Part of tour group going around Ireland, we stopped into McGann's Pub for lunch. All-in-all, it was good! On a Sunday, around 1:30pm, a coach bus of us came. The inside is a traditional pub with a dark, cozy interior with plenty of booths. The menus were dropped off at the table but we all were ordering the same thing - Fish & Chips served with a side of coleslaw. I was able to pay at the bar before my lunch arrived, so that was cool. The fish was fried perfectly and was very crispy! The chips were delicious and looked like French Fries that looked like they were cupped out, I hadn't seen that before. I loved their tartar sauce with the hint of dill and the coleslaw was fresh and very good. All-in-all, a good and speedy experience at McGann's Pub. If I were in Ireland again and passing by here, I'd have no issue coming back and grabbing fish & chips.
Incredible, comforting food in a classic Irish pub setting. This place is the real deal. I had the privilege of visiting McGann's during a group tour headed for the Cliffs of Moher. Our driver recommended the spot and clearly, this is a fan favorite amongst other tour groups since several buses were arriving and departing during our short stop. The service is fast, fast, fast. You order your food with the server and order drinks at the bar and pay for your tab at the bar, too. I enjoyed a lovely hot toddy and a generous serving of Irish beef stew. Food came out quickly and piping hot. The beef stew was full of flavor over a bed of fluffy mashed potatoes. Everyone working here is super friendly despite the seemingly constant rush of tourists. You gotta hand it to them for running a tight ship amongst so much hustle and bustle. The bathrooms were clean as well which is a plus since it was quite the journey from Galway to Cliffs of Moher and this served as the perfect halfway point. I'd love to come back and spend more time in Doolin next time around.
Great Irish pub in Doolin. Easy walk from our hotel. Had dinner there twice during our stay. A typical, unassuming pub. Can get crowded with locals and tourists alike. Service was very attentive. We tried the traditional pub food and one special of the day. All was very good. Salmon special was delicious. The kitchen does an excellent job.
Really enjoyed it! We stopped here along the way for our tour to the Cliffs of Moher and I'm glad we did. With our large group, I'm amazed at how quickly they were able to accommodate everyone in the fairly short amount of time before we needed to hit the road again. Not only that, but the food was delicious! I very much enjoyed the fish and chips. Bar service was good as well.
We were corralled into this pub on a bus tour after the cliffs. The fish and chips were soggy and tasted like glue. Clearly pre-made and put under a heater or something. Quite offensive. The worst part was 2 meals cost $54. We got tourist trap scammed, but it happens. The people inside were nice though. Just grab a drink if you're passing through, or at the very least, skip the fish and chips.
Casual spot for a quick meal in Doolin. Came after getting off a ferry at the pier and was super hungry. This place is no nonsense. The staff is nice, they seat you quickly and food comes out fast. Beef stew was super hearty and filling, meat was tender and flavorful. The brown bread was good too. Glad to have found this little spot!
We stopped here on our way back from the Moher Cliffs. I absolutely recommend McGann's. We shared a smoked salmon salad and fish and chips. We also had the Irish stew and a pint. The smoked salmon was the best I have had and the chips were cut in a different way than I have had other places - they were soft and pillowy on the inside and crunchy outside. The service was friendly and prompt and the pub itself was comfortable and inviting.

In fact, this was probably my favorite fish 'n chips that I had during my entire time in Ireland. The batter is a perfect beer fry, the fish (cod), is the right choice, the tartar sauce has just the right amount of tang, and the chips are delicious. The whole thing is well portioned for the price as well. The service was okay. It looks as if they cater to law enforcement based on all the badges on the wall, and some of the patrons are a bit on the rough side, but the food makes up for it. I also found cellphone service here quite spotty. If you are on a tour, this is a great spot to check out.

Despite our tour descending with 40 people, they seated everyone, got orders in and food out on table within 15minutes. They obviously do this regularly. We had the stew and the chowder, both came with some bread on the side. Nothing special but hearty and filling.
Such a great pub! Top notch service and no joke best tasting meal we have had in Ireland (and we have had a lot of great food this trip). I got fish and chips....and husband got steak that came with the most delicious potatoes and an amazing gravy/sauce. Mine was great but husband's was amazing! My photos were taken after we stared eating so pictures don't do it justice.

If you're looking for a true Irish pub experience in Doolin, this is it. It's a typical, unassuming pub that fills up quickly with both locals and tourists, creating that perfect lively Irish atmosphere. The service was incredibly attentive and welcoming. The fish and chips? Hands down the BEST I've ever had -- perfectly crisp on the outside, flaky and tender inside. And the seafood chowder was beyond words. Rich, flavorful, and packed with seafood. Of course, the beer was fresh and delicious, just as it should be. An awesome, cozy spot that delivers on everything you hope for in a great Irish pub. We'll be back. read more
A true Irish Pub experience, bravo! Our tour guide/ bus driver chose this location for us and gloated on how they have the best fish and chips in all Ireland here, as you can expect I was pretty eager to get on and try them. The fish and chips did not disappoint and the portion size was very generous. If I had to pick a flaw I suppose I would mention the size of the container of the tartar sauce that comes with the meal is very small, about three smears worth. Also, omg, look at the chips! Those are some unique shaped chips, at first I thought they were potato chips that were fried but no, they were French fries that looked like a potato chip. We stopped here after visiting the cliffs of Moher, the restaurant is located in Doolin County, which I believe has a cave you can visit if you want to get some more adventures in after a great meal at a terrific authentic Irish Pub. A warm and welcoming pub. They have good local and fresh options, including local cod for their fish and chips. They had some of the very best chips I've had in Ireland and the UK. Very friendly service in an eclectic pub. read more

