Place is filthy . Bathrooms have no paper towels and the employees are too busy talking to their friends than making orders .

This is a decent, family-owned restaurant. Much of the food appears to be made from scratch. The owners are accommodating folks. The Mrs. will answer any questions posed to her. The Mr. is a bit of a character, and may give you some sarcasm and a bit of attitude. (If you realize that, then your visit should be fine. He means no harm.) Their food is served on "real" dishes made of ceramic (not plastic). However, iced tea, soda pop, and other cold drinks are served within hard, plastic cups. They have a full menu of food, but also offer daily specials. I've had the pleasure of enjoying two (2) of the lunch specials: 1) The country-fried steak is tasty, moist, and nicely breaded 2) Even more delicious is their chicken and dumplings with homemade cornbread! There are hearty chunks of meat swimming within this generous dish along with well-prepared dumplings. Be sure to watch for a piece or two of chicken bones, though. Homemade, indeed! The paved parking lot is more than adequate, given the size of the building. There's additional parking on crushed rocks, located in the back. Despite there being only about three customers during a weekday afternoon, the waitress was distracted by her phone, and didn't refill my drink until prompted by me. The restaurant is located across the street (north of) from the Family Dollar store. I recommend this eatery, and plan on returning again. (My pictures were posted by Yelp elsewhere, within the photos section of this business.)

Tell you what--we were thrilled when we happened to drive by BB's Burger Shack & found out they had "Fish Fry Fridays"! And the fish was DEEEE-LISH-US, too! So good that most of us had already devoured a good portion before we thought about taking pictures! (I included the 1 plate that still had at least 1 filet left ha.) We also ordered a few other things worth talking about: the fried pickles (great even compared to some of favorite big city places), mozzarella sticks (yum), onion rings (we had someone super picky about onion rings & he even liked them), the Pig (yum yum!) & a regular burger (flavor was good but it if you don't like well done, may be a little dry & a side salad (QUALITY salad hard to find at burger places). The service was great too--all of the staff was very attentive & even offered to refill our drinks to go when we were leaving. Long story short--this is a rare find in a small town. If you're in the area--GO GO GO! And if they have their fried fish --order it!

This was soft serve and they did have ice cream so they kept asking, "One, two, or three scoops?" To which we replied with three fingers and a grin. But please add malt was met with they could sprinkle it on top. To which our smiles became frowns. "Can't you just shake it up in the glass or in the mixer? We queried. No that would be soft serve was the answer. They do have real ice cream too. We were a bit slow on the uptake, and our sweet counter girl, Emily, who was in her 20s but looked 15, patiently explained the ice cream came in a cup and the milk shakes were soft serve only, because evidently their shake machine can't handle the hard real stuff. We caved, got soft serve. We wanted malts not ice cream sprinkled with malt. *sigh.* Bella, Michael and Kennedy looked on, in training with our youthful trainer, and Kennedy remarked, "You're living on the edge," It was her first day. The place also had other retro food, except for the seed oils, which meant shakes only for us.

I ordered a medium rare ribeye, which was slightly overcooked but still a very good cut of meat. I did not care for the coleslaw or the gouda macaroni and cheese. The meal was served with toast. The chocolate pecan pie with ice cream was good. I arrived at 6:30 and was given a glass of water that a drank immediately because i was thirsty. Any establishment that must function understaffed should be like Nashville clubs and set out a jug of water so people can refill their cups on their own. They took my drink order at 7. There were no empty seats at the bar so I sat alone at a table. The experience was OK but they need at least one more server. The only reason they get by with charging over fifty dollars for the steak is because there's literally no other place within 40 miles you can get a good steak. The sides are below average. The servers are friendly but obviously overworked. The bathroom was clean and there was plenty of parking.

The restaurant portion of the building was almost empty, and I was seated almost immediately, but I was placed at a table in a high traffic area next to the kitchen. After a while, I flagged down an employee since it was unclear to me who my server was. I put in an appetizer order of their heavenly eggs. They included a wonderfully tart sauce, and the serving size was three eggs. The mushroom gnocchi that I had was delicious, and enough to feed two people. The potato dumplings were expertly made, and some of the best that I've ever eaten. Other than the service being a bit hit and miss, I would return if only for the excellent food.
