Part of tour group going around Ireland, we stopped into McGann's Pub for lunch. All-in-all, it was good! On a Sunday, around 1:30pm, a coach bus of us came. The inside is a traditional pub with a dark, cozy interior with plenty of booths. The menus were dropped off at the table but we all were ordering the same thing - Fish & Chips served with a side of coleslaw. I was able to pay at the bar before my lunch arrived, so that was cool. The fish was fried perfectly and was very crispy! The chips were delicious and looked like French Fries that looked like they were cupped out, I hadn't seen that before. I loved their tartar sauce with the hint of dill and the coleslaw was fresh and very good. All-in-all, a good and speedy experience at McGann's Pub. If I were in Ireland again and passing by here, I'd have no issue coming back and grabbing fish & chips.

Incredible, comforting food in a classic Irish pub setting. This place is the real deal. I had the privilege of visiting McGann's during a group tour headed for the Cliffs of Moher. Our driver recommended the spot and clearly, this is a fan favorite amongst other tour groups since several buses were arriving and departing during our short stop. The service is fast, fast, fast. You order your food with the server and order drinks at the bar and pay for your tab at the bar, too. I enjoyed a lovely hot toddy and a generous serving of Irish beef stew. Food came out quickly and piping hot. The beef stew was full of flavor over a bed of fluffy mashed potatoes. Everyone working here is super friendly despite the seemingly constant rush of tourists. You gotta hand it to them for running a tight ship amongst so much hustle and bustle. The bathrooms were clean as well which is a plus since it was quite the journey from Galway to Cliffs of Moher and this served as the perfect halfway point. I'd love to come back and spend more time in Doolin next time around.

Great Irish pub in Doolin. Easy walk from our hotel. Had dinner there twice during our stay. A typical, unassuming pub. Can get crowded with locals and tourists alike. Service was very attentive. We tried the traditional pub food and one special of the day. All was very good. Salmon special was delicious. The kitchen does an excellent job.

Really enjoyed it! We stopped here along the way for our tour to the Cliffs of Moher and I'm glad we did. With our large group, I'm amazed at how quickly they were able to accommodate everyone in the fairly short amount of time before we needed to hit the road again. Not only that, but the food was delicious! I very much enjoyed the fish and chips. Bar service was good as well.

A warm and welcoming pub. They have good local and fresh options, including local cod for their fish and chips. They had some of the very best chips I've had in Ireland and the UK. Very friendly service in an eclectic pub.

We were corralled into this pub on a bus tour after the cliffs. The fish and chips were soggy and tasted like glue. Clearly pre-made and put under a heater or something. Quite offensive. The worst part was 2 meals cost $54. We got tourist trap scammed, but it happens. The people inside were nice though. Just grab a drink if you're passing through, or at the very least, skip the fish and chips.

After a nice visit to the Cliffs of Moher, our tour group stopped here for lunch en route to Galway, and it was not a disappointing meal. In fact, this was probably my favorite fish 'n chips that I had during my entire time in Ireland. The batter is a perfect beer fry, the fish (cod), is the right choice, the tartar sauce has just the right amount of tang, and the chips are delicious. The whole thing is well portioned for the price as well. The service was okay. It looks as if they cater to law enforcement based on all the badges on the wall, and some of the patrons are a bit on the rough side, but the food makes up for it. I also found cellphone service here quite spotty. If you are on a tour, this is a great spot to check out.

Casual spot for a quick meal in Doolin. Came after getting off a ferry at the pier and was super hungry. This place is no nonsense. The staff is nice, they seat you quickly and food comes out fast. Beef stew was super hearty and filling, meat was tender and flavorful. The brown bread was good too. Glad to have found this little spot!

We stopped here on our way back from the Moher Cliffs. I absolutely recommend McGann's. We shared a smoked salmon salad and fish and chips. We also had the Irish stew and a pint. The smoked salmon was the best I have had and the chips were cut in a different way than I have had other places - they were soft and pillowy on the inside and crunchy outside. The service was friendly and prompt and the pub itself was comfortable and inviting.

Bus tour stop for lunch in a small town pub. Super cozy vibes decorated with random items that speak of many travelers passing through over the years. Despite our tour descending with 40 people, they seated everyone, got orders in and food out on table within 15minutes. They obviously do this regularly. We had the stew and the chowder, both came with some bread on the side. Nothing special but hearty and filling.

Like many people, we stopped here on a tour to the Cliffs of Moher. Could not choose a better place. The service was super fast and friendly. The drinks and beers were cold and delicious. The beef stew and smoked salmon salad were great choices and came with fantastic bread. Best of all was the seafood chowder. Definitely get this! Highly recommend!

