just what we were looking for on a warm summer day in June. We went back the next morning for breakfast and found it to be a little trickier--according to the person behind the counter, the only vegan breakfast item was the hash brown. I had the yogurt parfait--it was as it was described on the menu and just okay--I generally prefer fresh fruit--it had a fruit preserve, which was just okay--maybe it needed more. The hash brown was made of shredded potatoes and was what you would expect. Overall, from a vegetarian/vegan perspective this is a solid 5 star lunch spot, and I love what they're doing here. I just wish they had a vegan option for breakfast.

They were fine, not the freshest bagels I've had, but they had a good amount of cream cheese, just okay overall. The croissant was large and nicely toasted, likely not baked in-house (gave off Costco croissant vibes), but it came with a really tasty berry spread. The blueberry scone, however, wasn't great. Not a fan of the texture or flavor on that one. For coffee, I tried the dirty chai and a regular drip coffee, both solid and satisfying. But the real showstopper was the lavender latte. I'm obsessed. It was fragrant, smooth, and perfectly balanced. Easily my favorite part of the visit. I also had the BLT sandwich and the smoked salmon tartine. Both were delicious. You could tell the same ingredients (pickles, veggies, capers) were used across multiple items, but it still worked well and tasted fresh. Lastly, I ordered the Dutch baby pancake. The presentation was lovely, and it was freshly made, but the flavor was just okay, I've had better. The overall experience was really fun. People around us were checking out my food and even asked for recommendations. The staff also acknowledged our spread, which made it feel even more welcoming.

I don't really go for the egg breakfasts, so my savory options were limited. However, the sweet side of things suited my tastes. When I ordered a Dutch baby oven pancake, they asked if I wanted it plain, which I was a tad insulted by. Who goes to Maine and doesn't get the blueberries? The blueberries were not fresh but instead came preserved in syrupy form with some other fruit and maple syrup on the side. This excess of flavor was a fine vacation indulgence for me. Their interpretation of a London Fog was also quite sweet, which I didn't expect and didn't really need. Thus, I didn't go for any pastries, but I have to say they looked nice.
