I've always gotten good food at this McDonald's. Service, however, is often terrible. I just went to this location to buy breakfast. Since the drive-thru lanes were backed up into the parking lot, I parked and walked inside to order. I ended up 2nd in line, with more customers behind me. Just as it was my turn to order, someone in the kitchen told the counter clerk to "leave the customers" and help fill orders in the kitchen. Seven minutes later we were all still waiting for service, so I left and went to Burger King. Any business that tells its customer contact employees to ignore paying customers and walk away, because management cannot properly staff the operation, does not deserve to stay in business. Additional info: On April 14 I received a phone call from someone at this McDonald's. Once I got her to talk more slowly so I could understand what she was saying (she spoke with a very heavy accent), I figured out that it was a response to the above review. Basically, she told that this McDonald's would try to have more kitchen staff on duty during the busy times, so they didn't have to pull counter into the kitchen, leaving nobody to take orders. We'll see whether this improvement occurs, or whether this is just a meaningless corporate promise to try to win back a customer. Watch this space for further developments. read more

Took my kids here and ordered via the kiosk. A little confusing since the "table tents" weren't easy to locate, took 5 minutes to get help. After ordering, it took 20+ minutes for my order to come to our table, which I'd expect at other establishments but not a fast food place. When my order did arrive, they got it wrong in their favor (ordered a double and they gave me a single), but standing at the cashier got me zero attention or acknowledgement for more than 5 minutes. I had to give up. The icing on the cake is there are no napkins and they don't give you any with your food. If you want one, you have to wait 15 minutes and hope someone will be kind enough to acknowledge you. read more

I placed a mobile order and it was confirmed it was after 10 pm so only drive trough is open no pick up at the counter. When I arrived at the drive through the stuff was rude and let me wait for minutes even the drive trough was empty no one in line. Then they rejected to give me my order they said I'm not allowed to walk in only cars. My order was cancelled. Don't go there they are rude and they don't do their work. They are too lazy to give you a burger and rather take your money and don't deliver service. On top of that they will blame you for being a bicyclist. They will tell you no car go away your poor guy and never come back. I'm not joking it happened to me. And this in a bike friendly community of Gilroy. Usually people would think hey contact customer service. Sure I did when I was ripped of at MacDonalds at arroyo circle and their reply was: It's not out problem. You have to go to the local branch and deal with them. So I did and went to the branch and guess what? They don't care they will tell you it's not our problem you placed a online order and we delivered even they didn't. So it's a waste of time to talk to them. Conclusion when ever you place a order at the MacDonalds app it's a like lottery maybe you get your oder or not. And if you don't get your order your money is down the drain. I'm not joking check it out and talk to them they will be not reliable. They will redirect you to the branch and the branch will tell you: well not our problem, it's your fault why did you order with us? We are rich and we do not need you at all! You are disturbing us and you are a pain we do not need customers! All we need is money. Conclusion better go to jack in the box, Taco Bell or Burger King they need customers. Terrible wait time in drive thru! Workers tried handing me someone else's order and seemed so confused and lost... Finally they forgot my drinks and told me to wait in front instead of just doing it there at the window! So I had to wait an additional 5 minutes for the worker to bring me out my drinks with no ice in it! I spent $30 on my order to get home and find out that they gave me old sausage mcgriddles.... I would like to know when customer service became the thing of the past? At McDonald's it's when the self service kiosks were installed. I live in Gilroy and when I visit the location on 1st at anytime during the day. If you are in line awaiting service no one acknowledges your waiting. Instead when you inquire you are directed to place your order at the kiosk. I believe this is horrible service. This place has always given me problems only return because it's close to work. Today I ordered on the mobile app and it told me their was an error to take it to the counter to get help. The place is under remodel so I had to wait at the back door for close to 15 min with over 5 employees just looking at me but not acknowledging me. The cashier told my son that ice cream machine is broken, she give him " apple pie" instead. I came to the one in Gilroy on 1st Street with my mom on 9/18/21 @ 8:45 am. The gentleman at the register was new but super nice. I requested a special order when he asked his manager for help she was so rude to him then she started telling him to hurry up that she wasn't going to help him if he got behind I was socked that ah manager would do this in front of customers. She did this the whole time putting the kid and all her employees down. Not great for customer service. Don't get me wrong I'm also Mexican and I would never mouth talk about my employers in front of customers thinking that they might not understand me and do it the whole time the customers are there like really lady if you talk to your employers the way you talk behind them God only knows what you say about your customers. read more

