Extremely slow service, terrible. No one at the drive-through and waited 18 minutes to be exact.

Love the workers and customers. Always a great laugh. Food made fresh to order at night not a bad wait.

It was extremely slow, at least 20 minutes and we were the only people in line. The employees could be heard arguing with each other at the window. But, they were friendly to us. We did get a chuckle about the sign they had on the ice cream machine. I will say, their sign must serve them as a good reminder because the ice cream machine was operating when we were there. Food came out to us lukewarm. Overall it was an okay experience. Nothing absolutely horrible, but nothing outstanding either.

I went through the drive-through with a friend he wanted a crispy strip meal, which I ordered with Sprite plus a double cheeseburger and a four piece nugget. We drove to the window and I paid. I saw the amount seem kind of low, but we proceeded to the next window. He handed us the bag close the door and then disappeared. We had to pull to the special window since they are cooked to order after he closed the window, I realized he didn't give us the drink and then my friend said there's no fry's. I checked the receipt and there wasn't a meal listed just crispy strips so since no one ever came back to the window, I parked the car and I went inside. I said to the lady at the register we ordered a crispy strip meal, but we only got the strips. She went in the back and out came the manager. I told her exactly the same thing her response was " I should have asked for a medium"! My response was isn't that your job and with that she said thank you have a nice day and walked away.

We just ordered burgers and fries, but they were fantastic. Great food, great atmosphere, and exactly what we needed after a morning of baseball. And Karen was absolutely wonderful! She was the exact opposite of the definition of a "Karen." She was smiling, welcoming, genuinely excited to have us there, and just an absolute joy. Then there was the Long Island Iced Tea. After spending the entire morning at the baseball field and heading into the afternoon, YES, I needed one! Stephan made it, and I have to say, it was probably one of the best Long Island Iced Teas I've ever had. Phenomenal! So, if you're looking for a place in Cooperstown to grab a great meal, have a good drink, and get a little much-needed mental health time after baseball, this is your place! Thank you, Double Day Cafe, for knocking it out of the park! Great food, great drinks, and even better people. We'll definitely be back! If you want a good meal and good drinks in Cooperstown, come here!

A little "brunch diner" that was a pleasant surprise. After touring the National Baseball Hall of…read moreFame, we decided to get some lunch. After checking out the menus, we decided on The Cooperstown Diner. Upon entering, this restaurant is SMALL. Twenty five seats are available. The decor is old and the restaurant could use some work. To use the restroom, a person has to walk through the kitchen. I have to take a point off for this. The food, how ever, was most excellent! The hamburgers are made with fresh ground beef and made by hand patties. Make sure you give a temp on the burgers or they arrive at a medium temp. The small burger is seven ounces of beef and sets high on the toasted bun. The chicken salad is house made and is seasoned with an Italian blend of spices. It was served as a melt on toasted, buttered sour dough bread. A very good sandwich. The other meal was the steak sandwich. The roll was toasted and piled high with beef and cheese. The French Fries and Tater Tots are from frozen but prepared well. The menu has a very strong breakfast variety but we didn't see or order a breakfast item. The price is very reasonable for the amount and quality of the food. If something out of the norm is something you like, give this place a chance. You will be pleasantly surprised!!!

The same goes for the sides of MASHED POTATOES with gravy and RED BEANS WITH RICE. I expected it to be like a "generic Kentucky Fried Chicken" restaurant but it is SOOOO much better, I will never get KFC again. I loved everything but one item, so much so that I am giving it 5 stars despite thinking the meat in the sandwich was gross. This chicken is so much crispier and the breading and meat have a better flavor and texture. It is not slimy meat like KFC and has a very mild seasoning they describe as Cajun, but it is not overpowering and I wouldn't have put my finger on what it was if not called out. The mashed potatoes have a nice texture and consistency and the gravy is so delicious, like real gravy. The biscuits are good too although they don't have the fake butter flavor I regret to say I do like from KFC, even though I think these are better quality. One thing I DID NOT LIKE AT ALL was the CHICKEN SANDWICH that comes with pickles and a little bit of honey sauce--the texture of this chicken breast was really weird. It crunched when I bit through it, but the crunch was not from the breading or the pickles; the meat itself was tough like it was heavily "pumped up" with a saltwater solution or something to make it juicy and full. I ate about half of the sandwich but frankly, this meat grossed me out and had a really unnatural texture. Almost like rubbery and so firm that the meat itself sort of snaps/crunches when you chew through it. I will definitely never get the sandwich again and am not sure if the nuggets and chicken strips might be weird like this too. But the bone-in chicken is stellar!