Coming from the glorious Cliffs of Moher, we were wind-blown, starving, and THIRSTY! McGann's did not disappoint. Tucked away in Doolin, it's fantastic local pub with a warm, cheery fireplace, a fine pour of Guinness, and the best Irish beef stew I've had in Ireland. We were told that some of the finest musicians of traditional Irish music can be found after 9pm, but sadly we couldn't wait that long. If I'm ever in Ireland again, I will gladly return. Slainte! read more

I did not expect to walk into a random pub in Ireland and have some of the best Indian food, but it just happened! €13 for an amazing sample platter of Indian cuisine! Apparently every Thursday is International food night. They go all out too, there's decorations all around and the staff is dressed in Indian attire and live music! I'm seriously enjoying this dining experience. They also have a traditional Irish pub menu, my husband had the stew and said it was perfect. read more

Charming little pub. The ambiance is perfect, with a roaring fire in the hearth and a salty lass behind the bar. The food is a bit on the pricey side, but it's tasty and well portioned. Also, they have multiple Smithwick's on tap. Huzzah! read more

We had a great time at McGann's. We were only in Doolin for one night, and we arrived to the pub a bit on the early side. It was pretty quiet inside, but the staff were friendly, the pints were flowing, and we had our pick of tables. We settled in for some drinks until we got hungry enough for dinner. We may have pressed our luck a little, but the plan was to drink and eat and drink some more while we waited for the live music to begin. We didn't know it would get PACKED. The music started quite a bit later than we anticipated (I think it was 10 pm) so by the time they went on we had already been there for oh, 3 or 4 hours. I wish we had stayed longer (we ducked out mid set), as the music was fantastic I recommend this spot for sure - just be sure to come early-ish to stake out a seat if you're planning to stick around for the music. read more

Some of the best beef stew I have ever had. Also ordered the roast special which was awesome. Arrive early, before 7 for sure because the place gets incredibly busy especially if there is music which started at nine. We found plenty of seating at around 530 or 6, but quickly filled. All of the food looked great read more

Great pub, with TVs to watch your favorite games (watched Dublin v Kerry tonight) really good food - had the Irish stew and chicken parmigiana (yup chix Parma). So good. Great staff, always had a fresh pint, and live music every night. read more

This was the first place we ate during our trip to Ireland and it set the bar pretty high. I had the Famous Beef and Vegetable Stew and my wife had the fish and chips. The meat in the stew was super tender and the broth was bursting with flavor. We chose to eat outside because of how crowded it was inside. Be warned that they stop serving food at 930. read more

Stopped in while staying in Doolin for some pub grub and music. The beef stew was great, fish and chips good too. Of course, lots of good Irish beers on tap. Had dinner and then stayed to hear the band which started at 930pm. They have free wifi so you can stay connected while waiting for the music to start. Place was packed and standing room only by the time the music started so get there early. Some music was trad but some was playing of older popular tunes, which was not as good as the trad music in my opinion. But still a fun venue. Sit at a table with people you don't know and make some new friends! read more

I can't speak about the food because the kitchen was closed by the time I got there (the french fries smelled fantastic), but the atmosphere is great! I had a couple pints of Guinness while listening to the traditional Irish music. The musicians were extremely talented (I don't know how their fingers move so fast), and I'm glad I decided to visit Doolin. It gets really packed so I would suggest going before 9pm to secure a table and/or seat. read more

My wife and I have a great time here even in the off season. They were serving decent food until pretty late for the area. There was a cozy fire and great music starting at about 9:30. Also, poured one of the best pints of Guinness of the trip. read more

This place was a lovely surprise. We stopped in here one night expecting a traditional Irish meal and turns out it was Greek night! There was a set menu with one option. We ended up staying and being blown away. The food was delicious... from the stuffed olives to the moussaka they really nailed it! Even the dessert which was included was phenomenal. Service was superb and even recommended places for us to check out on the remainder of our trip. We took their word for it and they were spot on. I would definitely recommend this place if you're in the doolin area. Regardless of what type of food they have I'm sure that it will be a meal you will remember! read more

Stopped in for lunch as my wife and I drove through Doolin during our honeymoon. Cute place, but was a bit dark. The staff was friendly but it wasn't made very clear that we needed to pay at the bar. We had to awkwardly wait for a check that wasn't coming! Aside from that, the food was good. I had a cheeseburger and it was quite tasty and she had fish and chips. I would definitely stop back for a pint if we make it to Doolin again - hopefully to hear some music! read more

Our large group stopped in for dinner and the food was quite good and we sampled a large variety of it. Everything was fresh and well-seasoned, and the portions were large. Some of the favorites were the fish and chips, beef stew, seafood chowder and spinach/mushroom pie. read more

McGann's Pub is a good spot for lunch, if you're passing through Doolin. My husband and I stopped in after visiting The Cliffs of Moher. Although the food was solid, it was far from the BEST meal we had in Ireland. Fish and chips & burger were A-OK. I'd love to come back again and experience the live music one day. read more