Well my husband and I just had lunch at this McDonald's and while we're eating my husband says 'hey there's a cockroach!' I wasn't sure if he really did see one so I got up to confirm and, low and behold, it was a COCKROACH!!! OMG!! This particular McDonald's just went through a major remodel but didn't spring for eco lamps!?!? Expect 30 minutes waits inside, drive thru will constantly ask you to "wait out front" so they can avoid missing their timed systems and expect 80% of staff to say "No Hablo English." This store is recently remodeled giving it a more modern look. Other than that it's about what you would expect from a McDonald's. The new 'fresh' quarter pounders are tasty but some times it takes them a little extra time to make them and if you order one they might ask you to park if you are in the drive thru. Customer service at this restaurant is spotty. There is an older lady who works at the drive thru who is very friendly and professional, but some times you get a bored or clueless teenager. Or sometimes it's a very happy and friendly teenager. Like I said...spotty, and if they make a mistake the service is equally spotty. I get stuff for my kids here quite often and sometimes something is missed. Some times they fix it with no hassle, and other times they play rules lawyer over something as small as a missed order of fries if I can't produce the receipt...which is the kind of thing that gets me to patronize some other restaurant. For a few weeks, at least, because it's McDonald's. I'll be back eventually. I just wish I could be more enthusiastic about it. read more

This place has the worst customer service. We came at 745pm on Halloween and the doors were locked. Someone came out so we went in. On the window it said the lobby closes at 11pm. They closed the doors at 730 if not earlier. The girl working there obviously needs a new jobs. No one was wearing name tags. She yelled that they were closed. There was about 10 people standing in the lobby. I asked all of them if they had ordered, they said yes. So we went to order. One lady gave me a bunch of dirty looks, apparently she hadn't ordered yet. But hey, not my fault she didn't say she didn't order yet. I asked. Anyways, the girl working there was such a snob to everyone. It was about 32 minutes until we got our food. We got 3 plain cheeseburgers, 4 fries with drinks, and a few other things. They messed up all of the plain cheeseburgers and didn't give us our 4th fries. When we went up, we just got a scoff, dirty looks and ignored by that girl. I guess it is great to be absentee owners and collect the check. I had several bad experiences the Peat's McDonald's in Gilroy. Filthy locations, food thrown at me at the counter, deconstructed Big Macs and finally a fish patty substituted with a hamburger patty. I have asked for contact via the survey, and even sat down with a shift manager regarding my issues. During that conversation, I specifically asked that the owners contact me about the problems. I didn't want a filter on my concerns, just a straight conversation with the top. Several weeks later, I'm still waiting. I surmise the Peat Organization likes getting the revenue and can care less how their locations represent them. I always try to support local businesses, but not under these circumstances. This place is ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING!! From the time you walk in to order your food there is stuff all over the counter and when you go to sit down, good luck!! There is leftover food and trash on the floors, table , and whatever sticky sauce stuff on the seats. I should have known better then to walk into the bathrooms, it looks horrible. If there was a zero star option, I would give it. Seriously unsanitary and disgusting--trash everywhere, every table was dirty. I had to ask them to wipe off a table. There were 4 tables in use, every vacant one was dirty. No ketchup out, even the top layer of napkins set out were dirty. Trash all over the drink station. I'm really glad we went to the bathroom before we came, I'm afraid to know what that looks like. The only positive was very friendly employees. I am having difficulty understanding how this location stays open. I usually go through here at least once a week. The morning staff seems to have a better grasp on how to handle a rush of customers. The night shift is AWFUL. There's just so many things I could rant about, but this particular situation was most worry some. I was in that location around 7 pm on a Thursday. There were many people waiting around for food. I had ordered two sundaes. Shouldn't take long right? After waiting about 10 minutes, I asked if they had forgotten about my order. They said no, but a customer behind me was livid and told me he'd been there for 45 minutes. That is crazy! An employee came in to the restaurant and told his "homie" to clock him in even though he was going to leave for the night. After that happened One of the employees came around the counter and locked the doors so that nobody could come in. I asked again if my order was ready. Still nothing. Finally the employee starts lining up sundaes on the pick up counter, so I grab mine and leave. It took 30 minutes total for my two sundaes. A week before that, I ordered 4 10 piece nuggets. I asked if they put my sauce in the bag. They said they had, but there were none in there. Also, there were 6 nuggets missing in total, a couple from each box. This is McDonald's. Don't expect too much! I like their drive through line because it has two order areas. I also like their $1 deals (spicy McChicken, $1 any size beverage). Well I know we're talking about McDonald's here but come on...how hard is it to make something "fresh" if requested by your customers? We just picked up a couple burgers and fries through the drive thru and my man requested FRESH fries... Ok besides the fact that both fries were only half full when we opened the bag...they were definitely not fresh and you could clearly see that they had been sitting for a long while...nice and crusty looking and cold! Thank god we don't go here very often anymore. As far as McDonald's goes this one pretty much sucks. Because mostly all McDonald's are the same food-wise, this review is about the customer service (or lack thereof). Of the three McDonald's in Gilroy, this one is the worst by a wide margin. - Employees are rude and speak only in Spanish. I understand the language, but it's still rude to those who do not. - Employees are terribly trained. They will not acknowledge you until a line starts to form and frequently have to pause and re-do their entries into the cash register. - The cashier (a girl with a black nose ring) rolled her eyes once when I requested a special order. Even worse was that she didn't own it when I called her out. - Frequent order mishaps. I always am sure to double check that they got the order right before I leave, it saves you time and hassle. - They need to deal with loitering in the outdoor dining area. Every once in a while, you want to eat outdoors there. You can do that if you feel like sitting with the biker teens and homeless people who take up a good deal of space, but most of the time I do not. read more
