Very disappointing experience. We were order #717 on May 24 and placed our order around 12:40 PM: three cheeseburger specials with nuggets and fries, plus four drinks. We did not receive our food until about 1:03 PM. At least 23 minutes for a simple order. While waiting near the drive-thru area, we could see several order receipts being worked on, including #618, #717, #1024, and #5. The customer for order #618 had ordered before us and was still waiting even after we finally got our food. Meanwhile, I counted at least 10 drive-thru cars being served while lobby customers continued waiting. Around 12:50 PM, my 10-year-old daughter politely checked on our order and was told they would "start working on it now." By 12:55 PM, we still had no food, so I calmly asked if there was a problem with the order and was barely acknowledged. Another customer who had just walked in became verbally aggressive toward me in front of my 10-year-old daughter and her friend. Staff did not appear to notice or do anything to de-escalate the situation. When we finally received our food, the fries were cold and the ice in our drinks had melted. This was clearly a management and operational issue. A 20+ minute wait for fast food, poor communication, cold food, and an uncomfortable lobby experience in front of children is unacceptable. read more

I was happy to see the golden arches close to the freeway exit on my way to Coronado island in San Diego. I was almost there and knew that once I arrived options would be limited. I decided on a combo from their value menu. For $7 I received chicken nuggets, a double cheeseburger, small fries, and a small Coke. You will get an up charge if you try to change out the coke. No greeting for over 5 minutes after entering and waiting at the counter. Not sure if they expect us to use the self serve kiosk as a defaul. When I tried to redeem 3,500 points for a 6 pc. Chicken McNuggets using the McDonald's app, the employee said the code 'won't work' even after the points were already deducted from my account. We both seemed a bit confused using the app which led her to say I'm basically SOL. When I asked to speak with a manager to resolve this, she refused to, which is what compelled me to write this review. My daughters and I were heading to the Major League Pickleball in San Diego last weekend. On our way there, we stopped at this McDonald's for a quick breakfast in case food options aren't great at the Barnes Tennis Center. Tables were clean. Lots of outside seating. Adequate inside seating. Benches and stools had signs of wear and tear. Tears on the seats had clear tape over them. I have never seen taping of seats at any McDonald's until now. We used one of the self-ordering kiosk. There are 2 of them. Got one Breakfast Platter and one Bacon McGriddle plus one large Iced Coffee Caramel drink to share between the 3 of us. Food was fine. Drink could be better... it lacked some coffee flavor IMHO. Btw, if you want certain condiments like pepper, you'll need to specify it in your order. Otherwise, you'll have to ask for it after the fact. Staff was friendly and very hardworking. Just one lady working the front counter. They were very short staffed unfortunately. I sent my teenage kids to get McDonald's. They went inside the lobby to order at the counter and they had $40 in cash to buy food for the family. NOT one employee asked to help them. They stood inside at the counter trying to request help from the staff. The staff completely ignored them for 25 mins. The staff was very distracted. They either had friends seated in the lobby or they were employees who had just gotten off of work. We waited an extremely long time for our order: 2 cups of coffee and 2 apple pies. We saw an employee give a large iced coffee with ice cream on top to one of their friends while we waited. We got to the menu board like a TV screen that changes through things. And it wasn't showing the menu, instead stayed on the car before us's order. I guess the 3rd time McDs got their coffee right or by this time the customer gave up. We get up and are finally handed our bag. Checked it and it was short a cheeseburger. Waiting longer, wait more, finally get that. Asked for a receipt 3 more times and finally get it. Guess McD's $ have gone up, that was the cost for our order. We get to the park, no straw in the bag for the drink, my wife's cheeseburger was totally cold & the fries tasted old. So 40 min drive-thru wait, can't see a menu board to order from, asking for things multiple times to no avail, missing food & straw, cold food = $17. NOPE! Called the owner's customer service number and gave our complaint & the McD's corporate customer service giving our complaint. Located across from the Westfield North County mall, this is one of the worst McDonald's I have visited. Whereas normally store layouts allow plenty of room in front of the registers, at this McDonald's people are squeezed into an awkward space between the entryway and the counter. There are a few tables in this same area where people normally wait, making the situation even worse. Overall, it's very hard to line up especially when it's busy here. What makes the location the worst for me though was the customer service. I had to talk back and forth with the crew member at the register after already paying and waiting. The crew member at the register seemed like she was new. She took our order and then there was no follow up with delivering the drinks and ice cream to us (the usual protocol is for the cashier to make the cones and sundaes immediately after ordering and then handing it to the customer). I had a simple request which was to put the caramel on the bottom of the sundae, and the register person did not note the request on her machine and it was not delivered as requested. Things got better when another worker stepped in (probably a crew trainer) and corrected all the mistakes the other person had done. read more

