If you know me, I review restaurants based on their "category" so of course I'm not comparing McDonalds to a Chef's Table. I'll compare it against its peers of other fast food joints. This particular location is sub par. The employees are hit n miss on service. More than often the food order will be wrong or below standard. Customizing your order sometimes helps but is not a guarantee. The dining room is also hit or miss on cleanliness. We have never really seen it sparkling clean. Now we have more options and have been visiting the others when craving fast food because they are better in all areas (food, service and cleanliness). It's McDonalds so I'm not reviewing the food. Most are very similar. However this location was terrible. They had not cleaned the grill in a while because the burnt scuz was on my burger. Dining room was empty (no customers) and FILTHY! Seriously can't even run a broom over the floor. Staff was inattentive and more interested in playing grab ass in the back than engagement with a customer. The young lady in the blue hoodie behind the counter had a horrible attitude when I politely asked for ketchup (because the two dispensers were empty). I have been around a long time at 73 years of age. I have eaten at many resturants in the US, in the service and overseas. Today I have had the WORST experience at my local McDonalds in Land O Lakes, Florida on the corner of 54 and 41. I was there after Christmas shopping with my four year old grandaughter and 11 year old grandson, down here from North Caroline with our son and his wife. We had hit the stores to get their Christmas presents to take home with them for the last 3 hours. We were all hungry and they wanted McDonalds. We went in and places a $38.54 order. Got our number tag for our table and the young girl at the counter said it would be right out and brought to our table. It was not a busy time, 1:34 to be exact, we waited 15 mins or so, no food. Went up to the counte and the same young girl asked what I needed. I said I was waiting for our order, she said she would check on it. Went back to our table, waited 10 mins, still no food. Grandchildren getting antsy, I steamed. I went back a second time with the receipt and same young girl and said "hello?" whats with the food? left her the receipt, went back to our table. 10 more mins, still nothing!? Went back a third time, saw my receipt sitting on the counter, no tray being set up with my order! Saw two people at a nearby table, who looked like McDonalds higher ups. Asked and she confirmed, told her the situation and left her with the receipt. About 7 to 10 mins later out comes a man who I assummed was the manager with our food. He aplogized for the delay and said if we come back tommorow he would comp our meal. STEAM out of my ears! I just told him I would not be back tommorow or ever again! I told him to just leave, I could not talk. With the lenghty delay of about 35 mins, he DID NOT even the time to check the order for accuracy! No apple juice for my grandauther, no dipping sauce for my wifes nuggets and the audacity to ask us to come back tommorow! Oh! of course, we eat here every day! Butt head! Before anyone ask, YES I have worked in the service industry since I was 8 years old! I grew up on the site a motel, trailer park, restuarant, that my parents owned. I worked in the resturant till I went into the service at age 20 for 4 years. I have worked and managed two McDonalds in the 80's, a Pizza Hut, I owned my own pizza resturant, was a hardware service tech for IBM for 23 years, work again at Dominoes after I retired, went to work in the medical field for 5 years and over the last 6 years I have my own landscaping/ repair business! I know what good service should be, and expect it when I go where it is required. For a manager to serve a meals in FAST food resturant, 35 mins AFTER the order is placed and NOT check the order for its correctness and then to offer me a comp meal the NEXT day!? Like its and every day stop?! DAMN! How stupid can a person be?! If it was me anytime in any business, I was in, I would have comped the meal then and there! Forget the next time! I'm a DoorDash driver and I had to wait more than ten minutes just to get the woman's attention which was also a MANAGER and when she came to the window she was still texting on her cell phone. Meanwhile I kept seeing people coming and going while I was still waiting on the last window like she told me , approximately 5 cars were attended before she even started with mine. (Mind you the DoorDash should've been done by the time I arrived or at least in process)The order was a medium meal that shouldn't take long to make and I saw her taking her time walking around doing nothing taking longer on what seem to be on purpose. Apart from it all she was also very rude and wouldn't even give me her name and when I would ask for it she kept closing the window on my face, she wasn't wearing her name badge. I've worked at multiple different McDonald's in my life and even knowing what goes on behind the scenes this store is hands down the worst and there is NO