The whiskey sour was tasty & strong and the Guinness was smooth and perfectly chilled. I had been tentative to have lamb but we finally ordered it and wow was it the most tender and flavorful cut of meat. The sides and gravy were grand. I wish I had had my dog with me so I could give him the nice bone afterwards haha. We also ordered hot wings and surprisingly they were much better than what one gets in the states. The dessert was good and the bartenders helped us find a cue ball so we could play pool for a while. The atmosphere was nice because it wasn't a bunch of tourists but felt more like real suburby Dublin. We might go back to Ireland just to eat at this restaurant again :)

While we did not order dessert, the selections were broad and looked very tasty. After eating an excellent meal, we discovered the other end of the large restaurant had a full service restaurant, so there was more than cafeteria style available. The servers at the cafeteria line were cheery and fun to watch at work as they expertly served the plates to order and sent them down the line. Even with the large crowd, we had no trouble finding seating.

The authentic Victorian setting, the Victorian mahogany fittings, the mosaic marble tiled floors and granite tabletops, the mahogany bar, capped with red Connemara marble, follows the classic Victorian architectural pattern. The staff are helpful, friendly and patient since their accent is hard to understand sometime. My 1st beer and 1st Irish food, all I can say is what a meal, just simple delish. Being here is just a wondrous experience, the place is cosy, warm and the friendly of the people. So glad I picked this place as my first of Dublin.

Tucked down Dame Court just off Dame Street, The Stag's Head is one of those rare pubs that feels genuinely historic rather than designed to look old. The building dates to the late 1800s, and the interior retains the ornate features of a classic Victorian "gin palace"--rich carved wood, stained glass, brass rails, and a warm, glowing bar that feels wonderfully preserved. We stopped in around 4:30 pm, which turned out to be a perfect time to visit. There were other patrons enjoying drinks and food, but the atmosphere was calm and relaxed rather than loud or rowdy. It felt like the kind of place where locals drop in for a quiet pint on their way home from work before the evening crowd arrives. The staff were excellent--friendly, welcoming, and attentive without being intrusive. The food was very good (we failed to take photos because we were too busy enjoying it). As a vegetarian, I was thrilled to see the Impossible burger front and center on their menu; it was deliciously prepared with guacamole on a brioche bun, and not an afterthought on the menu. My companions both chose the Irish Beef Burger, and said it was excellent. One thing to know: this is a traditional Victorian pub, so cocktails aren't really part of the program. Expect beer, wine, or spirits rather than mixed drinks. In a place like this, that actually feels exactly right. Other pubs do serve mixed drinks. Between the history, the ambience, the quality of the food, and the wonderful staff, The Stag's Head is the kind of place that makes you feel like you've experienced a real piece of Dublin.

There's a lot to choose from, so much so that I actually didn't know what to choose! I ended up going for the hamburger chips and a drink for €7. The hamburger was ok- the toppings were kind of thrown on it & I wasn't crazy about the meat.. It tasted more like pork than beef. The bap was nice and fresh and the chunky chips were really tasty. I'd definitely get the chips again with chicken wings or a sandwich next time. My mam got a chilli that came with rice. For €6 you really couldn't fall out with it. It was a bit plain appearance wise and wouldn't have done any harm to serve it with a couple of nachos just to dress it up a bit but my mam was happy enough. The staff were extremely warm and welcoming which was really nice. The place itself has a food area and then an area that's more like the bar part. There's about 3 30-40 inch screens around the place and one of those big projector style screens so I'd say this place would be a great spot to watch a match. I plan a trip back here when there is a match on and I think I'll get one of their baskets. I'll update my review then. Would recommend.

Now that takes some beating. McEvoys is one of those places that is just made for one of those ultra-rare-not-a-cloud-in-the-sky days. Set right on the canal just outside of Celbridge is this gorgeous pub. Full of walkers who have come along the canal on a stroll with their dogs plus lots of locals and even some lucky houseboat owners. The mood is always friendly and jovial, with an atmosphere that's second to none. Here you will find: - A pre-pint walk along the canal - A load of benches with a view of the boats and the water - A super cosy and comfy bar inside if it gets a tad chilly in the evening (you know it will!) - A great pint of the black stuff - A dog friendly bar To be honest, whether it's raining or shining, I'd still recommend this spot. Gwan the outskirts!

It's basically a fancy sandwich bar! The menu has about 25 sandwiches to choose from and only about 10 mains!
