Not sure why I gave it another try here. This is the the worst Mac Donald's I've been to. I drove into the drive through and Waited and called out and waited. Finally someone said hold on they'd be right with me. I waited a couple more minutes. Now we're at 5 minutes. Couldn't reverse out of the drive through so I had no choice but to wait. I finally called out "are you serving breakfast"Someone responded "not till 4 am. So I said ok. I drove forward and there was one car in front of me waiting for their order. I remember when they first open way back when even worked there in the 80's. How it changed over the years wow. Still love the Portuguese sausage , spam and eggs breakfast with rice and Taro or Haupia Pies, they even off free wifi when dining inside. The drive thru is a quick turn kind of narrow and lines extend to the street some days. Every now and then when we visit Hawaii my kids always make sure that we stop there. read more

DO NOT DO MOBILE ORDER AT THIS LOCATION. By far the worst McDonald's I've ever been to. Was overcharged for an item via mobile order (had a deal for a free item, but item was charged on receipt.) Manager Suzanne told me that it was "not their responsibility" and that there was nothing they could do and that I would have to go through my bank to get a refund on the single item they overcharged me. From reading other reviews it seems that this location is notoriously bad about mobile orders. Do NOT mobile order from here, ESPECIALLY while Manager Suzanne is working. What is up with the McDonalds?! We go through the drive thru and put in our order and everything is fine. We get to the pick up window and you tell us to pull on the side because the hash browns aren't ready. We're sitting at the parking reserved for drive thru and then a worker comes up and tells us that you folks ran out of Canadian bacon for the Egg McMuffin?! How do you run out of this when it's part of the all day breakfast?! Very disappointed with today's service from this location. They're always inconsistent and infamous for forgetting things, but today wasn't an exception! Son goes thru drive-thru. He orders 2x a blue raspberry slush with ice cream and confirms it with the lady whom had a very strong accent. This place has the best ambiance. On our first date my now-husband said "I'm gonna take you on the best date of your life" and I got in the car with high expectations. He drove us to the airport and we hopped on a flight from big island. We took an uber to this restaurant and when we walked in I saw what he meant... it really was the best date of my life. I had the filet-o-fish, which was ironic because we ended up making it o-fish-al that night too if you know what I mean. This McDonald's is utter magic. A consistently disappointing experience. Most would not expect quality service but this location is horrendous. Waited 30 minutes in line to get my usual 4B Meal only to be told they don't serve it after 12 am (it was 12:01 am), i understand there's a policy to uphold but i'd make the argument that had the operations been more efficient i would have been able to obtain what i had came for. I live in in the area and this is the most convenient location for me. I usually come at night and these situations are not uncommon. It tends to be the same workers but my biggest problem is with Raynette, she has swore multiple times in front of me and my partner, always very rude and forgot multiple items on multiple orders on multiple occasions. The inconsistency of the product as well as the service is hysterical and i recommend going another few miles to a different location to avoid this major inconvenience. I wish I could give NO stars after our experience today. My mom & her husband drove thru here to pick up lunch before coming to my house for a visit. They ordered 5 McChicken burgers, 5 cheeseburgers, a 20pc McNugget & 3 large fries. Sadly they didn't check the bags before leaving & when they got to my house, we were missing the 5 McChicken burgers. My mom called right away to make a complaint & was asked what was missing from her order. When she told the female worker on the phone (I think she said her name was Lorna), she was informed "THATS TOO MUCH STUFF TO BE MISSING". EXCUSE ME???? Are you f***ing kidding me?!?! Are you guys implying we were LYING??? She then proceeded to ask my mom, several times, if she had received THREE bags (my mom had only received two), put us on "hold" twice & then finally asked if we were still in the area. This is the way they run their business yet they think they are entitled to $15+/hr?? We never even received a single apology or admittance that they messed up. I often use the McDonald to grab a cup of morning coffee or some fast simple foods, but this Waialae McDonald seems to be located very inconvenient and busy area. If you drive from West to East bound on Waialae Avenue, No left turn is allowed, and you end up with turning around several blocks down to finally reach to the McDonald. More worse now with the road construction on Waialae ave. I ended up with traffic and wasted more than half hour just for a cup of coffee in rushing morning. Next time, I'll just stop by 7 Eleven which is much closer and convenient to in & out. read more

Oh how things have changed! I have been going to this McDonald's since I was young. A visit to McDonald's was always a joyous visit as I looked forward to the Happy Meal and the toy that came with it. As I grew older and out of the Happy Meal phase, McD's still became the go to fast food joint of choice when I was looking for something cheap and filling to eat. McDonald's in Hawaii are a different breed to the ones on the Mainland, just like the international stores are different from the American ones. The usual McDonald's items are found here, but there are several items on the menu reflecting the tastes of Hawaii consumers including saimin, taro pie and the Portuguese sausage, eggs and rice breakfast platters. I liked the old store fine. Even kind of cool since they had this transport system that you could see in the dining room, where drive thru meals made in front got transported to the takeout area for distribution. Cut to several years, they tore down the store and rebuilt a new and shiny modernized store that looks like just the one down the street from me. The dining room area of the old store was a bit drab, but the new store is spruced up and more inviting. They even have free wi-fi! This came in really handy on my first day telecommuting from Honolulu. There was something wrong with the connection at home, so I headed here for a couple hours until the issue was resolved. There are a lot of senior citizen regulars here in the morning getting their coffee or tea while conversing with friends. Though it was packed, I was still able to find a space to work from. The only issue that I had with working from here was that I could only find one power plug and it was not working! My battery was drained, so I could not stay long. A visit to a McDonald's in Hawaii is worth visiting just to see the difference between a store there and one on the Mainland U.S. This store now has a coffee shop feel to it that makes it worth visiting to get a drink here while using the free wi-fi. read more

