There's some good and bad about this spot. Stopped here twice after 2 different track meets, one being later in the night, the other being around 3 pm. The first time i went, it was quite calm and the cashier was nice to me, and they were LIGHT on my mac sauce for my big mac. HOWEVER, the second time I went, there were kids both yelling and running around, one of which had his buttcrack exposed. I then ordered the same thing i do, a big mac with fries and a water, extra salt on the fries no pickles on the Big Mac and LIGHT Mac sauce. When i got my order after being in the bathroom (which was nice) I realized the Mac Sauce was DRIPPING out of the box, however my fries were salted greatly so thank you. Walk in customer and ordered at Kiosk. Waited about 5-6 min and ask about my order. The so called Manager said..we are understaffed so it might be a min. Waited 5 more minutes and asked again she said "I don't know it's not my fault and quit asking!". My response was I'm the customer and your response and attitude is wrong. How an establishment that can't serve customers with ONE lane open would try to run 2 is truly beyond comprehension! Taking 1 customers order from the inside lane for every 3 orders taken from the outside one does nothing but piss people off! Not that the cold dry food did anything for their reputation. pretty damn sad when the dinner rush hasn't even started at 4:00 pm. Stopped to try and pick up a quick snack for toddlers but by the time we received the order they were both asleep! And they didn't appreciate being woke for cold food. Quite an interesting new layout inside,the place and was quite cleaner than our usual McDs near us. Staff were thankfully more immediately understanding of the survey 'buy one very one' free sandwich- which is almost always a five minute issue involving getting a manager. Food was quick as it could be since I ordered two quarter pounders and they were done Judy right. Worth checking out IMO. read more

This is the prettiest McDonald's I've ever been in. I don't know if they are all like this in Salem Virginia or just this one. First off the bathrooms are clean and had granite decor inside. A fireplace and leather couches. Wow really? We stopped by here during a road trip from Atlanta to NYC. Glad I did..this place was beautiful. read more

Been in several times and every single time the manager is so aggressive and in a bad mood, which she takes out on the customers. They got my order wrong and she somehow blamed me for it. Asked for a cheeseburger with only onions, the onions on the cheeseburger are always diced but they put whole ones on it for some reason, and when I asked for diced onions she said I should have specified that. Why? The whole store is so uncomfortable because it's always dead and you can hear her shrieking at the workers for being slow while she just stands around glaring at everyone who comes in. read more

If it was possible to give zero stars I would. Ordered a quarter pounder meal through the drivethru, and after getting back on the highway I noticed what looked like an onion sticking out of the side of the bun. Went to take a bite and this came out. Luckily I didn't actually chew it or choke and die while driving, but you can't in any way tell me that this was accidental. Have called the restaurant numerous times to discuss with someone and they either don't answer the phone or am put on hold and no one ever comes back on the line. We went to Mcdonald's on Main Street in Salem, Va there was NO line in the Drive thu it took me saying HELLO 5 Times before anyone answered mind you we had been at the menu for 5 minute. Typical McDonald's, though the staff even though they of course are teenagers really are immature. My wife and I were trying to enjoy the food there while two of their staff members were shouting at each other, and jumping into the booth attached to my wife's seat thus hurting her back from the jarring. We ignored the shouts even though they were AT THE SAME TABLE as each other, and I only asked the teenager to please not jump down on to the seat. Her reply was "oh we can't help but act this way so we will move" I mean seriously?! My family and I decided to take a trip to come out and do some hiking. We decided to stop by and get some food. As soon as we walked in we were all very impressed with how clean the place was and how friendly the cashier and the manager were. My kids liked how they had two single couches there with a TV. I forgot to order one drink for my son and they offered to give my son a cup at no additional cost.. Went through the Drive-Thru this morning(7/16) and ordered two Big Breakfasts with Pancakes & two large coffees. A bit overpriced for sure but what isn't anymore. I got no hash-browns that are suppose to come with each Big Breakfast(1 each) plus no pancake syrup(2 each) that is suppose to come with the pancakes of the Big Breakfast. This location needs to better train their employees or replace them with employees that actually give a shit! Poor customer service! If you decide to go though their Drive-Thru you better check your bag before leaving the window to make sure you actually got what you ordered and paid for!!! read more

Why is it that no matter the time of day, busy or not, or what you order, you have to pull ahead in the drive through because they never have the food ready. At least 5 times in the last 2 months this has happened. The absolute worst McD's I have ever visited. Frequently the order is not correct, wrong drink, items on food that I asked not to have. This AM, ordered 4 McGriddles, was waiting and about 3-4 minutes later saw 4 show up in the bagging area. Finally one of the drones put them in a bag...then put it on top of a stack of trays. 12 minutes after I ordered, the cashier asked me for my order #, and sure enough, my order was the one that had been sitting on top of the trays for 7 minutes. Best Mcdonalds I've ever seen! It was like being at home. The friendliness and cleanliness was astounding. There were Ipads on each table with games for the kids. To top it off there was two plush chairs to relax in, whilst resting near the fireplace and reading the newspaper. They were fully decorated for the holidays, even in the restroom!