Great Craic! So of the three main pubs in Doolin, this one kind of won me over. As someone who doesn't eat meat, they had quite a few good options (sundried tomatoes and fried brie salad? Yes please!) The guinness was flowing, the nooks/crannies/booths made for great seating options, and the music was contagious. Saw Blackie O'Connell play the uilleann pipes here and the entire bar was full of life and joy. Friendly locals, warm fireplace, and endless fun. I will be back! read more

Absolutely amazing food. Got there a little early but musicians were setting up when we were leaving around 1830. Ordering is done at the bar which is a little different than I'm used to but the staff was friendly. If you have the chance get the lamb shank. read more

While staying in Doolin the night before heading to the Cliffs, we stopped in for dinner on recommendation from the owners at Twin Peaks B&B where we were staying. We could tell the place was filled with local & tourists alike as we stopped several people hugging the bartenders goodbye. The server suggested we sit at a little table that had a cut out that looked through to the full room where the live music would be performed. We shared a bowl of seafood chowder, which means I mostly steal all the potatoes and leave the seafood for my husband. It was very good and came with soda bread and butter. I ordered the wings, thinking they'd be like buffalo wings but they weren't. They were just fried wings served with a bleu cheese like dressing. I could have skipped them. However, my husband's pasta dish was incredible. The music, atmosphere & "craic" was the best we encountered in all of Ireland! read more

This is a great place hidden near to Cliffs of Moher. If you go out to see the cliff, you should try to make it to McGann´s to stay for a night. It is a very old tavern with music every night and a great place if you need to get far away from everything. The town gets really busy in the summer time, so make sure to make reservations. read more

I cannot say enough good things about McGann's! We were on a day tour with Joey to the Cliffs of Moher and stopped here for lunch. The food was great, the fish was so fresh and as I told the woman working there, I don't even like fish but I LOVED this! The atmosphere, the food and the people make this an absolute must if passing through this beautiful small town. read more

Learn the intricacies of navigating an Irish Pub, and McGann's is as good as they come: Order your food and drink at the bar, tell the publican your table number, and that's it; the food is delivered HOT ( a common trait throughout the Republic) the portions are exceptional (by American standards!) and reasonably priced. An added bonus: when the live music starts, the place gets to rockin! I heard what has to be the best Uilleann piper on the PLANET the night that we were there. This is a G-R-E-A-T pub! read more

What a great find-crazy busy but the service was amazing-2 of the hardest working bartenders I've ever seen-they were as much entertainment as anything. We crammed up at the bar among what felt like thousands to order fish & chips-amazingly good and fresh! And a pork sandwich-yummy good, had a few pints and watched a lovely Irish band complete with harp, Celtic drum, banjo and the sweetest Irish voice I've ever heard live-they were great & I regret I didn't get their name. This place in Doolin is my #1 favorite so far and everyone should try it just for fun and great beer & music even if the food weren't awfully darn good! read more

We're from the US & visited Doolin, the Cliffs of Moher & Aran Islands. A local suggested we have dinner and experience authentic Irish music at McGann's. So glad we did! They have the best fish & chips and the music and lively scene made it a fantastic evening. Don't miss it! read more

My wife & I were taking a day tour to the Cliffs with Extreme Ireland Day tours. They stopped by here for lunch. She ordered the vegetarian plate that had the puff pastry & chips. I ordered the Irish Beef Stew. The place was not crowded other than all those on our touring bus. We were slightly put off as we were one of the 1st to order but probably the last to be served in our group - but this happened a few other times during our stay in Ireland so maybe the vegetarian dishes were taking much longer to prepare? I'm not sure. Nonetheless, we enjoyed our meal. The Irish stew was amazing - best I had throughout our stay in Ireland. The stew had great flavor & the beef was tender. I have to say that I've never had finer tasting potatoes than during our 10-day trip in Ireland & this place had some of the best tasting potatoes in the stew - it has amazing texture & flavor without being bland or overpowering. My wife said that her lunch was very enjoyable as well. The table next to us had ordered the fish & chips - the fish was unbattered - it looked so fresh & awesome. I was looking at their food thinking that I should have ordered the fish but once I took a bite of my stew, I quickly forgot. I am still curious how good their fish & chips tasted. Throughout the remainder of our trip, we tried to find another restaurant that served the fish & chips the same way - unbattered but never found it & were sad. The prices were reasonable & the food was delicious. I would recommend. I am not sure how it is at night for dinner. read more

Our food was very good with the Seafood Chowder and the Vegetable Soup standouts for freshness and flavor. It's a shame it was raining all day, I would gladly have explored around the area a little, but, weather and the time constraint was against me.

Antiques all around, there was a trunk for a table in the area we sat at, then they opened a curtain to another room for overflow. We sat at a large table for our group that ventured over for the night. Great ambiance, I can't speak to the service because I didn't go up to the bar to order. We loved the live music and the experience we had with our friends that night.