Like many people, we stopped here on a tour to the Cliffs of Moher. Could not choose a better place. The service was super fast and friendly. The drinks and beers were cold and delicious. The beef stew and smoked salmon salad were great choices and came with fantastic bread. Best of all was the seafood chowder. Definitely get this! Highly recommend! read more

Our tour bus stopped here. It was crowded, and we had to share a table with another family. The ordering process is a little inefficient. They come to your table to take your order, but you have to order drinks from the pay and pay for everything there. I had the 8 oz. Prime Irish Beef Burger, and it was pretty good. The chips (fries) were very good! All in all, it was a good experience. read more

Stopped by here for lunch while on the way to the Cliffs. Came here around noon and the place was pretty busy. You order food with the waitress and get drinks at the bar. I got a chicken Caesar salad while my friend got the burger. They have water jugs at the front where you can get glasses for yourself. Restrooms are available in the back left hand side. Credit cards and cash accepted. read more

Stopped here on a day trip with our tour group. The staff was friendly and efficient. They got us in, fed, and out in 40 minutes. The food was delicious. We had the seafood chowder, fish and chips, and of course a Guinness. read more

Do yourself a favor and stop here at this pub. The Irish stew is the best I've ever had. Fish and chips are also soooo good and unique. The cheesecake and brownie are also to die for. Food came very fast. read more
Who knew that an unassuming pub in the middle of nowhere would turn out to have my favorite meal I had in all of Ireland? This fact absolutely blew my mind. In America, when someone says "pub food" we think of greasy fries and burgers and cheap beer. While that can be the case with some places in Ireland, McGann's is next level pub food. My friend and I both were met with friendly service and were seated. We ordered the curry and rice with chips. The curry was in-cred-ible. The depth of flavor and the thick consistency was so comforting in the cold weather. We washed down the food with a couple of Smithwicks and it was great. Since we were visiting in Winter there was not any live music. This was a bummer but we still had a great meal and we enjoyed the atmosphere and the friendly staff. We were glad we worked up an appetite since we wanted to eat every last bite of this meal. McGann's I'm coming for you next time I'm in Ireland! read more
McGann's does an amazing job with the amount of volume they do. There must have been two full tour buses and a number of private tours visiting when I was there so I had to park up the road in front of the pub. Still with a full house, I managed to get a table and my order of fish and chips in 10 - 15 minutes. Fish is delicious and I liked the side of coleslaw along with the fries. Just a perfect crispy batter that goes well with the malt vinegar. Credit card payment had to be made at the bar. read more

Your quintessential Irish Pub! Our tour bus with 38 hungry passengers stopped here for lunch. McGanns had cleared out 7 or 8 tables for us and gave us a choice of half a dozen food choices. I went with a bowl of their seafood chowder that was o\loaded with fish and packed with flavor. I have to say that I saw Fish Chowder on the menus in a lot of places in Ireland, and the three times I had it (all in different places) all yielded the same result. A big bowl of filling and delicious chowder. I went up to the bar to get drinks and saw portraits of President Kennedy and Jackie Kennedy behind the bar. We saw their pictures everywhere in Ireland. One interesting tidbit - I ordered a Bloody Mary for lunch and got a glass of vodka and ice cubes and a small bottle of tomato juice. McGann's was charming, the service was friendly, the atmosphere was wonderful, and the food was very good. read more

Now this is a fish 'n' chips I can get behind. FINALLY! I suppose scouring the UK and Ireland for a proper dish of fish and chips is about like wading through all the mediocre pizzerias in Manhattan trying to find the most elite pizzas that will change your life. They exist. But they're far outnumbered by the lackluster rip-offs. It's a needle in a haystack, and we've been finding a lot of hay and no needle in England, Scotland, and Ireland. So finally, our private guide took us to McGann's in the tiny, adorable town of Doolin, Ireland. This is the best fried fish I've had on our entire European tour so far, almost as good as that gem I found in Iceland a few years ago! Crispy exterior as it should be, fish as tender as I hoped, and sufficient chips on the side. Now that's more like it! I highly recommend visiting Doolin, and there are several suggestions for dining that will not disappoint, including McGann's. read more

The food was delicious! I loved the homemade chips and the tasty seafood chowder. The food came out extremely fast, less than 10 minutes. Stopped here with a day tour group to the cliffs. I think this spot is frequented by your groups. Menu included seafood, Irish stew, fish and chips, and more. Pretty small menu but everything looked great. read more

We were driving along the western coast of Ireland and had heard that Doolin was a great little city to visit. While we were driving through the area we decided to stop in here for some lunch. Like so many of the pubs in Ireland it was a great cozy place, but bigger than it actually felt. Unfortunately,we were there during lunch time and there was no music playing until the evening. We still enjoyed our lunch and the seafood chowder was outstanding. read more

This Pub runs like clockwork! The owner get guests seated quickly and the food comes out almost immediately. The Lamb was tender and the veggies were well seasoned. My husband's Fish & Chips was crispy and the chips were more like homemade potato chips than French fries. Definitely try this Pub if you are in Doolan. read more