justification for issues I have seen arise here. first of all, I always speak into the speaker loudly and clearly (because I know the headsets can be hard to hear through sometimes) and still everytime I order, especially in the evenings the same lady usually takes my order and I have to repeat myself multiple times. second, I walk in tonight to order one item, a McFlurry. it was 9:15 when I went in to order. Sign on the door says dining room closes at 10 or 11. (I forget which exactly but it shouldn't matter because I was there at 9:15). I am ignored at the register at first, which I've come to expect at this store; I was finally greeted by a crew member but then a big light skinned dude comes around the corner with a shitty attitude and informs me in an extremely loud and confrontational voice "dining room is closed" before he walked back behind a corner. I stood there for a second, confused as to why he yelled at me like that when I was being nice and patient to the employee there. I asked her if I could speak to a manager and was informed he was the manager. I then told her (still in a polite tone) "it might be a good idea to put a note on the door or lock it so you don't have customers come in and actually be upset" about that time as I am walking out I hear the employee telling the manager this and him reply calling me a "bitch". I walked out, without saying a word, however it is beyond me that the general manager of this store has such incapable people in shift manager positions. The man who was the manager on this shift clearly was not fit to be a manager, if for no other reason just the way he talked about me to an employee. I was not upset about the dining room being closed at all, but as a former employee of another McDonalds in the area I knew how customers can be and was trying to simply save the store a complaint. The final issue I have here is EVERY single time I order something (from a burger to ice cream) there is somehow always an issue with the way it's made? My go to order is a cheeseburger (only ketchup and pickle because I'm allergic to onions) and I always make sure to ask when I'm ordering for the 10:1 without onion BECAUSE I'm allergic and it ALWAYS comes with onion?? I'm not sure if the management here sucks or if the crew just needs more training but as I stated earlier in my review even as a former employee of a McDonalds that was ALWAYS busy (200+ cars per hour on a regular day) I find the issues I have encountered here insane and not able to be justified. I was a manager at my McDonalds and I was taught if we were closing lobby early to always lock doors and put up a sign, and I was taught the common human decency if I was put in a situation such as he was with me to at least handle it in a more civil manner. If there was no till in the drawer he could've at least said "I'm sorry maam but all of our registers are shut down for the night and we can't accept payment here, but we'd be happy to serve you in drive thru" it's as simple as that. My husband and I have been extremely disappointed with this location for a very long time now but since it's very close to our home, we will visit occasionally when we need something fast and quick. But this was the last straw. After countless times of being told they had run out of meat, or 30 min wait times at the drive-thru... the state of the dining room on Saturday had me nearly speechless. Overflowing trashcans, piles of food and wrappers stacked by the beverage station, trash all over the floor. This is one of the worst McDonalds. The one at 54&41 equally as bad owned by same family. It has been horrible for years pre Covid. McDonalds has a reputation for their the ice cream machines always down. I don't think they have ever worked but twice. I go here for the milkshakes for my son. No one wants to clean anything. Went to this McDonalds for the first time this week. It has to be operated by the same idiots that own the one on Land O Lakes BLVD and 54. They got the order wrong. Then put one of the 2 for 3 dollar burgers in the bag. Talking to others, this happens regularly. Makes one believe the franchisee encourages this to maximize profit. They do this at their other location. They also extend their fry oil, that's why you will get frys that taste like burnt old grease. The burgers were cold. Ended up getting sick shortly after eating. The fries were nasty. I've had pretty good McDonalds in other states. The franchisee that has Land OLakes and other areas really gives McDonalds a poor reputation. When you tell them how bad they screw up, you get a coupon for a small fry.... they are a joke. Looks like I'll be writing off this location too. The first woman taking our order was beyond rude and didn't have any patience whatsoever, we pulled up to the first window to pay and she wasn't wearing her mask it wasn't even a proper mask it was one of those ones for fishing or for being outdoors. I have been here a handful of times because it is the closest restaurant near my home. What I've noticed is that they never fill the fries to the rim when you ask to make your meal large.
