Wanted a late-night snack before heading back to the Airbnb and ended up at this McDonald's around 10 PM. When we walked in, there wasn't anyone taking orders at the counter, so we had to use the kiosks. After ordering, we waited about 30 minutes. During that time, a homeless man cut the line and started a confrontation, threatening other customers. Even after that, we still waited another 30 minutes for our food. I understand this location gets busy, but waiting an hour while dealing with that kind of situation just wasn't worth it. I hope the staff can get more support because it seemed like they were overwhelmed. As for the food, McDonald's in Hawaii is pretty much the same as elsewhere, at least for the dinner menu. The only unique item I noticed was the ube pie, which was sold out. Otherwise, everything tasted the same. The space itself is fairly large, but with so many people crowded at the front waiting, it ends up feeling small. I'd recommend avoiding this location if you can. read more

I had a craving for fast food and figured I'd check out the app deals for McDonald's. This location is walkable from my home so I selected it for its convenience. The location is in the heart of Waikiki and while not the cleanest McDonald's I've been to, it's okay. There was some trash on the tables near me when I entered but I did see workers cleaning here and there. I ordered via the app, which I recommend so you can get the best deals. Otherwise, you have to order at the kiosk--not the counter--at this location. Your order begins to be prepared once you enter the vicinity of the location; this way it's meant to be fairly fresh. Even with that, my french fries were pretty cold and soft, not crisp and hot as I was hoping they would be. My burger was warm and good and my McNuggets were hot. My order was prepared just like I asked for it to be prepared, so points for accuracy. I ordered an ice cream cone and they didn't start it until the rest of my hot food was ready and I came to the counter to pick it up. I do appreciate that. Overall, if you're looking for a quick bite to eat in Waikiki and just want some fast food to make things easy, this is a good location. Keep in mind the Hawai'i McDonald's do have some things the mainland locations don't have, such as fried pies instead of baked, so be sure to check those out. read more

We saw that you could only get haupia pie here in Hawaii, so we had to get it. We came to this location, and it appears the only way to order is through the 2 kiosks. They don't take in-person orders. The line for the kiosk was pretty long. Even after ordering, it took a while to get our one haupia pie. Altogether it probably took about 25-30 minutes from waiting in line to picking up our order. The restaurant appeared pretty dirty, like tables not being clean. Fortunately despite the restaurant experience, the haupia pie came out super hot. Even after a 10 minute walk it was piping hot. The haupia pie was delicious! It had a nice, crunchy, almost oily exterior (in a good way). The filling was slightly runny, with a coconut flavor and like coconut gel pieces (not a lot, but some to give texture). I decided to try Mcd's while in Hawaii. I got my regular Big Breakfast with Hot Cakes and sausage burritos. They were pretty good per usual. I had to try the Local Deluxe Breakfast Platter which had rice, eggs, spam and Portuguese sausage. I thought the sausages were too salty but the rice was cooked perfectly. This store is in Waikiki. I was there with my grandson and his friends after prom. Located very close to our hotel. We walked over and some girls from their school were downstairs, the boys turned around and walked the girls to McDonald's and they all returned to our room. I only ever eat inside a McDonald's when I'm traveling but I've never had employees come check on me multiple times while eating, prepared to give more napkins or ketchup or whatever. This McDonald's is an easy walk if staying around the Waikiki area. Ordered on the app and came for pick up. It was quite busy on a Friday morning around 7:30am as there was at least 8-10 customers waiting for their food. The main dining area upon walking in seemed to be somewhat closed as the some of the chairs were still up on the table, but there were several tables that looked like it had not been cleaned overnight with trash and sticky residue left behind. Definitely not an appealing sight to see walking into a restaurant, and not one that I would want to dine-in at. Main visit was for the Taro Pies ($1.99 each) which are always so yummy and seasonal so we had to grab a few. The ladies working were quite efficient during the rush so a star for that. She told me that she couldn't find it as it's all packaged, but you can clearly see through the bag. She told me that, but I saw her looking for Maui. Thank you! So the Squishmallow Happy Meals are $4.99. It comes with either four pieces of chicken nuggets or a hamburger. You can a little more for the six piece nuggets or cheeseburger. This location is open 24 hours right on Kuhio behind all the main tourist areas. Be careful coming here because there are some shady characters roaming around the area . Saw on TikTok that you can substitute the meat inside the breakfast sandwiches for Portuguese sausage so that's what I went for . When I got my order, of course that's not what happened so they had to fix the sandwich again. They ended up giving me three pieces of sausage for my inconvenience. When I open the sandwich, it was completely dry but I ate it anyways. For having literally two or three customers in the entire establishment and I'll see how they can. This "McDonald's" location is really low key. I was in Waikiki in May and Sep 2022, and I didn't notice it until my visit in Mar 2023. This location is currently open 7 days a week, from 06:00a to 12:00a. I'm giving 3-stars, which equates to "OK". We all know what McDonald's food is. I just dropped in for a late-night snack while walking back to my hotel. In spite of the late hour, the food and service met expectations. By the way: McDonald's in Hawaii do have menu items which cater to the local market, and which are not available on the mainland. Give those a try. read more

Is it just me or has every Mc Donalds went completely downhill. There is absolutely no customer service and they force you to use a kiosk and guess what the kiosk doesn't take cash. I am a big fan of hitting up McDonald's on island because hands down it's the cheapest place to get a cup of coffee. 2x large coffees 20 oz with sugar free vanilla and cream for $3.10 you can't beat that! But what you can beat is just the lack of customer service! This location isn't kept up very well and my only goal every morning is just these 2 cups of coffee and every morning I g it's a hassle. If it wasn't so convenient I would just go somewhere else. read more

Am I really reviewing a McDonald's right now? Yes, yes I am. McDonald's in Hawaii is waaaay different than in California. McDonald's Hawaii has specific items only sold here, such as their breakfast platters (spam or Portuguese sausage), haupia (coconut pudding) and taro pies. I got the spam, eggs, and rice. Came to this location and two of the three self kiosks are out of service. Slow customers at the working kiosk and a slow line for the cashier. McDonalds are McDonald's to e only fun part was the fact that they do add in local fare to the menu. So of course I had to have the Portuguese sausage, eggs and rice. The meal was good, light but filling and they give you soy and sriracha so it was a plus all around. Came here for breakfast a couple of times during our stay. It was just around the corner from the Hyatt Centric hotel. How can you mess up McDonald's food? Well, the workers can! We placed an order for breakfast and had to wait a really long time. It seemed that others placed their order after us and they received their food before we did. You would think that a big corporation like Mickey D's would have this process down, right? But, you have the human element to consider. They just didn't seem to care! One morning we just ordered one cup of coffee. Simple right? Again, took forever. I guess they usually do orders in order of how they were ordered, and that seemed to be the case. Except for us patiently standing there waiting for our cup of coffee. Others came in, ordered and received their food!
