It was busy during the lunch hour on a Sunday, so we got our name down on the clipboard waitlist. It was about a 20-30 min wait for a party of 6, with 6-7 smaller parties ahead of us. The food was good, and portions are very generous! I enjoyed the chicken fried steak over hash browns with eggs. Expect to take leftovers back if you're a small eater. Service was friendly and welcoming. What can improve: interior temp/AC - felt a bit hot/stuffy and couldn't tell if the AC was on inside, though it was better than the 100 degrees outside. Bathrooms aren't very clean. 4.5 but will round up!

We came around 10:00am on a Weds morning, one person who's never been and this is my second time…read morecoming here in person. The first time was great! This experience unfortunately wasn't that. Place was quiet, just a few tables seated with people and an empty room. Two servers, both very sweet upon entering and I was quickly seated and I put in my drink order. Don't miss the dessert case as soon as you walk in. As soon as I sat down, things kind of went sideways lol. I asked for a Diet Coke and I was brought coffee for the table. Ok, sure I don't mind a coffee, that's kinda nice. Then I placed my order "corned beef and hash with a side of biscuits and gravy", was told it would be an up charge; no worries. Plus I asked for my Diet Coke and it was good. They got the nice small crunchy ice! Jess got The King Waffle; comes with peanut butter, chocolate drizzle and bananas topped with whip cream and a side of syrup. Here's the thing, instead of biscuits and gravy, I got served pancakes lol. By this time, business had picked up a little bit so it's understandable she wasn't really able to fully stop at the table and just kinda drop and take the other food she has to the other patrons there. A few minutes later she brought the biscuits and gravy and was also kind enough to let us keep the pancakes, That was very nice of her. They were decent pancakes, very big and covered in butter and a side of syrup. If you love pancakes, you'll love these. Corned beef has was ok. It was the homemade style with chunks of corned beef, rather than the typical diner type aka canned looking version I love and genuinely prefer. Especially when it has a nice crisp on it. This plate didn't come with hash browns but it does come with eggs. I asked for cheddar cheese on top and they came out very good! Fluffy, pillowy, very nice. The King Waffle was thick! They do use crunchy peanut butter, Jess didn't know that, so it was a little off putting for her. We just prefer creamy and the fact that it added an extra texture to the overall flavor can be a hit or miss depending on who you are. The whipped cream has a coconut flavor to it, surprisingly nice. Towards the end of our meal, we had another waitress take over our table and she was also nice. She brought us a container, even went and packaged up our desserts. We asked for a cherry pie and a peach cobbler. Both came out to $8, both were not worth $8. We were given an apple pie instead of cherry, the pies crust was dry and dense. The filling was ok, but something started tasting off in the crust so I stopped eating. The peach cobbler had a phenomenal flavor from the peaches, but once we tried warming it up, something white and slimy was in the middle of it, so we threw that out also. $72 dollars for everything we got. I always say tip your staff cause they're the heart of your experience. They treat you good, you do the same. 15% standard but give you what you can. Overall, I think I'm ready to look for another breakfast spot. I gave this spot so much hype after my first experience. I thought especially cause it wasn't as busy this time, we were in for the best experience! That wasn't the case. I just don't see the justification to pay that much to eat here, when there's other locations that might give better quality and an overall better experience.

Instead, you walk in and immediately wonder if you've stepped into the wrong business. Shelves of trinkets, cards, and knick‑knacks greet you first, a full gift shop, and for a moment you're standing there, confused, scanning for a hostess who never appears. Then you notice the sign‑in sheet. Write your name, your party size, and wait. It feels old‑school, almost nostalgic, like something from a diner that's been around long enough to earn the right to do things its own way. When they call your name, you're led through what feels like a maze, rooms inside rooms, hallways that twist, tables tucked into corners, and finally a dining room decorated with a Viking boat and family portraits that look like they date back to the mid‑20th century. It's quirky, unexpected, and strangely charming in a way only small‑town institutions can pull off. The staff is kind, the sort of people who've probably worked here long enough to know half the regulars by name. The placemats are printed with ads for local businesses, a reminder that this place is stitched into the fabric of Visalia. The menu is a long laminated sheet, the kind you flip over once or twice just to make sure you didn't miss anything. I ordered the keto plate, bacon, sausage, three eggs, and a small bowl of cottage cheese topped with avocado slices. Simple, straightforward, exactly what it says it is. The eggs were room temperature, which took a little of the comfort out of the dish, but everything else was fine. Not great, not bad, just breakfast. Valhalla is interesting. The name promises Vikings, but what you get is an American diner wrapped inside a gift shop, wrapped inside a labyrinth of rooms. It's the kind of place you try once because curiosity brought you there. Whether you come back depends on what you're looking for. For me, this was a last‑minute solo brunch, a little adventure, a new spot to check off the list. And in that sense, it delivered, an experience, a story, something worth writing about.