Whoa. The employee operating the self order kiosk was not only absolutely unnecessary but extremely rude and abrasive. I walked in and she immediately goes WHAT DO U WANT. The whole reason I wanted to use the kiosk was so I could browse without pressure. After more than three months of trying to get my money back, I am here to warn others. I used McDonald mobile app for the first time to order, this was the closest location to my friend's family that just moved to the area and I was visiting her family of four with two of my kids. They had just moved into the house, so we didn't really want to cook with boxes everywhere in the kitchen. With food allergy among us, certain menu on McDonald was okay for the allergy kid to eat, so I ordered. Around 11:27am. The location was about 10-15 min away and being lunch time, I figured it would take some time to make and I'd set off to pick up in about 10 min. I ordered enough food for six of us (four kids) and extra in case someone changed mind. About 20 min later of chatting, I realized the app didn't ding me (like my domino app) to remind me, I went on the app and my whole order disappeared. But I still had email receipt that I ordered and venmo also charged me. I called but no one picked up. After giving a few minutes to call the store a couple of times and no one picking up, I decided to just drive over. When I drove over, it was about 12:15-12:20 time frame, I talked to worker and they didn't have my order. I asked to speak to the manager. She didn't find it at first, but she looked through her internal system and found the order! But for some reason she couldn't get the order ticket to print out from it, she couldn't do anything. So she said she would just cancel the order and I can just make new order. I asked if she could print out something to show I canceled, but she said it is an internal system and it cannot be printed out if it won't even print out to order. But she assured several times she canceled the transaction. So I went on their self-order screen (the long thing) to order. At this time, my friend called, worried why I was taking so long, so I let her know I'd be there soon - kids were very hungry and she didn't have a car at the time when I left. Then as we were speaking her husband came home from work. So I decided to add his order as well (we didn't expect him to come home till 3-4 pm originally). Then I remembered they don't really have any drinks other than soda, so when I made this new order, most of the items stayed the same except I upgraded a couple of items to a meal size to include sodas and fries, so i subtracted some individual fries order from the original order and added fish burger. Then I paid for it with credit card in person because I didn't trust the mobile app or venmo payment at the time. Since the manager assured me that the previous order was canceled, I didn't worry much. I put venmo through the claim that this order was canceled at the time. The rep came back to me and said the payment is still pending and cannot be canceled... I wrote, how can payment still be pending for fast food, it isn't like I am planning to pick up food after 3 months! They wanted me to submit the receipt to show I paid for the food in another means. I dug out all my receipt to organize but realized that I lost it during the whole ordeal. HOWEVER I had taken a picture of it for the survey app for shopping, so I had a picture of that order and submitted it along with my original order receipt (email, since it was mobile order). The venmo said they are denying my claim because the orders weren't same!!! But my $53 is still stuck in venmo because it is still pending to become McDonald's Money, even if I never received food for this particular order since it was canceled by the manager and I made a new order. I mean, this could've been easier if I made exactly same order again, but who thinks, 'hey, they aren't going to give my money back even if the order was canceled, so I should make it look exactly the same then add another Burger and some soda for one more person on the separate check'?? Anyway, I tried calling the location but as it happened to me before, they don't pick up. Venmo Rep says I need to get a written statement or cancel receipt from the McDonald. How is McDonald going to print cancel receipt they couldn't print three months ago? It isn't like they upgraded system for that. How am I supposed to get a written statement from 10 hours of drive away (and the return trip)? I don't think $53 will pay for my gas to drive there in expensive California. So McDonald system is still holding my money hostage by 'pending' and I can't get anything from the McDonald for the proof, and venmo wont release my fund. We were stuck in the drive thru line for almost 20 minutes before getting to the ordering menu. We get to the ordering window and no greeting. We had to say hello 3 times before anyone greeted us. Yes, there was a passenger van in front of us but they were at the window a whole 2 minutes. They didn't even bother parking the passenger van who had a total of 8 bags. Then there was a problem with one of the bags and they gave it back. Part the large orders fault but bad management on the drive thru crew. They should be able to handle large orders. Hell they have parked me before in the past for well done fries. Then they hand us a bag of food and it wasn't ours. While they tried to figure out where our food was they laughed and giggled and complained about the passenger van that was 2 cars ahead of us. Finally got our food and the fries were cold, they forgot our iced coffee and struggled to get us our sundae. After reminding them about the McFlurry we ordered they spent a few seconds verifying.