There was one car in front of me, and I was sitting at the second (further away from cashier) speaker waiting to either get my order taken or told to drive forward by the automated voice. Never happened, so after the guy in front of me drove forward (never heard him speaking), I went to the first speaker. Also nothing. The guy in front of me was talking a long time to the cashier, and in that time the person behind me was talking to someone over the speaker. wtf. The workers here are grouchy!! I went to the drive thru today around 5:15 pm and the girl at the cashier window was very unfriendly and you could tell by the look on her face that she hates her job. I asked her a simple question and she responded with daggers in her eyes. The girl at the next window who passed us our order was another grouch with a frown on her face. Monday 04/04/2022 at 5:00pm the drive thru had some cars in front of me in front of the order screen they drove forward I figured they ordered. I gave a courtesy wait for the cashier to say hello so I waited for a good minute then I was saying hello for about 2 mins the cars behind me were getting impatient so I figured the speaker or communication was broken, so I decided to pull forward to the cashier window no one was at the window, and then I seen two young women Micronesian they were laughing and horse playing so I sat at the window for another good 2 mins and then another cashier came out of somewhere and she apologized and said these two are managers and they're playing around not taking the drive thru orders and she stepped in and apologized and I guess she was on her break and she must have heard all the customers on the speaker not getting there orders taken and heard these two young women playing around. But she just immediately took over the cashier and started taking the orders. But the young women who are both managers on this shift playing around they're loosing the owner money, they're loosing money for there team who depends on their paychecks and the customers might not go back to this location. Also this means that all the cars in front of me were just driving off and not getting there orders taken and this McDonalds is always busy. Hopefully the owners deal with it accordingly. And I've been through this drive thru many of times and I've waited hours in the drive thru. But the point of this review is not for me but for this cashier who every time I have her for a cashier she's wonderful pleasant she has class and does a great job but I feel bad for her that she has to work with other people who don't take there job seriously and do there responsibilities at work it must not be very pleasant to work with these kinds of co-workers. And she's doing and giving her best but the other workers are giving this place a bad rap. read more

After about 6 months of not eating at McDonald's I went thru the drive thru window at the location near Palolo valley two weeks ago. I ordered two breakfast meals one a bacon Mcgriddle and one sausage cheese McMuffin. I dropped off what may have been a McMuffin to a homeless guy and when I got home I opened bag to find a sausage biscuit ... I did not order a sausage biscuit and Mcgriddle is more expensive so I was very dissatisfied. Then Tonite I drove thru same location and told myself I wud check my order.. I ordered a smoothie fries and two packs of 3 cookies. I stupidly did not check the bag, and when got home ... Bam .. only one pack of 3 cookies. They weren't busy. No excuse. DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION DRIVE THRU AS THEY WILL GET UR ORDER WRONG. They are 0-2 with my visits and so shame on me if I ever drive thru that location again. What's wrong with the workers there? It's McDonald's in the heart of Kaimuki town. Its one of the two McDonald's closest to me, the other being next to Kahala Mall. At the juncture of Waialae Ave and Palolo Ave, you can see it driving up and down on your commute towards town - unless you get stuck on the H-1 Westbound. Bus route #1 will take you here, so its all good. Breakfast items are always king with me, since breakfast burritos are #1 in my book and just $1. It's always nice to see the McDonald's staff running around nuts trying to give the morning commuters what they want. While its not the ideal place to eat healthy, the portion control idea helps with the $$. At least with breakfast. I don't come to McDonald's normally for lunch, which is a great thing. Breakfast, however, is a sometimes good when you're on the go and need something to quiet the stomach rumbling and you're half asleep on the way to work. read more

This location is supposed to be 24 hr. I mobile ordered and got to the store at 4am and the door was locked. I walked back to my car and drove around the block and when I got to the drive thru there were cones up! I called and even though there were other cars in the drive thru and people inside, no one answered. Luckily I could cancel my order on the app. I waited 15 mins and tried to mobile order again and it Went through. cones still in the drive thru so I cancelled my second order and left. What a waste of time. If you let us order give us a way to pick up our food and if you're closed at least put up signs. No sign on the entrance door signifying that you're closed, only the sign that says lobby and drive thru are 24hr. No sign on the cones as to why the drive thru was shut when I could still mobile order and saw about 4 cars in the drive thru. What a waste of time. read more