I've definitely been coming here since the beginning (before patio seating and mobile orders) haha thanks to my mom! It's stood out from the very beginning & I love how much they have expanded (3 locations now -- Visalia, Tulare, Fresno). There's something for everyone on their Menu. I personally believe that they have some of the best matcha's around. BUT... if you drink your matcha with LOTS of sweetener, you probably won't like a real matcha from here -- I say this because some will complain that it taste like GRASS... and well, it damn near is (green tea leaves) lol--all jokes aside, their drinks and food are all hand crafted and all made and / or roasted in house! I have not once ever had a complaint about this place. I love the ambience inside and out.. definitely a favorite here in Visalia! Service and time... always as expected. You are getting hand crafted drinks and food, so don't expect them to rush. ****Rush hour in the am and during lunch hours**** The workers are always very knowledgeable about their menu items & products. This was a Huge plus for me, because sometimes I like to ask the employees for their recommendations or personal favorites! They usually end up being pretty darn good Their pop tarts... if you can get them when they have them.. TRY THEM OUT!! Actually, all their pastry's and breakfast items are delicious! (I just always forget to take pictures) haha my mom loves their avo or seasonal toast/ my dad loves the breakfast burritos! I will always come here for food/homemade pastries, a drink, to work, or to hang out with my loved ones! Thank you Component team for making every visit a good one

Component Coffee Lab sits tucked behind the downtown buildings, the kind of spot you don't stumble…read moreinto by accident. You find it because someone told you about it, or because you were looking for a place that feels a little more city than Central Valley. Brick walls, hanging art, a patio out front call it rustic, call it urban, call it hipster. Whatever the word is, it fits. Inside, the place hums. Not the quiet hum of a sleepy café, but the full‑volume buzz of people who treat coffee shops like co‑working spaces. The whole back section was a sea of laptops when I walked in, a slow tide of remote workers drifting out as the hour passed. Young folks, older folks, groups talking over each other a mix that tells you this spot has become a kind of community hub, even if the noise makes it hard to read without noise‑canceling buds. I came for a simple moment, a London Fog and a book. The tea was good, made with Rishi, a brand I'd never heard of but wouldn't mind trying again. I sipped it slowly, trying to sink into the page, but the chatter kept pulling me back to the room. Not a bad thing, just not the right place for quiet reflection. Some cafés are built for solitude; this one is built for motion. The staff was friendly, your standard modern barista crew, casual, quick, and easygoing. They run a tight operation, even offering mobile orders, something you usually see in bigger industrial coffee spots. Pastries, sandwiches, teas, espresso, the menu covers all the bases. Finding the entrance was its own adventure. Two doors, a divider in the middle, and a moment of "Wait... which side do I go through?" Not a dealbreaker, just one of those quirks that makes you laugh once you figure it out. Lighting is interesting here, low lamps mixed with a flood of natural light pouring in from the center of the shop. It gives the place a warm‑meets‑industrial feel, like a café that grew out of a warehouse and decided to keep the personality. Will I come back? Maybe. It's a great spot for people‑watching, conversation, or getting work done. But for reading, for sinking into a book with a drink, it's a place that demands either silence from the world or silence from your earbuds. Component Coffee Lab is loud, lively, and loved, just not quiet. And maybe that's the point.

Although the food here was good, the atmosphere was chaotic. The floor staffing was not able to service the dining room and the delegation of duties appeared haphazard (two servers working the counter as well as part of the floor). We waited about 10 minutes and had to call over a server because no one had come to take the drink order. That server could have corrected this but instead said that we were not in her area and our waitress had broken a cup and cut herself. She could have been more gracious and taken our drink order. Our server came over a couple of minutes later and apologized, but she seemed overwhelmed. We received our coffee and later our food, but I asked for milk for my coffee on three occasions before any was brought to me. The food was good and was served fairly promptly but no refills on coffee were offered and when we asked for refills there our request was acknowledged but never fulfilled. When we went to the counter to pay our check, our server was unable to make change for a $52.08 bill from $62.08. This could be a good local place based on the food, but the service is such that I cannot recommend it.
