I just purchased a "meal" in this McDonalds drive-thru. For my drink, I requested "unsweetened ice tea," and I was charged an extra $0.50 "up charge" fee because my ice tea isn't considered a "soft drink". What???!!! So, because I chose an unsweetened ice tea I have to pay more? When ice tea is the least costly drink than Coca-cola????? Had I ordered this inside the restaurant, there would be no such charge because they would hand me a cup and I would choose my own drink at the drink dispenser. But since they had me in my car, they essentially have the ability to extort an up-charge!!! This location has been sketchy on pricing before. Came here the other night at about 8:30 pm, for a quick bite with two younglings. It was their idea, of course. Now, this location, known for its less-than-stellar reputation, managed to surprise us during this visit! We decided to eat in, and the dining room was very quiet. We ordered via the self-order kiosks, a first for me, and it went very well. We typed in a table number, took the receipt, and waited. The food came rather quickly and was trayed nicely. Everything was there, and hot! Yummy. The server who brought the tray was friendly and efficient, asking if we needed anything else. We did not, and settled into the meal. All the food was up to McDonald's standards. A Happy Meal with nuggets, a chocolate shake, a nuggets meal, fries, and Sprite, and I think we were done. I came to this specific McDonald's during my lunch break (It's the closest to my job). I get there around 10:30 (Lunch was supposed to been start) and I order my food then when I get to the window I'm then told that lunch is starting late and that I have to wait until 11 for my food, mind you my lunch break is only 30min. When I asked for a refund I was refused and told to wait until they had lunch ready, when I asked if I could substitute it for something they still had from breakfast I was told they don't have anything to serve. The difference between what is served at this McDonalds and MV one is huge - these are overcooked and buns are over toasted. Not very tasty. This place is like most fast food places; just good enough to get you fed. I'm a local in the area so I've been coming to this location for years. Sometimes the service involves a bit of miscommunication or the employee getting in a bad habit of assuming you're done with an order and then they miss an item. I don't expect any sort of excellent service, but even as a bare minimum, they tend to miss the marks every so often. Sometimes they get my order wrong or they're just not friendly at all. This place is a good last resort if you need fast food early morning or late night. It'd be better if the employees were a bit more better trained in communication and customer service. read more

My brother traverses this section of the 101 frequently. He was the one who recommended this McDonald's for a quick drive-through location when the crew was thirsty a few weeks ago. True to his assessment, it was close to a freeway off-ramp, and easy to get back on when headed south. The location is older, and the parking lot striping to get to the drive-through lane is rather funky and tight. Still, we made it to the promised land of the ordering box. The staff members were friendly, and they got our order right. Always a plus. Seems like other Yelpers don't care for this location much, but it worked out fine for us. Getting back on the highway going south, you have to be prepared to get up to speed quickly.
