Okay, as a rule, I don't review McDonald's because of the food, but I feel that this McDonald's location deserves a review because of exceptional customer service. Here's the story: My wife, four kids, and I were on a trip from Michigan to Texas. After several hours in the car, we needed a McDonald's with a playground so our kids could burn off some pent-up energy. I found this McDonald's location via Yelp and contacted the store at approximately 8: 20 PM. I asked them if they had a play area, to which they advised they did. When we arrived at the McDonald's, we were told the play area closed at 8:00 PM. Initially, I was very upset that I was not informed about the closing time over the phone. However, I explained our plight to the manager, and she graciously allowed our kids to play in the play area until closing time! Also, it is noteworthy that this play area is larger and nicer than your average McDonald's play area. We also found this location to be clean, food was fresh and delivered quickly. Furthermore, the staff taking our order was also very accommodating. Again, McDonald's food is generally the same everywhere you go, but the amenities and the customer service really set this location apart. read more

The blonde Katrina manager working the drive-thru around 10:30 a.m., when lunch service began, was unnecessarily rude. She raised her voice over a simple request for a small cup of water, stating it would cost 50 cents. Her attitude was unprofessional and uncalled for. Yes, this Mcdonalds will sometimes get your order wrong. But every time I go there they are always packed inside and even the drive thru. So, I can understand that sometimes my order might be wrong. And this has happened twice, but they were very kind to me and have always given me a free order of my complete meal the next time I came back. I just ordered two Bigmac's and the order was quick and hot, and I really enjoyed both sandwiches. I've been to this Mcdonalds for over 12 years, and I have always enjoyed the friendly customer service I've always gotten at the window. read more

Went through at 11 pm and got cold fries. We've gotten cold, old, stale food before, but they weren't even warm in the slightest. We never go back through and ask for them to fix mistakes, but we went back through and apologized for the trouble and asked for fresh fries. They took them back, which is a health code violation, and then said the new ones would be out in a couple minutes. The girl kept the window open on purpose, walked around the corner, and started screaming about us to her coworkers, cussed us out and screamed "TELL ME THESE FUCKING FRIES ARE COLD" multiple times. So we gathered that her and her coworkers touched food that has already been touched and eaten by customers, and they were all still standing there when we got the fresh fries, they definitely did not wash their hands before handling new food. Her shift manager gave us the fries and didn't say anything to her worker to hold her accountable, she just let her scream and cuss us out right around the corner where she knew we could hear her. It was extremely unprofessional and rude. I've been a food service worker, supervisor, and manager, and I can absolutely say if I were the manager there, that girl would be immediately fired and would never come back. I have never been treated like this in any establishment. I genuinely could not believe her reaction, especially because we were very polite and apologetic. Awful service. Pretty simple order fish sandwich chicken nuggets and a drink. Order was fine except for the fish sandwich contained an expiration tag that was baked into the fish that I found while eating. They did give me a coupon for a free fish, however not sure that I'll use it at this particular location read more

if I could give them 0 stars I would came threw today and got a filet o fish asked them to make it fresh which is a reasonable ask because I am a paying customer got it back and it was rock solid like they just threw it in the fryer twice and I couldn't even bite threw it, also got a double hamburger asked for a Big Mac bun and they messed that up too and I have a dairy allergy and they acted like we didn't tell them three times , the mcchicken we got looked like it got electrocuted and the other burger we got was still mooing and the worker was giving all types of attitude when we asked them to fix it nicely read more

I didn't want to blast the McDonalds on Dettro Dr, however when you hate complaining but see no other choice.... Well here we are. We LOVE McDonalds otherwise, but since I'm now disabled and can't drive, we order delivery. Our fries are ALWAYS cold, drinks not filled all the way up, and the burgers are so dang sloppy made. Also, they get our order wrong A LOT, OR ITEMS MISSING!! We have called a few times over this and I reached out via email to establishment but no reply and when you call Mattoon to let them know, they will simply give you "Missing Items) No one knows how to take how the quality of food, the time delivery takes or ruin someone's dinner and it angers me. I have to have dinner at t a certain time and with food. I am gonna guess that the young kids probably work @ night and are not supervised well. I would rather have cold food and the Manager on doesn't address the employees. Just sat in the drive through for over 10 minutes tonight before myself and another person left AFTER we had already ordered. someone inside had their head up their ass instead of doing work. I was able to make it to Steak n Shake ' s drive thru before the Iine at McDonald's had moved. Fast failures: This McDonald's is my last resort. I've eaten here multiple times, and nearly every single time my order was incorrect. I wish that was an overstatement. I've had raw food, over-cooked food, re-cooked food, and stale food. It's a common occurrence to re-fry their fries. I've seen the grease glisten off of the fry itself. I've torn my sandwiches to shreds trying to find something to salvage, Be it the bread or the meat. I've gotten someone else's food and that wasn't even prepared properly. You pay for what you don't order and cannot digest without some concern. Because of the mistakes in my orders, some of which aren't able to be "saved", I've gone up to the register to ask for my order to be fixed. There have been just about as many instances of rude service as food problems. I've faced a lot of intolerance for wanting the correct order. I've been blatantly ignored standing at the register. I've been handed the wrong thing twice. Coming to this McDonald's is a risk of health. It's a waste of time and money. read more

Awful. First, the order screen at the drive thru was broken, so I couldn't double-check my order before we pulled forward. Second, the woman at the pay window only read off half of what we ordered, leaving out the drinks, leaving us confused as to whether or not our drinks actually made it onto the order. Third, the actual order was wrong; we got an extra fry, and were charged for it as well, when we didn't order it. When we tried to rectify that, the woman at the window argued with us about it, insisting that it was exactly what we ordered, when it in fact was not, it was rung up improperly. When we gave up trying to sort it out and just left with our food, we came to find out that over half of the snack wrap we ordered was stale. This isn't our first terrible experience here, but it's definitely our last; I'm never going to eat here again. read more
